Defined-size DNA triple crossover construct for molecular electronics: modification, positioning and conductance properties.

2011

We present a novel, defined-size, small and rigid DNA template, a so-called B-A-B complex, based on DNA triple crossover motifs (TX tiles), which can be utilized in molecular scale patterning for nanoelectronics, plasmonics and sensing applications. The feasibility of the designed construct is demonstrated by functionalizing the TX tiles with one biotin-triethylene glycol (TEG) and efficiently decorating them with streptavidin, and furthermore by positioning and anchoring single thiol-modified B-A-B complexes to certain locations on a chip via dielectrophoretic trapping. Finally, we characterize the conductance properties of the non-functionalized construct, first by measuring DC conductivi…

Change of the vortex core structure in two-band superconductors at the impurity-scattering-driven s±/s++ crossover

2017

We report a nontrivial transition in the core structure of vortices in two-band superconductors as a function of interband impurity scattering. We demonstrate that, in addition to singular zeros of the order parameter, the vortices there can acquire a circular nodal line around the singular point in one of the superconducting components. It results in the formation of the peculiar ``moat''-like profile in one of the superconducting gaps. The moat-core vortices occur generically in the vicinity of the impurity-induced crossover between ${s}_{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}$ and ${s}_{++}$ states.

Island Diffusion on Metal fcc (100) Surfaces

1999

We present Monte Carlo simulations for the size and temperature dependence of the diffusion coefficient of adatom islands on the Cu(100) surface. We show that the scaling exponent for the size dependence is not a constant but a decreasing function of the island size and approaches unity for very large islands. This is due to a crossover from periphery dominated mass transport to a regime where vacancies diffuse inside the island. The effective scaling exponents are in good agreement with theory and experiments.

Power laws and crossovers in off-critical surface-directed spinodal decomposition.

2000

We study the dynamics of phase separation in binary mixtures near a surface with a preferential attraction for one of the components of the mixture. We obtain detailed numerical results for a range of mixture compositions. In the case where the minority component is attracted to the surface, wetting layer growth is characterized by a crossover from a surface-potential-dependent growth law to a universal law. We formulate a simple phenomenological model to explain our numerical results.

Cooperative Thermal and Optical Switching of Spin States in a New Two-Dimensional Coordination Polymer

2003

{Fe(pmd)2[Cu(CN)2]2} (pmd = pyrimidine) displays a rigid two-dimensional structure and undergoes thermal- and optical-driven spin crossover behaviour; cooperative elastic coupling between iron(II) ions in the framework induces thermal hysteresis in the HS↔LS conversion and sigmoidal HS→LS relaxation of the photo-induced HS state at low temperatures. Ultrathin Films of 2D Hofmann-Type Coordination Polymers: Influence of Pillaring Linkers on Structural Flexibility and Vertical Charge Transport

2019

Searching for novel materials and controlling their nanostructuration into electronic devices is a challenging task ahead of chemists and chemical engineers. Even more so when this new application requires an exquisite control over the morphology, crystallinity, roughness and orientation of the films produced. In this context, it is of critical importance to analyze the influence of the chemical composition of perspective materials on their properties at the nanoscale. We report the fabrication of ultrathin films (thickness < 30 nm) of a family of FeII Hofmann-like coordination polymers by using an optimized liquid phase epitaxy (LPE) set-up. The series [Fe(L)2{Pt(CN)4}] (L = pyridine, pyri…

catena-[µ-Tris(1,2-bis(tetrazol-1-yl)ethane-N4,N4')iron(II)] bis(tetrafluoroborate): synthesis, structure, spectroscopic and magnetic characterizatio…

2002

In analogy to a common synthesis of 1-substituted 5-H tetrazoles (Tetrahedron Lett. 36 (1995)1759; Beloruss. Gos. Univ., Minsk, USSR. Khim. Geterotsikl. Soedin. 11 (1985) 1521; Beloruss. Gos. Navuk 1 (1992) 73), the new bidentate ligand 1,2-bis(tetrazol-1-yl)ethane [endi] was synthesized and characterized by X-ray diffraction, NMR, IR and UV–Vis spectroscopy. By using iron(II) tetrafluoroborate hexahydrate the complexation with this ligand yields a 1-dimensional linear coordination polymer similar to the recently published chain compound (Inorg. Spin crossover phenomena in Fe(ii) complexes

2000

The behaviour of spin crossover compounds is among the most striking and fascinating shown by relatively simple molecular species. This review aims to draw attention to the various ways in which spin crossover phenomena are manifested in iron(II) complexes, to offer some rationalisation for these, and to highlight their possible applications. Typical examples have been selected along with more recent ones in order to give an overall view of the scope and development of the area. The article is structured to provide the basic material for those who wish to enter the field of spin crossover.

Downsizing of robust Fe-triazole@SiO2 spin-crossover nanoparticles with ultrathin shells

2019

A chemical protocol to design robust hybrid [Fe(Htrz)2(trz)](BF4)@SiO2 nanoparticles (NPs) with sizes as small as 28 nm and ultrathin silica shells below 3 nm has been developed. These NPs present a characteristic abrupt spin transition with a subsequent decrease in the width of the thermal hysteresis upon reducing the NP size.
