Kronenethersubstituierte 1,4-Distyrylbenzole und ihre Komplexierung mit Alkalipikraten
2000
Crown Ether Substituted 1,4-Distyrylbenzenes and their Complexation with Alkali Picrates The 1,4-distyrylbenzenes 8 and 9, which contain two crown ether units, each, were prepared by Wittig—Horner reactions. Their complexation tendencies with alkali picrates (Li—Cs) in water/dichloromethane were investigated. Potas sium ions give the strongest complexes. Generally monomo-lecular 1:1-complexes are formed; however, [K-8] + [Pik]—, [K-9]+ [Pik]— and [Rb-8] + [Pik]— generate aggregates, for which a stairway structure is proposed.
Methyl 3-(4-hydroxyphenyl)propionate
2018
The title compound, C10H12O3, crystallizes in the orthorhombicP212121space group. The structure contains a phenolic group with the OH being coplanar with the phenyl ring. The structure exhibits significant hydrogen bonding between the O—H group of one molecule and the CO group of an adjacent one. These O—H...O=C interactions form chains of molecules parallel to thebaxis. No π–π or C—H...π intermolecular interactions are observed.
Separation of aromatic aminophosphonic acid enantiomers by capillary electrophoresis with the application of cyclodextrins
2002
The detailed studies concerning capillary electrophoresis separation of aminophosphonic acid enantiomers with various commercially available cyclodextrins are presented. The obtained results show that the separation of these stereoisomers is dependent on pH of background electrolyte, concentration of cyclodextrin as well as on the type of applied chiral selector. The separation mechanism is based on the co-operative effect of hydrogen bond type interactions enhanced by hydrophobic forces and sterical constrains between aminophosphonate and cyclodextrin. With application of elaborated method, enantiomeric baseline or partial separation of 18 alpha-aminophosphonic acids was achieved. This sep…
Spin transition in heptanuclear star-shaped iron(III)–antimony(V) NCS- and CN-bridged compounds
2009
Abstract The precursor [FeIII(L)Cl] (LH2 = N,N′-bis(2′-hydroxy-benzyliden)-1,6-diamino-3-azahexane) has been prepared and Mossbauer spectroscopy assigned a high-spin (S = 5/2) state at room temperature. The precursor is combined with the bridging units [SbV(X)6]− (X = CN−, NCS−) to yield star-shaped heptanuclear clusters [(LFeIII–X)6SbV]Cl5. The star-shaped compounds are in general high-spin systems at room temperature. On cooling to 20 K some of the iron(III) centers switch to the low-spin state as indicated by Mossbauer spectroscopy, i.e. multiple electronic transitions. While the cyano-bridged complex performs a multiple spin transition the thiocyanate-compound shows no significant popul…
Alkaloids from Rauwolfia serpentina cell cultures treated with ajmaline
1993
Abstract A group of new alkaloids, the raumaclines, and some related alkaloids were isolated from Rauwolfia serpentina cell suspensions fed with high levels of ajmaline; their structures were determined and syntheses developed providing an essential prerequisite to the further study of their biosynthesis at the enzymatic level.
Distribution of volatile organic compounds in Sicilian groundwaters analysed by head space-solid phase micro extraction coupled with gas chromatograp…
2008
This work presents the results of an assessment of the existence and concentration of 13 volatile organic compounds (VOCs) in groundwaters from 14 hydrological basins in Sicily (25,710km (2)). On the basis of hydrological, hydrogeochemical and geological studies, 324 sampling points were selected. All groundwater sampled were collected twice, from October to December 2004 and from February to May 2005, and were analysed to determine the concentration and spatial distribution of the VOCs in the aquifers. The need to analyze a large number of samples in a short space of time so as to obtain quantitative analyses in trace concentration levels spurred us to create a new analytical method, both …
Effect of addition of Lewis/Brönsted acids in the asymmetric aldol condensation catalyzed by trifluoroacetate salts of proline-based dipeptides
2012
Abstract Proline-based dipeptides catalyze aldol condensations with good yield and stereoselectivity after addition of zinc or sodium acetate to the trifluoroacetate peptide. The chirality of the N-terminal proline in the catalyst determines the absolute configuration of the aldol product, but stereoselectivity depends on the configuration of both amino acids, and is higher for the enantiomeric pair R–S, S–R. Regarding the nature of the second component, optimal results in both yield and stereoselectivity are obtained when neutral unbranched primary amino acids are used.
Studies on the Stereoselective Selenolactonization, Hydroxy and Methoxy Selenenylation of α- and β-Hydroxy Acids and Esters. Synthesis of δ- and γ-La…
2003
Abstract The diastereoselective synthesis of hydroxy substituted γ- and δ-lactones was accomplished following two approaches. A 5- or 6-endo cyclization promoted by electrophilic selenium reagents of α- or β-hydroxy acids and a 5- or 6-exo cyclization of hydroxy esters obtained through a diastereoselective hydroxy selenenylation reaction of α- or β-hydroxy esters. Moreover, the diastereoselective methoxy selenenylation of the above compounds was investigated showing a case in which the compound that was unreactive in the hydroxy selenenylation conditions gave, in the methoxy selenenylation conditions, the deprotected diol. The usefulness of the methoxy selenenylation procedure was proven by…
Identification and quantification of valuable phenolic compounds from red wines from western part of Romania
2019
The aim of this paper is to identify and quantify different phenolic compounds known and appreciated for their antioxidant action from five red wines from the west side of Romania. For the determinations HPLC methods were used, the samples were done in cycles of three for better results. Phenolic acids that drew the attention have different values that ranging from 1.3007 mg/L (elagic acid) to 19.3315 (t-cafftaric acid), some various flavonoids (flavone, flavonoli și flavanoli) the values of which were recorded between 0.9997 mg/L (apigenin) and 56.1617 mg/L (catechin) and the stilbens namely the resveratrol has reached the maximum value of 8.1427 mg/L. The phenolic compounds that were det…
Macromolecules with groups of high reactivity
1960
Reactions on the reactive groups of macromolecular substances (e.g., cellulose) have long been known, even since before the structures of macromolecules were understood. H. Staudinger carried out numerous reactions with macromolecules, maintaining the degree of polymerization constant, in order to substantiate the macromolecular structure of the substances investigated (polymeric-analogous reactions). During the last fifteen years reactions with macromolecules have been investigated because it was desirable to compare the chemical diversity of low molecular weight compounds with the corresponding chemical diversity of macromolecular compounds. These endeavors bring forth materials which sup…
