This thesis propounds an info-communicational approach of empowerment phenomenon in a market oriented context. In order to do so, we focus on discourses and communicational processes that refer to this very concept in “collaborative consumption” platforms’ framework. Massification of this type of services is accompanied by discourses emphasizing a socioecological “power” they would be carrying for consumers (as a more social and sustainable economy). We underline the gap between this utopia and the organizational reality of empowerment. First part of this thesis proposes to highlight this polysemic concept. This study analyzes how consumers’ general attitude towards distributor brands, the perception held by the individual on the quality differences between distributor and manufacturer brands, as well as the anticipated satisfaction with the product are key variables for explaining the intention to purchase durable goods with distributor brands. As a significant contribution the influence of consumers’ price consciousness as a moderating variable is tested.

Context: In France, since 1 November 2019, all school restaurants are required to offer a vegetarian menu at least once a week. This is the main issue at the core of the itinerary exhibition of urban projects and architecture aiming at starting a virtuous process of reflections on the theme of the sustainable city in the mediterranean area. The presented projects, beneficiating from on a collaboration among several european institutions, provide a large panorama of answers regarding the transformation of the city of Palermo, Trapani and Marseille.
