Analysis of pyridoquinoline derivatives by liquid chromatography/atmospheric pressure chemical ionization mass spectrometry
2001
A method using liquid chromatography/atmospheric pressure chemical ionization mass spectrometry (LC/APCI-MS) has been developed for the characterization and determination of pyridoquinoline derivatives 4,6-bis(dimethylaminoethylamino)-2,8,10-trimethylpyrido[3,2-g]quinoline, 4,6-bis(dimethylaminoethoxy)-2,8,10-trimethylpyrido[3,2-g]quinoline and 4,6-bis[(dimethylaminoethyl)thio]-2,8,10-trimethylpyrido[3,2-g] quinoline, all with potential antitumor properties. LC separation was performed on a conventional C18 column using a binary mobile phase composed of acetonitrile and 50 mM aqueous ammonium formate at pH 3. The APCI mass spectra obtained showed that proton addition giving [M + H]+ was the…
Comparison of liquid chromatography using triple quadrupole and quadrupole ion trap mass analyzers to determine pesticide residues in oranges.
2005
Liquid chromatography-triple quadrupole/mass spectrometry (LC-TQ/MS) and liquid chromatography-quadrupole ion trap/mass spectrometry (LC-QIT/MS) for determining bupirimate, hexaflumuron, tebufenpyrad, buprofezin, pyriproxyfen, and fluvalinate in fruits have been compared. The differences in the mass spectra obtained by triple and ion trap quadrupoles are discussed, showing how both of them provide interesting features. The evaluation of the two instruments was carried out by ethyl acetate extraction of oranges spiked with the studied pesticides at LOQ and 10 times the LOQ. Results obtained by LC-TQ/MS correlated well with those obtained by LC-QIT/MS. Recoveries were 70-94% by LC-TQ/MS and 7…
An electrospray ionization mass spectrometric study of the extracellular hemoglobins from Chironomus thummi thummi.
1998
The aquatic larvae of the dipteran, Chironomus thummi thummi contain extracellular hemoglobins which exhibit stage-specific expression. We have used maximum entropy-based deconvolution of the complex, multiply charged electrospray ionization mass spectra, to demonstrate the presence of more than 20 components, ranging in mass from 14,417.3 Da to 17,356.5 Da in the 4th instar larvae. Of the 15 major peaks with intensities > 10 relative to 100 for the 14,417.3 Da-component (CTT-IV), only the 15,528.2-Da peak does not correspond to a known amino acid sequence. Since the number of C. thummi thummi globin genes now stands at 27, including one cDNA and not counting three that must encode known gl…
Gas chromatographic and mass spectrometric analysis of bile acids as trifluoroacetyl-hexafluoroisopropyl and heptafluorobutyryl derivatives
1981
Abstract The gas chromatographic retention times on QF-1 of 38 bile acids in the form of their trifluoroacetyl-hexafluoroisopropyl (TFA-HFIP), trifluoroacetyl-methyl, and heptafluorobutyryl derivatives are given. In general hexafluoroisopropyl ester trifluoroacetates proved superior with regard to simplicity of preparation, absence of artifacts, and resolution on QF-1. The main disadvantages of heptafluorobutyrates were the production of artifacts with some ketonic bile acids and the impossibility of separating any of the dihydroxy bile acids with substituents in the 3,6- and 3,7-positions. Mass spectra of TFA-HFIP derivatives were recorded with both direct and gas chromatographic inlet sys…
Urban organic aerosol composition in Eastern China differs from North to South: Molecular insight from a liquid chromatography-Orbitrap mass spectrom…
2019
Particulate air pollution in China is influencing human health, ecosystem and climate. However, the chemical composition of particulate aerosol, especially of the organic fraction, is still not well understood. In this study, particulate aerosol samples with a diameter ≤ 2.5 μm (PM2.5) were collected in January 2014 in three cities located in Northeast, East and Southeast China, i.e., Changchun, Shanghai and Guangzhou, respectively. Organic aerosol (OA) in the PM2.5 samples was analyzed by ultrahigh performance liquid chromatography (UHPLC) coupled to high-resolution Orbitrap mass spectrometry in both negative mode (ESI−) and positive mode electrospray ioni…
The fragmentation of 5- and 3-substituted thiophene-2-carboxamides under electron impact
1980
The 70 eV electron impact mass spectra of twelve 5- and 3-substituted thiophene-2-carboxamides are discussed with the aid of exact mass measurements and labelling experiments. All mass spectra exhibit pronounced molecular ions. Some isomeric 5- and 3-substituted title compounds can be differentiated by mass spectrometry. The fragmentation is influenced by a strong ‘ortho-effect’ which activates the NH3 elimination. In the other cases the most important fragmentation is NH2˙ loss, followed by CO elimination.
Studies in organic mass spectrometry. Part 17—Formation of phenol radical ions by rearrangement of the molecular ions of someN-arylthiophenecarboxami…
1995
It has been shown by exact mass measurements and collision-induced dissociation mass-analysed ion kinetic energy spectra that the structure of the m/z 124 ion observed in the mass spectra of N-(4-methoxyphenyl)thiophene-2-carboxamide, N-(4-methoxyphenyl)thiophene-3-carboxamide, N-(4-methoxyphenyl)-5-nitrothiophene-3-carboxamide and N-(4-methoxyphenyl)benzamide is identical with that of the molecular ion of 4-methoxyphenol. This ion becomes abundant in metastable energy window reactions. A probable mechanism for its formation is discussed.
The Impact of the Mass Spectrum of Lenses in Quasar Microlensing Studies. Constraints on a Mixed Population of Primordial Black Holes and Stars
2020
We show that quasar microlensing magnification statistics induced by a population of point microlenses distributed according to a mass-spectrum can be very well approximated by that of a single-mass, "monochromatic", population. When the spatial resolution (physically defined by the source size) is small as compared with the Einstein radius, the mass of the monochromatic population matches the geometric mean of the mass-spectrum. Otherwise, the best-fit mass can be larger. Taking into account the degeneracy with the geometric mean, the interpretation of quasar microlensing observations under the hypothesis of a mixed population of primordial black holes and stars, makes the existence of a s…
A correlative IR, MS, 1H, 13C and 15N NMR and theoretical study of 4-arylthiazol-2(3H)-onesElectronic supplementary information (ESI) available: NMR …
2002
Sixteen 4-arylthiazol-2(3H)-ones (3) were synthesised by cyclisation of α-thiocyanatoacetophenones (1) in acid solution. They appear to prefer greatly the oxo tautomeric forms. In CCl4 solution an equilibrium between the free CO bond and a “dimeric” hydrogen-bonded form exists in which the latter predominates. Several IR and NMR (1H, 13C and 15N) spectral properties are shown to correlate with Hammett σ-values and/or atomic Mulliken charges and bond orders, the latter being estimated by PM3 or AM1 semiempirical methods. The electron-impact mass spectra were also recorded and the fragmentation mechanisms interpreted in terms of the energetics of the ionic species. In addition, the geometric …
Zinn - Chalkogen - Heterocyclen. I. 2.4.6-Hexamethyl-1.3.5-triselena-2.4.6-tristannacyclohexan, Massen- und Schwingungsspektren
2010
The mass spectrum of the title compound exhibits very similar fragmentation patterns compared with the sulfur analogon. The high stability of triply coordinated organotin cations is remarkable. There is no evidence for any stabilisation effects by pπ-dπ bonding concerning the ring bonds. The assignment of the vibration spectra leads to the conclusion that the molecule of triselenastanninane possesses a boat conformation.
