Abstract The study explores the link between student's vocational identity, motivation for their study choice, satisfaction with different aspects of studies and thoughts of leaving their studies. The following instruments were administered: 1) Questionnaire on satisfaction with different aspects of study process and student's future 2) My Vocational Situation (MVS, Holland, Daiger, Power, 1980); 3) Questionnaire of motivation for study choice. Levels and change in autonomous and controlled work motivation in older workers—The role of proximity to retirement and sense of community at work

Previous studies suggest a preretirement disengagement process from work, which includes reduced work motivation. In this study, we investigated changes in autonomous and controlled work motivation over two years among participants of the Health, Aging and Retirement Transition in Sweden (HEARTS) study. We found stability in both types of motivation; however, those who retired after the study period showed more distinct declines in autonomous motivation. A stronger sense of community at work was related to level, but not change in autonomous motivation. Intra-individual fluctuations in the expected retirement age did not predict work motivation or vice versa. Future studies are needed to be…

In the specialized literature, the concepts of motivation and arbitrariness refer to very different realities. Using some essential readings, we endeavour to clarify these points in the "motivated vs arbitrary nature of lexical forms" debate inaugurated in Plato's Cratylus. Amongst other things, these reveal that the lexical motivation phenomenon is more complex than the supporters of the Saussurian doxa of arbitrariness would have us believe. This paper deals with the rather general and direct link that it would be tempting to envisage between motivation at work and performance. For example, multidimensional evaluations of motivation (IMTB) and job satisfaction (JDI) were related to a dichotomous variable of performance (objectives attained vs. not attained of 30 sales representatives of a bank). The differences observed only concerned the degree of demotivation of the employees known for not having reached their objectives (but without having affected their motivation in itself).
