Protein and DNA fingerprinting of a soil bacterial community inoculated into three different sterile soils
2007
The functional and genetic structures of a soil bacterial community were characterized after inoculation into three different sterile soils using a protein and DNA fingerprinting method, respectively. Principal component analysis (PCA) of profiles revealed that, depending on soil characteristics, bacterial communities with similar genetic structures harbored different functional structures and thus could potentially be of differing ecological significance for soil functioning. Co-inertia analysis between protein fingerprinting data and the corresponding sets of soil physicochemical characteristics demonstrated the correlation between the functional structure of the bacterial community and s…

Étude de statistiques combinatoires et de leur impact en optimisation évolutionnaire
2021
This thesis studies combinatorial objects, with both an algorithmic and a combinatorial point of view. In the combinatorial part, we take care first, the enumeration of Catalan words avoiding pairs of patterns of length three, presenting the proofs of each case with various enumeration methods. Catalan words are particular growth-restricted words counted by the eponymous integer sequence. More precisely, we systematically explore the structural properties of the sets of words under consideration and give enumerating results by constructive bijections or bivariate generating functions with respect to the length and descent number. Then, we study a sorting machine using two stacks in s…
Étude des propriétés optiques et spectroscopiques de nanorods dopés au lanthanide pour des applications de nanosondes en champ proche
2022
Lanthanide-doped nanoparticles constitute a versatile family of photoluminescent local nanoprobes. In this work, we study the photoluminescence of Eu3+-doped NaYF4 nanorods characterized by highly polarized spectra. We develop a full theoretical model and paraxial approximation for nanorod dipole emission. We measure the photoluminescence of individual nanorods by fluorescence confocal microscopy and determine some of their intrinsic optical properties. We also determine the nature (electric or magnetic) and orientations of dipoles moments of the optical transitions used for nanoprobing in the visible range. In addition to the full theoretical model and the paraxial approximation, Fourier mi…
Biological nitrogen fixation for the 21st century
1998
The biodiversity of nitrogen-fixing organisms is huge. Taxonomic and phylogenetic research is needed to structure this diversity, to facilitate communication among scientists, and to increase our understanding of the evolution and biology of diazotrophs. Molecular tools for taxonomic and biodiversity studies of diazotrophic rhizobia, frankiae, cyanobacteria and bacilli are presented in sections 2 to 5. Sections 6 to 9 focus on problems with genus and species assignment.

Combining ecophysiological and microbial ecological approaches to assess interaction between genotypes of Medicago truncatula and the soil bacterial …
2011
International audience; Microbial communities can play a key role in sustainable agriculture by improving crop growth. Currently, a major stake is to study the effect of the plant genotype on the shaping of the soil microbial communities in relation to the plant nutrition. Methods: The links between the plant genotype and the rhizospheric bacterial communities were assessed at both structural and functional level using a multidisciplinary approach. On the one side, the genetic structure (Automated Ribosomial Intergenic Spacer Analysis (ARISA)) and diversity (454 pyrosequencing) of bacterial communities of the rhizosphere was first analysed. On the other side, using an ecophysiological model…

Microbial Community Structure and Density Under Different Tree Species in an Acid Forest Soil (Morvan, France)
2005
Overexploitation of forests to increase wood production has led to the replacement of native forest by large areas of monospecific tree plantations. In the present study, the effects of different monospecific tree cover plantations on density and composition of the indigenous soil microbial community are described. The experimental site of "Breuil-Chenue" in the Morvan (France) was the site of a comparison of a similar mineral soil under Norway spruce (Picea abies), Douglas fir (Pseudotuga menziesii), oak (Quercus sessiflora), and native forest [mixed stand dominated by oak and beech (Fagus sylvatica)]. Sampling was performed during winter (February) at three depths (0-5, 5-10, and 10-15 cm…
