Peer mentoring is commonly used for didactical and learning purposes. In this study we examine peer group mentoring in the university context. The aim is to promote understanding of peer group mentoring based on a meta-analysis of two primary studies: teacher students and teacher group tutors. As a result, three core categories were found: 1) Individual’s participation in the group, 2) Professional development with others and 3) Community enabling sharing and development. Experience of medical students mentoring in an acute geriatric unit: Use of evidence-based medicine

International audience; n a retrospective study, we studied the learning experience of second and third year undergraduate medical students in the acute geriatric unit of a University Hospital.Students who did not receive Evidence based medicine (EBM) classes had lower grades than those who did in the final theoretical and practical evaluations (p < .01).Our experience suggested that the implementation of EBM in the curriculum through small, structured semiology courses tailored to the specificities of the elderly improved Evidence based practices for undergraduate medical students. EBM should improve instruction and mentoring during undergraduate students' clinical rotation.
Running a hybrid: mingling in-service and pre-service teachers in peer-mentoring groups

his study examines a hybrid form of the Finnish Peer-Group Mentoring (PGM) merging student teachers and in-service teachers of different career stages in group meetings facilitated by an educated mentor. Experiences of the in-service participants were studied by interviewing them, and the data were analysed through thematic analysis. Four main themes were identified: 1) Enjoying group activities, 2) Personal professional development, 3) Attaching to the professional community and 4) Developing the teacher profession. Atbalsta sistēma jauno skolotāju adaptācijas procesam skolā

Lai jaunais skolotājs justos pārliecināts, ne tikai teorētiskās un praktiskās zināšanas ir nepieciešamas, bet arī atbalsts gan no universitātes, gan no skolas ir vajadzīgs. Tādēļ darba autore bija ieinteresēta kāds atbalsts būtu labvēlīgs jaunajiem skolotājiem viņu adaptācijas procesā skolā. Pētījuma metode bija gadījuma pētījums, kas ietvēra diskusiju ar skolotājiem, strukturētu interviju ar 5 skolotājiem no Krāslavas un Līvāniem un fokusgrupas diskusiju ar 5 studentiem, kuri strādāja skolā. Tika atklāts, lai jauno skolotāju adaptācijas process būtu veiksmīgs, ir nepieciešams atbalsts gan no universitātes, gan no skolas, tomēr arī pašiem jaunajiem skolotājiem būtu jāizrāda iniciatīva meklē…
