Brand assessment: a key element of marketing strategy
1997
The growing importance of the brand in the life of the company and in consumer perceptions has led many authors to base their analysis on brand value rather than the traditional approach in which its definition, its functions and its characteristics were amply developed. It is becoming increasingly obvious that the brand generates value for the company: brand value is the value of the marginal cash flows generated by a product due to the fact that it is identified with a brand. Brand value is generated by a series of multidimensional assets which interact in a complex way: loyalty; awareness; perceived quality; and identity. One of the main problems for a company wishing to develop a brand …
On Equivalent Random Traffic method extension
2011
The key result of the paper is the Equivalent Random Traffic (ERT) method extension for estimation of the throughput for schemes with traffic splitting. The excellent accuracy (relative error is less than 1%) is shown in numerical example. A numerical algorithm is given — how to estimate the throughput for schemes at traffic splitting and merging. The paper also contains new Erlang-B formula algorithm for non-integer number of channels based on parabolic approximation.
Confidence Intervals for the Mean Based on Exponential Type Inequalities and Empirical Likelihood
2013
For independent observations, recently, it has been proposed to construct the confidence intervals for the mean using exponential type inequalities. Although this method requires much weaker assumptions than those required by the classical methods, the resulting intervals are usually too large. Still in special cases, one can find some advantage of using bounded and unbounded Bernstein inequalities. In this paper, we discuss the applicability of this approach for dependent data. Moreover, we propose to use the empirical likelihood method both in the case of independent and dependent observations for inference regarding the mean. The advantage of empirical likelihood is its Bartlett correcta…
Notice of Violation of IEEE Publication Principles: Robust Observer Design for Unknown Inputs Takagi–Sugeno Models
2013
This paper deals with the observer design for Takagi-Sugeno (T-S) fuzzy models subject to unknown inputs and disturbance affecting both states and outputs of the system. Sufficient conditions to design an unknown input T-S observer are given in linear matrix inequality (LMI) terms. Both continuous-time and discrete-time cases are studied. Relaxations are introduced by using intermediate variables. Extension to the case of unmeasured decision variables is also given. A numerical example is given to illustrate the effectiveness of the given results.
Best Proximity Points for Some Classes of Proximal Contractions
2013
Given a self-mapping g: A → A and a non-self-mapping T: A → B, the aim of this work is to provide sufficient conditions for the existence of a unique point x ∈ A, called g-best proximity point, which satisfies d g x, T x = d A, B. In so doing, we provide a useful answer for the resolution of the nonlinear programming problem of globally minimizing the real valued function x → d g x, T x, thereby getting an optimal approximate solution to the equation T x = g x. An iterative algorithm is also presented to compute a solution of such problems. Our results generalize a result due to Rhoades (2001) and hence such results provide an extension of Banach's contraction principle to the case of non-s…
Bi-Lipschitz invariance of planar BV- and W1,1-extension domains
2021
We prove that a bi-Lipschitz image of a planar $BV$-extension domain is also a $BV$-extension domain, and that a bi-Lipschitz image of a planar $W^{1,1}$-extension domain is again a $W^{1,1}$-extension domain.
Quasisymmetric extension on the real line
2018
We give a geometric characterization of the sets $E\subset \mathbb{R}$ that satisfy the following property: every quasisymmetric embedding $f: E \to \mathbb{R}^n$ extends to a quasisymmetric embedding $f:\mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R}^N$ for some $N\geq n$.
Optimal Extensions of Conformal Mappings from the Unit Disk to Cardioid-Type Domains
2019
AbstractThe conformal mapping $$f(z)=(z+1)^2 $$ f ( z ) = ( z + 1 ) 2 from $${\mathbb {D}}$$ D onto the standard cardioid has a homeomorphic extension of finite distortion to entire $${\mathbb {R}}^2 .$$ R 2 . We study the optimal regularity of such extensions, in terms of the integrability degree of the distortion and of the derivatives, and these for the inverse. We generalize all outcomes to the case of conformal mappings from $${\mathbb {D}}$$ D onto cardioid-type domains.
Controlled diffeomorphic extension of homeomorphisms
2018
Let $\Omega$ be an internal chord-arc Jordan domain and $\varphi:\mathbb S\rightarrow\partial\Omega$ be a homeomorphism. We show that $\varphi$ has finite dyadic energy if and only if $\varphi$ has a diffeomorphic extension $h: \mathbb D\rightarrow \Omega$ which has finite energy.
Beitrag zum Divisionsproblem for Ultradistributionen und ein Fortsetzungssatz
1979
In this note we give a characterization of ultradistributions, which are supported by a single point. As a consequence we get a necessary condition for the solvability of the division problem for ultradistributions similar to the well-known condition in the case of distributions (cf. Malgrange [12]). Finally an extension theorem for ultradistributions is proved, using exponential growth conditions, that generalize the condition of Lojasiewicz [11].
