Extended dipyrrin ligands : candidates for optical metal ion detection under competitive conditions

2017

Acylhydrazone based extended dipyrrins L1-H and L2-H are introduced as complexometric ppb sensitive metal ion detectors. The binding of lanthanide, transition as well as post-transition metal ions is followed by UV-Vis measurements. The carbohydrate based ligand L2 is water soluble and thus can act as a metal ion sensor in this medium.

High-Generation Amphiphilic Janus-Dendrimers as Stabilizing Agents for Drug Suspensions

2018

Pharmaceutical nanosuspensions are formed when drug crystals are suspended in aqueous media in the presence of stabilizers. This technology offers a convenient way to enhance the dissolution of poorly water-soluble drug compounds. The stabilizers exert their action through electrostatic or steric interactions, however, the molecular requirements of stabilizing agents have not been studied extensively. Here, four structurally related amphiphilic Janus-dendrimers were synthesized and screened to determine the roles of different macromolecular domains on the stabilization of drug crystals. Physical interaction and nanomilling experiments have substantiated that Janus-dendrimers with fourth gen…

On the G‐quadruplex binding of a new class of Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II) salphen‐like complexes

2021

The involvement of non-canonical DNA structures, such as Gquadruplex (G4) DNA, in cancer development and progression has set the pace towards the renaissance of DNA-binding metal complexes. In this work, we report the DNA-binding of three Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) complexes of a salphen-like N4-donor ligand, bearing two imidazole groups condensed with a phenylenediamine moiety. Both duplex and G4 DNAs derived from human telomeres (hTelo), and a sequence mimicking the promoter of the oncogene myc (c-myc) were studied. UV-Vis and circular dichroism spectroscopic binding studies pointed out that, while all the three complexes bind the selected oligonucleotides, the Cu(II) derivative is the strong…

Synthesis, structural characterisation and biological studies of new mononuclear platinum(II) complexes with sterically hindered heterocyclic ligands

2011

Abstract Three novel cisplatin analogues were synthesized, designed according to an approach which violates the “classical” structure–activity relationship, by replacing the diamine ligands with a planar N donor heterocycle giving a sterically hindered complex. Moreover, the sterical hindrance of antitumor drug candidates potentially makes them less susceptible to deactivation by sulphur-containing proteins and helping to overcome resistance mechanisms. The resulting mononuclear complexes of sterically hindered polidentate heterocyclic N ligands [PtCl(bbp)]Cl ( 1 ) [bbp = 2,6-bis(2-benzimidazolyl)pyridine], [PtCl 2 (dptdn)](H 2 O) ( 2 ) [dptdn = sodium 5,6-diphenyl-3-(2′-pyridyl)-1,2,4-tria…

Cyanido-Bridged FeII-MI Dimetallic Hofmann-Like Spin-Crossover Coordination Polymers Based on 2,6-Naphthyridine

2017

[EN] Two new 3D spin-crossover (SCO) Hofmann-type coordination polymers {Fe(2,6-naphthy)[Ag(CN)2][Ag2(CN)3]} (1; 2,6-naphthy = 2,6-naphthyridine) and {Fe(2,6-naphthy)- [Au(CN)2]2}·0.5PhNO2 (2) were synthesized and characterized. Both derivatives are made up of infinite stacks of {Fe[Ag(CN)2]2- [Ag2(CN)3]}n and {Fe[Au(CN)2]2}n layered grids connected by pillars of 2,6-naphthy ligands coordinated to the axial positions of the FeII centers of alternate layers.

Efficient synthesis of new C-functionalized macrocyclic polyamines

2010

A powerful synthetic route for the preparation of new poly-azamacrocycles, valuable precursors of bifunctional chelating agents with applications in nuclear medicine, is reported. The desired functional group was introduced onto the macro-cycle backbone during the cyclization step, thus avoiding the tedious preparation of a C-functionalized synthon. The regioselective reaction of macrocycles bearing an aminomethyl pendant arm with aldehydes is also described.

Cross-Linked Thiazolidine Network as Support for Palladium: A New Catalyst for Suzuki and Heck Reactions

2015

A thiazolidine-based material was used for the first time as support for palladium. The support was prepared by starting from a highly cross-linked thiazolium-based material, obtained by radical oligomerization of a bisvinylthiazolium dibromide salt in the presence of 3-mercaptopropyl-modified silica SBA-15. Palladium was immobilized by treatment with tetrachloropalladate salt. Reduction with sodium borohydride afforded a thiazolidine-based material that acted as ligands for the Pd species. The thiazolidine-based palladium catalyst was fully characterized and, working in only 0.1 mol% amount, displayed good activity in the Suzuki-Miyaura and in the Heck reactions. Several biphenyl and alken…

Oxygen Transfer from Trimethylamine N-oxide to CuI Complexes Supported by Pentanitrogen Ligands

2020

[N,N-bis(1-methyl-2-benzimidazolyl)methyl-N-(bis-2-pyridylmethyl)amine] ( L 1 ) and [N,N-bis(2-quinolylmethyl)-N-bis(2-pyridyl)methylamine] ( L 2 ) were employed to prepare Cu II  and Cu I  complexes for spectroscopic and structural characterization. [ L 1 Cu II (H 2 O)](NO 3 ) 2 and [ L 2 Cu II (NO 3 )]NO 3 have Jahn-Teller distorted octahedral geometries, and give rise to isotropic EPR spectra in frozen solution. [ L 1 Cu I (CH 3 CN)]OTf and [ L 2 Cu I (CH 3 CN)]OTf have distorted trigonal bipyramidal and tetrahedral solid-state structures, respectively. The N-donors display labile behavior in solution, based on variable-temperature 1 H NMR studies. Addition of trimethylamine N-oxide (Me …
