Zoom in on Dry Joy—Dissensus, Agonism and Democracy in Art Education

Literature on art education often emphasizes dialogue as a preferred approach and as a way of practicing democratic education in museums and galleries. Dialogue-based tours in such contexts are often characterized by a sense of harmony and agreement. In contrast, this article discusses the democratic aspect and political potentiality when dissensus and agonism are used as central educational strategies. The point of departure for the discussion was a teaching session on the online platform Zoom with student teachers as part of their module on art and crafts at the University of Agder in Kristiansand, Norway, in spring 2020. Així s’expressava Josep M. de Sagarra l’any 1947 al pròleg de la seva Obra poètica (Sagarra 1947: xx). Aquesta al·lusió i adhesió a la poètica de Valéry, si més no en el que tenia (com l’horaciana i la goethiana) d’oposició a l’espontaneïtat creativa, d’entrada podria sorprendre en un autor de qui diversos testimonis donen constància de la seva gran facilitat per a escriure «a raig» (cf. Journalistic practices of science popularization in the context of users’ agenda: A case study of „New Scientist”

The article includes a discussion of two models which describe contemporary communication processes in journalism: agenda-setting and news value, indicating the need to expand their research tools to include qualitative methods, and merging the analyses of the reception and the message. It also includes indications as to the possibility, or even the social relevance, of the methods for applying those research perspectives to analysing journalism popularising science. Facing EL teachers' burnout through motivation

The educational institutions in many countries are faced with the  major problem of teacher burnout causing  high rates of  attrition and absenteeism. There is widespread agreement among researchers that  teacher burnout can effectively be countered through emphasis on  teacher motivation.  This article is about a 2-year qualitative research carried out by an English language teacher who focused on how to cope successfully with potential burnout conditions through a mutually reinforcing cycle of teacher and student motivation activated by the implementation of a Postmethod  emotion-focused pedagogical framework and the emphasis on the quality of life in the English classroom.
