Tämän tutkimuksen aiheena oli Emmanuel Carrère’n romaani La Moustache ja sen analysointi fantastique-kirjallisuudenlajin edustajana. Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli yrittää löytää teoksesta piirteitä, joiden avulla se voitaisiin luokitella kyseiseen kirjallisuudenlajiin kuuluvaksi. Teoriaosuuden pääasiallinen lähde on Tzvetan Todorovin teos Introduction à la littérature fantastique. Teoriaosuudessa on ensin esitelty kirjailija sekä analysoitava teos pääpiirteittäin, jonka jälkeen siirrytään kuvaamaan genren käsitettä ja edelleen tarkemmin genreä fantastique.
