Mind anchors and heart grips: the role of HRM and LMX in internal branding
2021
Internal branding strategies, as in"selling" an organization’s brand to employees so that they will "sell" it to external stakeholders, is a common way for practitioners to get employees to activel...
The mediating role of work engagement on the relationship between job involvement and affective commitment
2013
This study examines job involvement and work engagement as predictors of affective commitment. Specifically, we test the proposal of Hallberg and Schaufeli (2006) that work engagement is a mediator of the relationship between job involvement and affective commitment using a survey of 405 Italian working adults. To test the model, mediation effects technique and structural equation modelling were applied to the collected data. Our hypothesis that work engagement fully mediates the relationship between job involvement and affective commitment was supported. This is the first study to demonstrate the importance of job involvement in promoting affective commitment via three dimensions of work e…
The minim…
An agenda model of organisational communication
2001
The purpose of the study is to analyse the meanings and valuations the members of a working organisation attach to organisational communication and to construct them into a model of meanings of organisational communication. The result is the agenda model of organisational communication. The model shows that members of a working organisation see the communication culture construct from four dimensions of meaning. The dimensions are: the use of the communication system, superior communication and ways of conduct, horizontal face‐to‐face communication and the functioning of the communication process. The agenda model is a new kind of method to get the information needed for the planning and de…
The role of Spanish local development and employment officers in human resource management
2009
The aim of this study is to contrast the existence of a significant relation between good human resource practices and business results. The empirical analysis is applied to strategies implemented by Local Development and Employment Officers (LDEOs) with regard to the management of social integration and job placement programs within the context of Local Development in Spain for both the universalist and contingent perspectives of Human Resource Management. The novelty of this study lies in the impact local development programs are having on social integration and job placement, and, in particular, the effects of project management.
Democratic Dialogue and Development: An Intellectual Obituary of Björn Gustavsen
2018
Abstract Bjorn Gustavsen, with an original professional background as a lawyer and judge in his native Norway, had a formative role in organisational development processes in Norway, Sweden, Scandinavia and the European Union over four decades. Following in the tradition of Norwegian working life research by Trist and Thorsrud, he provided the conceptual framework and practical case studies which have driven major national and international programmes. He learned from different experience of organisational change in, for example, the USA and Japan, but he identified a distinctive way forward for the European Union, where he acted as a senior adviser. In contrast to conventional Taylorist to…
The role of task-related antecedents for the development of turnover intentions in temporary project teams
2016
AbstractHigh turnover can cause serious problems in organizations. Yet, previous research confirmed that HRM practices are useful to influence the development of turnover intentions. Existing studies have revealed a variety of factors that drive individuals to leave permanent organizations (POs) but almost no research has considered turnover in temporary organizations (TOs). Yet, TOs, such as project teams, have become increasingly prevalent and exhibit several characteristics that are distinct from POs. Hence, the antecedents of turnover intentions in TOs may also differ from those in POs. However, empirical evidence for this proposition is still lacking. In order to address this research …
Limitations of rule 23 on the allocation of costs of teaching and research staff in Spanish public universities
2020
In March 2011, the model of cost accounting for Spanish public universities was approved and published based on the CANOA project of the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sport (MECD 2011). This paper focuses on rule 23 contained in chapter 8 of this document, where which regulates the treatment of the teaching and research dedication of university staff (PDI) and the allocation of corresponding cost to teaching, research and management. A reflection is made on certain points where there is the possibility of making different interpretations or in which satisfactory results are not obtained, with the consequences that this entails in the quality of the information and in the comparisons be…
