The BioS4You European project: An innovative way to effectively engage Z-generation students in STEM disciplines

Can Do and Cannot Do – CEFR inspired examination and assessment in a Swedish higher education context

The focus in this paper is on the introduction and implementation of learning outcomes based on the descriptors in the Common European Framework of References for Languages (CEFR). It discusses reaction to the introduction by teacher educators as well as the influence on teacher assessment practice in courses for prospective teachers of English as a foreign language. The paper presents some of the results from a case study concerning changes made in connection with the Bologna process in a department of education within a university college in Sweden. Diplomdarba mērķis ir izpētīt kā tiešsaistes uzdevumi ietekmē angļu valodas vārdu krājuma apguvi sākumskolā. Diplomdarba autore uzskata, ka vārdu krājuma apguve ir viens no nozīmīgākajiem valodas aspektiem, kam ir liela nozīme sākumskolas skolēnu mācīšanā. Diplomdarba mērķa sasniegšanai darba autore izvēlējas atsevišķa gadījuma pētījuma metodi. Metodes, kas tika izmantotas datu vākšanā, ir anketēšana, priekšpārbaude un pēcpārbaude. Lai pārbaudītu kā tiešsaistes uzdevumi ietekmē skolēnu vārdu krājuma bagātināšanos, kopumā tika novadītas četras mācību stundas. Korpusa datu izmantošana mūsdienu mācību vārdnīcās angļu valodā

Mūsdienu leksikogrāfijā liela nozīme tiek piešķirta dažādiem korpusa izmantošanas paņēmieniem. Korpuss atklāj raksturīgākās valodas iezīmes un sniedz informāciju par noteiktu vārdu un frāžu leksiskajām pazīmēm. Bakalaura darbā pētīta korpusa datu izmantošana Longman, Oxford un Macmillan mācību vārdnīcās angļu valodā. Salīdzinošā analīze tika pielietota, lai salīdzinātu korpusa datu izmantošanu izvēlētajās vārdnīcās. Pētījuma rezultāti norādīja, ka korpusa datu izmantošana izvēlētajās vārdnīcās atšķiras diezgan pamanāmi, papildus tam rezultāti pierādīja, ka korpuss ir neaizstājama mūsdienu leksikogrāfijas sastāvdaļa. Our research fits in the overall framework of French as a Foreign Language oral teaching methods and focuses will deal with the phenomenon of “foreign accent”, those marks that reveal in transparency the presence of the phonological sieve of the mother tongue, and we will focus on the pronunciation of oral vowels in French by Polish-speaking learners. A preliminary study, descriptive and contrastive, of the phonological systems of Polish and French will allow us to make assumptions about perceptible interferences in the pronunciation of spoken French which might be at the origin of noise in the psycholinguistic decoding. In the article, the author attempts to show the role of andragogical journals in popularizing adult education in the Interwar period. Six Polish journals of nationwide circulation are characterized, as they reflected the socio-ideological profile of the state and the organizations which published them. In their columns, theoretical and methodological studies which facilitated work with adults were presented. Their major task was to support teachers and educators in their school and outside-school work with adult learners. Our basic assumption is that all voices are born from listening. We will focus on the pronouncing difficulties of the vowel /y/ by Polish learners of level A1/A2: a preliminary descriptive and comparative study, corroborated by an acoustic study, determined that the phoneme /y/ is often pronounced: 1) too posterior and/or too loose (thus tending towards the /u/); 2) too anterior (tending towards the /i/). However, the vowels /i/ and /u/ exist in Polish and are the closest corresponding sounds to the vowel /y/, absent in the Polish vocal system.
