ChemInform Abstract: STUDIES ON THE SYNTHESIS OF HETEROCYCLIC COMPOUNDS. PART X. ONE-STEP ROUTE TO O 1,2-DIMETHYL-3-R-5-SALICYLOYLIMINO-3-PYRAZOLINES

1984

This communication outlines the development of a direct synthetic route to 1,2-dimethyl-3-R-5-salicyloyl-imino-3-pyrazolines, starting from readily available 3(5)-aminopyrazoles 1a, b, c and methyl salicylate. The structures of the new compounds 3a, b, c were determined on the basis of analytical and spectroscopic data as well as on the acid hydrolysis products.

ChemInform Abstract: Boron Functionalization of BODIPY by Various Alcohols and Phenols

2014

The synthesis of new B–O BODIPY derivatives functionalized with different alkoxy or diarylalkoxy derivatives is described. These compounds were synthesized from the reaction of different B–F BODIPY precursors with various alcohols and phenols, in the presence of AlCl3. Water-soluble dyes could be synthesized as well with this method, specifically by the introduction of polyethyleneglycol (PEG) groups. A photophysical study of the different compounds was performed, and showed that the B–O BODIPY derivatives exhibit rich fluorescence properties. Finally, the conjugation of the BODIPY core has been extended using two distyryl groups, hence providing NIR emitting BODIPY derivatives, in which on…

Calix[4]arenes bridged at the lower rim

1990

Calix[41 arenes, in which two opposite p-positions are linked by an aliphatic chain, and their derivatives show transport or complexation properties strongly dependent on the length of this chain. Bicyclo-calix[4]arenes, a special case of 1,3-bridged calix[41 arenes, and annelated calix[41 arenes, a special case of 1 ,&bridged calix [4] arenes, are also described. Although the preferred conformation of calix[4]arenes is the coneconformation due to its stabilization by a cyclic array of hydrogen bonds between the phenolic hydroxyl goups, these molecules are flexible, with a cone to cone inversion rate of about 150 8-1 for a calix[glarene at 47OC (ref. 1). The cone (or any other) conformation…

Trichomonazide Wirkstoffe, 3. Mitt. Aryloxy-chlor-1,3,5-triazine

1987

ChemInform Abstract: Organocatalytic Asymmetric Addition of Naphthols and Electron-Rich Phenols to Isatin-Derived Ketimines: Highly Enantioselective …

2015

A quinine-derived thiourea organocatalyst promoted the highly enantioselective addition of naphthols and activated phenols to ketimines derived from isatins. The reaction afforded chiral 3-amino-2-oxindoles with a quaternary stereocenter in high yields (up to 99 %) with excellent enantioselectivity (up to 99 % ee). To the best of our knowledge, this transformation is the first highly enantioselective addition of naphthols to ketimines.

Imidotungsten(VI) complexes with chelating phenols as ROMP catalysts

2011

Abstract Tungsten(VI) complexes of the type [W(NPh)Cl3(L)] (L = chelating phenolate) were studied as catalyst precursors for ROMP of 2-norbornene, dicyclopentadiene and 5-vinyl-2-norbornene. These compounds form active catalysts when treated by ethyl magnesium bromide. Moreover, polymerisations can be run under ambient atmosphere without complicated inert atmosphere techniques. Synthesis and crystal structure of a new precursor complex [W(NPh)Cl3(LS)] (LS = 2,4-di-tert-butyl-6-(phenylthiomethyl)phenolate) are also described.

Green coffee, bioactive compounds’ analysis of experimental cultivation in Sicily: a new frontier in the Sicilian food sector

2023

Recently, climate change represents a new possibility for tropical cultivars fruit in Mediterranean areas. The focus of this work is the evaluation of the real possibility of coffee cultivation in Sicily, like coffee plants grown in tropical and subtropical regions. The objective was to evaluate plant adaptation to our climate and to study the chemical qualities of green coffee pulps and seeds: total phenolic content, antiradical capacity, fatty acids, amino acids, alkaloids, vitamins, proximate composition, polyphenolic profile and other bioactive compounds of cosmetic, pharmaceutical and agrary interest. Temperature, light and vegetative growth of Coffea arabica L. cv. “Caturra” plants we…

Current development of CFTR potentiators in the last decade

2020

Cystic fibrosis (CF) is a genetic disorder produced by the loss of function of CFTR, a main chloride channel involved in transepithelial salt and water transport. CFTR function can be rescued by small molecules called "potentiators" which increase gating activity of CFTR on epithelial surfaces. High throughput screening (HTS) assays allowed the identification of new chemical entities endowed with potentiator properties, further improved through medicinal chemistry optimization. In this review, the most relevant classes of CFTR potentiators developed in the last decade were explored, focusing on structure-activity relationships (SAR) of the different chemical entities, as a useful tool for t…

Prevention of 7-Ketocholesterol-Induced Overproduction of Reactive Oxygen Species, Mitochondrial Dysfunction and Cell Death with Major Nutrients (Pol…

2020

The brain, which is a cholesterol-rich organ, can be subject to oxidative stress in a variety of pathophysiological conditions, age-related diseases and some rare pathologies. This can lead to the formation of 7-ketocholesterol (7KC), a toxic derivative of cholesterol mainly produced by auto-oxidation. So, preventing the neuronal toxicity of 7KC is an important issue to avoid brain damage. As there are numerous data in favor of the prevention of neurodegeneration by the Mediterranean diet, this study aimed to evaluate the potential of a series of polyphenols (resveratrol, RSV
