Medical Student Motivation to Work in E-learning

2015

Nowadays information technology is widley used in studying process thus enabling students to acquire knowledge in a convenient place and time. It is a novel approach and a challenge for both – the students and the faculty of Latvian University Riga Medical College (LU RMK). In order to provide and develope e-learning environment LU RMK has launched a Project whose main objective is „to develop guidelines and video training materials in the e-environment for students and faculty staff in order to provide a more efficient studying process”. Implementation of the project has been started with a pilot study „Medical students’ motivation to work in e-environment”, designed to explore students’ m…

Food Safety Through Application of an E-Learning Platform

2015

AbstractThe paper investigates the effectiveness of a continuing online education course for the professionals, who provides information on the food safety working group from "Lucian Blaga" University of Sibiu, formed by students (specialization: Engineering and Management in Public Food and Agro-tourism), persons looking for a job (unemployed) and people who works in the food industry. Piloting materials was made both face to face and online. The knowledges was measured using evaluation tests after each lesson and through a final assessment test. The results of the promotion rate was over 90%, which indicates a high efficiency in terms of piloting materials adapted by teachers from the "Lu…

Acceptance of E-Learning Devices by Dental Students

2013

Background: E-Learning programs and their corresponding devices are increasingly employed to educate dental students during their clinical training. Objective: Recent progress made in the development of e-learning software as well as in hardware (computers, tablet PCs, smartphones) caused us to more closely investigate into the habits of dental students in dealing with these learning techniques. Methods: Dental students during their clinical training attended a survey compiled in cooperation with biostatisticians. The questionnaire probands were asked to complete based on previous surveys of similar subjects, allowing single as well as multiple answers. The data, which were obtained with re…

A methodology to compare and adapt e-learning in the global context

2010

In this paper, we present a solution how to test cultural influences on E-Learning in a global context. Based on a metadata approach, we show how specifically cultural influence factors can be determined to transfer and adapt learning environments. We present a method how those influence factors can be validated for both, to improve the dynamical meta-data specification and to be used in the development of (international) E-Learning scenarios.

Adaptivity in E-Learning Systems

2018

Abstract The differentiated designing of lessons from the virtual environment can have beneficial effects on the student. In order to achieve the objectives proposed in the course, the content should not only meet the student’s expectations but must be designed adaptively according to the defining elements of each learner. Adaptability in content is an essential factor in maintaining motivation, involving the student, and engaging him/her in the study. The paper analyses approaches for the adaptive building of content by identifying the elements that can influence the achievement of the objectives - motivation, expectation, learner’s style, a priori knowledge

PACS infrastructure supporting e-learning

2011

Digital imaging is becoming predominant in radiology. This has implications for teaching support, because conventional film-based concepts are now obsolete. The IHE Teaching File and Clinical Study Export (TCE) profile provides an excellent platform to enhance PACS infrastructure with educational functionality. This can be supplemented with dedicated e-learning tools.

Tutor-Sky: A web environment for multimedia on-line education

2005

Computer Science and Telecommunication technologies are being more and more integrated in teaching and learning systems. The subsequent modification of the educational world becomes a natural event towards a student who is immersed in a multimedia technological society and expects to find a similar learning environment. At present, multimedia is widely used in education to improve and integrate the learning processes and is ever more used in on-line education where the different media help in re-creating the “natural” interaction between teachers and students. There are many tools that allow creation and publication on web of learning contents, but none of them allows teachers to easily and…

Adaptive techniques in e-Learning for transnational programs

2019

In this article we present a set of methods and models to help the inclusion of information and communication technologies (ICTs) in transnational programs. The material that we are presenting takes advantage of several adaptive models that automatically react to students' activity. These models are extremely useful in environments where a huge number of very different students (such as those found in transnational programs) are enrolled in the courses or where the distance is a problem for face-to-face activities. We present the theoretical background, the gamification and adaptive techniques included in the model and the platform where the courses are implemented.
