2019
Sociology and history have maintained a discontinuous relationship and a permanent discussion. Classical sociology is intrinsically historical, but after the first theoretical synthesis the dialogue between both disciplines was extinguished and it has often been necessary to defend the need for the historical view in sociology from the margins of the dominant paradigm. However, as a specialty or subdiscipline, historical sociology has consolidated its own academic space and a strong theoretical, methodological and conceptual body. In Spain this process of institutionalization has not yet success. In this article we expose a few arguments in defense of historical sociology, both theoretical …

2017
The research contribution is part of the PRIN “Success training, inclusion and social cohesion: innovative strategies, ICT and valuation models”, coordinated by G. Domenici at national level, which ended on 28th February 2016. Within the Research unit of Palermo different assumptions have been made, including that of school failure in the first cycle which would be diminished if teachers had implemented a more careful teaching to different ways of learning of male and female pupils. Intervention refers to the process of construction, implementation, narration and analysis of thirty gender teaching practices. The first research goal has been that of producing and validating tools to provide …
Migration in the visual arts: Re-narration and subtitling in social documentaries
2016
In today’s multilingual and multicultural settings, migration is often misunderstood and manipulated by a variety of promotional multimodal forms which describe the culture of migration as a negative process, resorting to distortions of language and corruptions of images instead of exalting the difference as a concept that is involved with connotations of enrichment and creativity. The aesthetics of migration has recently opened up in Europe as a consequence of the movement and transfer of cultural and artistic themes and figures in web newspapers and advertisements, the visual and performing arts, video arts, films and installations. Based on this, the present investigation will focus on t…
Narrazione, consapevolezza e resilienza
2017
Ghostbusters! On the Narrative Creation of (Absent) Leader Characters
2022
We seek to “bust out” ghost leaders, narrated leader(ship) characters manifesting leadership influence, to discuss the inherent challenges related to leaderless management. By taking the non-corporeal aspect of leadership into account, we challenge the notion of leaderless management—which we argue has turned out to be more of an inspiring and empowering idea rather than a standing practice. We illustrate, with a Finnish high-tech organization, how organizational members narrate leader characters into existence in the non-corporeal realm during an organizational change to fill the void of a corporeal leader. While organizations may declare themselves to be leaderless, they, in fact, are not…
Prymas Tysiąclecia w świetle współczesnych szkolnych podręczników historii
2020
The presented article shall discuss the school history education in the context of the persona of Primate Stefan Wyszyński. The article is not to analyze the image of the Polish cardinal in the digital web space, although it would comprise rich source material, but rather in the more traditional school textbooks which, however, are also available online as, e.g. PDF files.
Symbolika księżyca w Enarrationes in psalmos św. Augustyna
2018
: musiikki ja identiteetti sotiemme veteraanien ryhmämusiikkiterapiassa - etnografis-narratiivinen tutkimus
2016
Studies concerning music and identity have shown that the music which an individual values as important tells stories about the subjective reality of the individual (Lehtonen & Niemelä 1997; Baker & Wigram 2004). Through the use of individualized meaningful music in music therapy, a possibility for raising and evaluating processes connected with identity can be created (Magee & Davidson 2004b). Even recent brain studies have shown these connections. When meaningful music is used activity is observed within deep parts of the brain, suggesting a connection between contextualized meaningful music and activity in the brain where the pleasure and the autobiographical memory centers exist (Buruna…
Texts and Visuals in the Online Aesthetics of Migration: Translation as (Re)narration in the Creative Industries
2018
Texts and visuals in the online aesthetics of migration: Translation as (re)narration in the creative cultural industries Within the context of Computer-mediated communication discourse (Herring 1996; 2011, 2015), this study focuses on the investigation of Internet modalities and genres through which experiences of current migration are transferred from personal stories into online public narratives, also known as “transmedia storytelling” (Jenkins 2006; Jenkins, Ford, Green 2013). The art of telling migrant stories on the web produces acts of translation in terms of (re)statements of migrant lives. This mechanism owns a repository function, which is meant to spread narratives of migration …
