Pluriversalizar los regímenes globales de conocimiento: ¿Puede el Análisis del Discurso sociológico contribuir a estudios Decoloniales?
2020
In this paper we discuss the perspective of Sociology of Knowledge Approach to Discourse (SKAD) as a possible strategy applicable to studies framed by decolonial thought. The reflection is approached by comparing key concepts of both perspectives, such as discourse, power and knowledge, as well as their methodological premises. The results allow us to point out potentials of SKAD as a conceptual-methodological reference for investigations towards decoloniality, e.g. the SKAD analysis dimensions patterns of interpretation and narrative structure. However, possible limitations of the SKAD with respect to the design and the realization of decolonial studies were also revealed, particularly in …
Global responsibility: An exploratory corpus assisted discourse analysis of the Rohingya crisis in online media
2021
This study conducts an exploratory corpus-assisted discourse analysis of the representation of the Rohingya minority group across online news media in the United Kingdom. The purpose of the study is to identify and interpret the discursive patterns employed in popular online news media when depicting the Rohingya minority and associated crises affecting the group in Myanmar and worldwide. Through the use of a combination of frequency, collocation, and concordance analysis, a synchronic study was undertaken using data collected from fifteen major online news media producers in the United Kingdom. The data was collected over a period from January 2017 – August 2020 through freely accessible d…
Intellectual Power in Europe
2018
In this chapter, the author argues that the increasing complexity of European societies accentuates the need for a discourse that unites specialists—mathematicians, engineers, humanists—and the public. European societies are constantly haunted by the fragmentation of knowledge relating to political and social life. This can be seen in the decline in political participation as well as the discontent with globalization and resistance to social reforms. These phenomena are related to the status of intellectuals as producers of public discourse. The author concentrates on two socio-cultural aspects that influence the transformation of the role of intellectuals, a substantial aspect, the questio…
The implicit in "In search of lost ime" : study on an aspect of proustien speech
2013
The implicit is defined as content present in speech without being formally expressed. Presupposition and implied content are the two fundamental elements of this concept. They act as information implied in speech whose essence the speaker can grasp or decrypt using the theories of pragmatics and enunciative linguistics. Proustian speech constitutes a remarkable example of the use of the implicit and its concepts. The present work is entirely devoted to the search for the implicit in Proust’s In Search of Lost Time. In our work, the development of this concept emerges especially in the verbal interaction between Proust's characters, also, through the speech of the narrator who opts for a ne…
Discursive organisation of tourist guided tours : contributional theorisation and valorisation of a professional praxis
2016
The discourse produced in a guided tour stems from different communicative modalities which include the visit assisted by a socio-technical device and the visit guided by an education and visitor service officer. These two modalities show common characteristics of a guided tour; they also offer significant differences. These differences allow us to compile a corpus divided according to its modalities of production and the languages: written text by professionals of the tourism sector, in French and in Spanish. Several issues arise such as the genre taxonomy of the discourse linked to the specific field studied, the unit of the text segmentation which has to free itself from the scriptural o…

La objeción de conciencia farmacéutica a la píldora postcoital
2003
The article represents a taking of position regarding the matter of the conscience objection towards the morning-after pill (MAP). The MAP is considered like an emergency contraception that the woman can take within the 72 hours from the sexual intercourse. The mechanisms of action of the product can be the following: a. to avoid the ovulation; b. to prevent the fusion between oocyte and sperm after the ovulation; c. to make impossible the implant of the embryo in the uterus. The author questions in the article if the MAP is abortive and, in this case, explicits the fundamental points of the Spanish law about the conscience objection. It is not difficult to ascertain that the MAP acts as co…

Clinical cardiac assessment in newborns with prenatally diagnosed intrathoracic masses
2018
Abstract Background Congenital space-occupying thoracic malformations and diaphragmatic hernia have in common pulmonary hypoplasia. Our study aims to assess cardiac involvement during post-natal adaptation. Methods A retrospective study was carried out on newborns with prenatally diagnosed intrathoracic mass. Gathering for respiratory distress syndrome (RDS), 35 neonates were compared for clinical course, cardiovascular enzymes, ECG, and ultrasound. Results The analysis revealed a high left heart defect rate in patients with severe RDS, without being influenced by the laterality. Ultrasound or laboratory assessment did not detect altered cardiac dimension or cardiomyopathy. Solely ECG signs…
