This case report describes the forensic examination of 7 girls aged between 4-11 years with suspected sexual abuse. The children had been reported by local pediatricians, hospital physicians or authorities such as the youth welfare office and police due to mucosal changes in the anogenital area. All children presented with a clearly delimited, porcelain-like white discoloration of the skin in the anal and genital area with atrophic conversion to parchment-like skin. The markedly vulnerable skin exhibited very different manifestations of hemorrhagic dermal and mucosal defects in the area of the labia, the clitoris, the perineum and the perianal region. Adaptive designs allow a clinical trial design to be changed according to interim findings without inflating type I error. The Inverse Normal method can be considered as an adaptive generalization of classical group sequential designs. The use of the Inverse Normal method for censored survival data was demonstrated only for the logrank statistic. However, the logrank statistic is inefficient in the presence of nuisance covariates affecting survival. We demonstrate, how the Inverse Normal method can be applied to Cox regression analysis. Summary. In chronic hepatitis C, transient elastography (TE) accurately identifies cirrhosis, but its ability to assess significant fibrosis (Metavir ≥ F2) is variable. Constitutional and liver disease-related factors may influence TE and here we examined the variables associated with differences. Three hundred consecutive hepatitis C virus (HCV)-RNA positive patients had biochemical tests, TE and a biopsy performed on the same day. The objective was to assess the awareness of migraine and previous diagnostic and therapeutic consultations and treatments in a large international population of migraineurs. Human cationic amino acid transporter gene hCAT-2 is assigned to 8p22 but is not the causative gene in lysinuric protein intolerance

Lysinuric protein intolerance (LPI) is a recessively inherited amino acid disorder characterized by defective efflux of cationic amino acids at the basolateral membrane of the intestinal and renal tubular epithelium. Recently, cDNAs encoding the related proteins hCAT-2A and hCAT-2B have been cloned. These two carrier proteins are most likely the product of the same gene, hCAT-2. Using the hCAT-2B cDNA, we assigned the hCAT-2 gene to chromosome 8p22. Furthermore, by linkage analysis in Finnish LPI families, we ruled out that hCAT-2B is involved in LPI disease.
