Bakalaura darbs ir veltīts īpašvārdu, reāliju, metaforu un idiomu tulkošanas stratēģiju izpētei. Darba mērķis ir veikt komparatīvo, kvalitatīvo un kvantitatīvo analīzi korpusam, kas sastāv no četrām grupām – īpašvārdi, reālijas, metaforas un idiomas, franču-latviešu valodu kombinācijā, lai noskaidrotu, kuras stratēģijas ir vispiemērotākās to tulkošanai. Korpusa izveidei tika izmantotas divas grāmatas – Žila Verna grāmata « Astoņdesmit dienās apkārt zemeslodei » un tās tulkojums, ko veicis Andrejs Upīts. Bakalaura darbs sastāv no divām daļām. The Language of Quakers: idioms, words and abbreviations

The paper examines some of the words and expressions that have distinguished the members of the Quaker movement and helped to establish their religious identity. The Quaker lexicon has not remained unaltered in the course of three centuries. As is typical of most religious movements, also the Quakers have continually been adapting to social and cultural changes. This explains the existence of four relatively recent glossaries that account for the Quaker terms used in the twentieth century. The paper pays particular attention to "One Explorer's Glossary of Quaker Terms" by Warren Sylvester Smith (1985).

Over recent years, internet TV series have grown in popularity to become one of the audiovisual products with the highest audiences worldwide. The Covid crisis, with limitations on movement, has further increased their success during 2020-21. Uusia tutkimuksia idiomeista ja niiden oppimisesta tehdään jatkuvasti ympäri maailmaa, myös Suomessa. Changes of meaning due to changes of articles: A study of singular count nouns in post-verbal position in Italian

'Essi fecero un muro' vs. 'Essi fecero muro': on the surface, these Italian sentences differ only for the presence of an article before the post-verbal noun (PVN) 'muro', literally 'wall'. Despite this minor divergence, their VPs vary greatly in meaning: the former can be rendered as 'They built a wall', the latter as 'They put up resistance'. In Italian, many other nouns behave as 'muro' does above. The meanings come from distinct structures: PVNs preceded by an article are direct objects. Bare PVNs, at times the very same noun, can either pass tests for direct object-hood or show distinct syntactic ties with the verb.
Psycholinguistic norms for 320 fixed expressions (idioms and proverbs) in French

International audience; We provide psycholinguistic norms for a new set of 160 French idiomatic expressions and 160 proverbs: knowledge, predictability, literality, compositionality, subjective and objective frequency, familiarity, age of acquisition (AoA), and length. Different analyses (reliability, descriptive statistics, correlations) performed on the norms are reported and discussed. The norms can be downloaded as supplemental material.

Kivettyneet ilmaisut voidaan määritellä useamman sanan pituisiksi ilmaisuiksi, jotka käyttäytyvät yksittäisten sanojen tavoin. Näillä fraaseilla on aina osasanoista riippumaton merkityksensä, ja on hyvin todennäköistä, että mieli myös varastoi kaavafraasit kokonaisuuksina yksittäisten sanojen sijasta. Kivettyneet ilmaisut ovat tärkeitä kielen sujuvalle käytölle ja oppimiselle, sekä kielelle järjestelmänä, sillä ne nopeuttavat kahta ensimmäistä prosessia ja ovat kulttuurisidonnaisuudessaan kriittisiä viimeiselle.
