Facebook’s ad hoc groups: a potential source of communicative power of networked citizens

Ad hoc groups (sporadically formed on social network sites for achieving particular common objectives) have been seen as a public space for citizen participation and debate. This study focuses on Facebook’s ad hoc groups in Finland. The aim is to detect the potential of these groups to enhance networked citizens’ communicative power for raising societally important issues to public agenda and initiate changes in society. En este estudio de caso se aborda la intervención realizada en un centro de diagnóstico y atención temprana, a una alumna de dos años con hemiparesia lateral izquierda y dificultades en la manipulación y comunicación. Aplicando a lo largo de cuatro meses el sistema de Comunicación Total de Benson Schaeffer con el apoyo del método TEACCH, se pretende superar las graves limitaciones comunicativas de la alumna. El propósito de este artículo es mostrar el rendimiento comunicativo en las simulaciones en inglés en dos grupos contrastivos: estudiantes adiestrados en enseñanza integrativa en contraste con los que están siguiendo un curso de enfoque comunicativo. La evaluación de la producción oral mediante una aproximación por tareas a las actividades de simulación muestra que, aunque los estudiantes siguiendo el método comunicativo dominan mejor tales técnicas, los estudiantes del método integrativo son más aventajados en el dominio de la gramática. Translation is analyzed from the standpoint of its systemic properties. Translation is shown to have the capacity to observe itself and its difference from the environment. Observation being a major autopoietic factor, translation may be considered as an autopoietic system.
