Innovation by co-evolution in natural resource industries: The Norwegian experience
2011
Author's version of an article published in the journal: Geoforum. Also avaliable from the publisher at: http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.geoforum.2011.01.008 Some resource-based economies become wealthy while others stay poor and Norway belongs to the first category. This paper argues that part of the answer to why Norway has managed to benefit from its rich natural resources is found in the formation of a well-functioning national innovation system. The paper integrates the innovation system approach with a historical approach through the concept of co-evolution. Walter Benjamin, taiteen toinen tekniikka ja avantgarden kulttuuripolitiikka
2018
This article provides a fresh look into Walter Benjamin’s famous essay, “Artwork in the Age of Mechanical Reproduction” (1936). Following Benjamin scholar Esther Leslie, we claim that Benjamin’s lesser-known concept of “second technique” is integral for understanding both the meaning of essay as well as mapping the political and artistic aims of the 1920’s avant-garde movements in general. The article is structured around two cases of avant-garde, both of which are central already for Benjamin, but remain somewhat under-theorized in connection to Benjamin. These are the Soviet constructivist film and the idea of glass construction in Weimar-era German architecture.

The Influence of Behavioral Factors on Insurance Decision – A Romanian Approach
2013
Abstract Although the classical economic theory postulates that individuals should make perfectly rational choices that take into account all the available information, I will present, in the following, the action of behavioral factors on the decisions regarding the insurance against certain events. I will analyze the elements that determine a person who should be covered against a risk, not to buy insurance and the reverse situation when, although the likelihood of the event is reduced, a person will secure against the damage(s) caused by it. In this paper I developed a general approach of the behavioral factors with specific reference to the Romanian market .Finally, I will suggest the in…
