Catalytic enantioselective aza-Reformatsky reaction with seven-membered cyclic imines dibenzo[b,f][1,4]oxazepines

A catalytic enantioselective aza-Reformatsky reaction is reported with cyclic dibenzo[b,f][1,4]oxazepines and ethyl iodoacetate leading to the synthesis of chiral ethyl 2-(10,11-dihydrodibenzo[b,f][1,4]oxazepin-11-yl)acetate derivatives with excellent yields and high enantioselectivities (up to 98% yield and 97 : 3 er) using a readily available diaryl prolinol L4 as the chiral ligand and Me2Zn as the zinc source under an air atmosphere. Furthermore, different transformations were carried out with the corresponding chiral β-amino esters, preserving in all cases the optical purity.

Globorotalia truncatulinoides in Central - Western Mediterranean Sea during the Little Ice Age

Abstract Globorotalia truncatulinoides oscillations have been recorded from different marine sediment cores collected in the central and western Mediterranean Sea. The abundances of this species over the last 500 yrs. demonstrates its potential value as bio-indicator of particular oceanographic condition during the Maunder Minimum (MM) event of the Little Ice Age (LIA). The comparison between the G. truncatulinoides abundance patterns of the Balearic Basin, central and south Tyrrhenian Sea and central and eastern Sicily Channel allows to highlight a similar response of this species during the MM event in the central-western Mediterranean Sea. Optimization of the Hydrolysis of Safflower Oil for the Production of Linoleic Acid, Used as Flavor Precursor

Commercial lipases, from porcine pancreas (PPL),Candida rugosa(CRL), andThermomyces lanuginosus(Lipozyme TL IM), were investigated in terms of their efficiency for the hydrolysis of safflower oil (SO) for the liberation of free linoleic acid (LA), used as a flavor precursor. Although PPL, under the optimized conditions, showed a high degree of hydrolysis (91.6%), its low tolerance towards higher substrate concentrations could limit its use for SO hydrolysis. p24 proteins are a family of type-I membrane proteins that cycle between the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) and the Golgi apparatus via Coat Protein I (COPI)- and COPII-coated vesicles. These proteins have been proposed to function as cargo receptors, but the identity of putative cargos in plants is still elusive. We previously generated an Arabidopsis (Arabidopsis thaliana) quadruple loss-of-function mutant affecting p24 genes from the δ-1 subclass of the p24 delta subfamily (p24δ3δ4δ5δ6 mutant).
