Bioaccessibility of bioactive compounds after non-thermal processing of an exotic fruit juice blend sweetened with Stevia rebaudiana

Abstract A comparative study of the bioaccessibility of bioactive compounds and antioxidant capacity in a fruit juice-Stevia rebaudiana mixture processed by pulsed electric fields (PEF), high voltage electrical discharges (HVED) and ultrasound (USN) technology at two equivalent energy inputs (32–256 kJ/kg) was made using an in vitro model. Ascorbic acid was not detected following intestinal digestion, while HVED, PEF and USN treatments increased total carotenoid bioaccessibility. Analysis of Chlorpyrifos in Water, Fruit Juice, and Honeybee Extract by Chemiluminescent Elisa

Abstract The suitability of competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) with chemiluminescent detection-based immobilized antigen (indirect assay) for rapid and accurate determination of chlorpyrifos in various food matrices was tested. The limit of detection (LOD) values were 1–1.75 ng mL−1, the standard curve midpoint (IC50) was 3.5 ng mL−1, and the assay duration was 1.5 h. Assay application to the analysis of honeybee extract resulted in chlorpyrifos recoveries varying between 62 and 83% in 5–15 ng mL−1 herbicide concentration range.

PLS-NIR determination of total sugar, glucose, fructose and sucrose in aqueous solutions of fruit juices

Abstract An analytical procedure has been developed for the direct determination of sugars in fruit juice samples. The method is based on the partial least-squares (PLS) treatment of first derivative near infrared (NIR) spectroscopic data obtained between 1200 and 2450 nm, using 1 mm pathlength cell and a multicomponent calibration set, including seven binary mixtures and 10 ternary mixtures of glucose, fructose and sucrose. The limit of detection values found are of the order of 0.2 g/100 ml for total sugar and 0.2, 0.4 and 0.5 g/100 ml for glucose, fructose and sucrose, respectively. Fludioxonil is a fungicide with a singular mode of action that is widely employed in the treatment of fruit crops. A competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (cELISA) has been developed and validated for the determination of residues of this fungicide in fruit juices. A collection of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) against the fungicide fludioxonil has been produced and characterized using direct and indirect cELISAs. Selenium bio-enrichment of Mediterranean fruit juices through lactic acid fermentation.

To this purpose, pomegranate and table red grape juices were added with sodium selenite (Na2SeO3) and fermented by Levilactobacillus brevis CRL 2051 and Fructobacillus tropaeoli CRL 2034 individually or combined. The objective was to develop a semiphysiological population pharmacokinetic model that describes the complex salbutamol sulphate absorption in rat small intestine. In situ techniques were used to characterize the salbutamol sulphate absorption at different concentrations (range: 0.15-18 mM).
