Voicing the challenges faced by an innovative teacher community

This research draws on sociocultural theories of learning and activity theory to explore the challenges faced by an innovative community of teachers in Central Finland. The aim of the teacher community was to develop a stream of foreign‐language (FL)‐mediated teaching and learning in the locality from kindergarten to upper secondary level. To achieve this goal, the teachers needed to form coherent groups within the member schools, as well as between the schools. Outcomes of teacher education in Finland: subject teachers compared with primary teachers

An exit survey performed for graduating students is an economical way to assess the outcomes of teacher education. In this study, exit survey data were collected from eight cohorts of Finnish student teachers who graduated between the years 2008 and 2015. A final sample consisted of 1102 preservice primary and subject teachers. A 10-item scale based on INTASC standards of teacher competency was used to measure graduates’ satisfaction regarding the knowledge and experience they had attained. Genetic-neuroimaging paradigms could provide insights regarding the pathophysiology of bipolar disorder (BD). Nevertheless, findings have been inconsistent across studies. A systematic review of gene-imaging studies involving individuals with BD was conducted across electronic major databases from inception until January 9th, 2017. Forty-four studies met eligibility criteria (N = 2122 BD participants). Twenty-six gene variants were investigated across candidate gene studies and 4 studies used a genome-wide association approach. La Facoltà di Storia a Cambridge, costruita nel 1967 su progetto di James Stirling, è uno dei più noti ed interessanti edifici di architettura moderna. Peraltro costituisce uno dei capolavori dello scomparso architetto inglese, vincitore del Pritziker Prize e della medaglia d’oro del Royal Institute of British Architects. L’edificio, dal forte impianto geometrico, interamente in mattoni rossi e vetro, richiama l’immagine di una serra vittoriana, ma numerose sono le allusioni all’ingegneria industriale.
