The lichen planus is a mucocutaneous disease with unknown etiology and auto-immune pathogenia. There have been three variants of lichen planus: the reticular, the plaque-like and the atrophic-erosive lesions. It?s a chronic disease with acute relapses that generally affects more frecuently to women from the fourties. The diagnostic is based on the clinic identification of the lesions joined with the histopathologic study (basal cells hidropic degeneration, linfoplasmocitic infiltration and absence of displasy signs). In personal communication we have never seen or heard of hair being detected in the oral cavity. Even Julia Pastrana, the famous ?Bearded Lady? of the 1800?s, had no record of oral hair, although her entire body was covered with hair. Extensive records of her oral condition, including plaster models of her teeth have been preserved in the Odontological Museum of the Royal College of Surgeons in London city. Oral lichen planus (OLP) has a prevalence of approximately 1%. The etiopathogenesis is poorly understood. The annual malignant transformation is less than 0.5%. There are no effective means to either predict or to prevent such event. Oral lesions may occur that to some extent look like lichen planus but lacking the characteristic features of OLP, or that are indistinguishable from OLP clinically but having a distinct cause, e.g. amalgam restoration associated. Such lesions are referred to as oral lichenoid lesions (OLLs). The management of OLP and the various OLLs may be different. Therefore, accurate diagnosis should be aimed at.

Pētījuma mērķis bija noskaidrot kādas saistības pastāv starp studentu sasniegumu motivāciju un uztverto atbalstu no ģimenes, augstskolas un kursabiedriem. Pētījumā piedalījās 62 Latvijas Universitātes studenti (58 sievietes, 4 vīrieši), vecumā no 18 līdz 53 gadiem (M = 24,32 gadi, SD = 5,59). Uztvertā atbalsta mērīšanai tika izmantota “Daudzdimensionālā atbalsta skala” (Multidimensional scale of perceived social support (MSPSS), Zimet, Zahlem, Zimet, & Farley, 1988; latviešu valodā adaptēja Voitkāne, Miezīte, Raščevska, 2004), kura tika paplašināta, lai iekļautu uztverto atbalstu no kursabiedriem, augstskolas kā institūcijas, augstskolas pasniedzējiem un studentu pašpārvaldes.
