Base-Dependent Stereodivergent Intramolecular Aza-Michael Reaction: Asymmetric Synthesis of 1,3-Disubstituted Isoindolines

The nucleophilic addition (A(N)) / intramolecular aza-Michael reaction (IMAMR) process on Ellman's tert-butylsulfinyl imines, bearing a Michael acceptor in the ortho position, is studied. This reaction affords 1,3-disubstituted isoindolines with a wide range of substituents in good yields and diastereoselectivities. Interestingly, careful choice of the base for the aza-Michael step allows either the cis or the trans diastereoisomers to be exclusively obtained. This stereodivergent cyclization has enabled the synthesis of C2-symmetric bisacetate-substituted isoindolines. Alfa-hydroxy-isocaproic acid (HICA) is an end product of leucine metabolism in human tissues such as muscle and connective tissue. Clinical and experimental studies indicate that HICA may be considered as an anti-catabolic substance. Intensive exercise leads not only to anabolism but also to catabolism in the muscle. The latter is associated with breakdown of muscle proteins and delayed-onset muscle soreness (DOMS). Several studies indicate that free branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs), especially leucine, and their transaminated metabolites, such as α-ketoisocaproic acid (KIC), may alleviate symptoms associated with exercise-induced catabolism. AbstractThe purpose of this work was to see whether hyperlipaemia observed in genetically obese Zucker rats (fa/fa) was associated with differences in fatty-acid composition of plasma triacylglycerols, plasma phospholipids and of platelet phospholipids, in comparison with the control lean rats (Fa/-).Results showed that plasma triacylglycerols and phospholipids were increased in obese rats. Synthesis and thermal decomposition studies of homo- and heteroleptic tin(iv) thiolates and dithiocarbamates: molecular precursors for tin sulfides

The syntheses and X-ray structures of novel heteroleptic thiolate/dithiocarbamate derivatives (Et2NCS2)2(RS)2Sn (R = Cy, CH2CF3) have been examined and their thermal decompositions compared with those of selected tin(II) and tin(IV) dithiocarbamates. The heteroleptic species decompose to SnS by initial elimination of RSSR to afford (Et2NCS2)2Sn and subsequent loss of [Et2NC(S)]2S. In contrast, (Et2NCS2)4Sn decomposes via [(Et2NCS2)2SnS]2, whose structure has been determined, and finally to SnS2 by sequential elimination of [Et2NC(S)]2S. Abstract Reaction of tert -butyllithium with p - and m -substituted cinnamic acids at low temperature affords mixtures of 1,4- and 1,3-addition products, whose composition depend on the nature of the substituents. Electron-donating and electron-withdrawing groups favour 1,4- and 1,3-additions, respectively. Linear correlations are obtained with electronic effect and with radical substituent constants.

The present paper is an extended abstract which should be considered as an introduction to the papers already published by us on this new topic. An extended synthesis of these papers was given in the lecture. The original information introduced here is the figure. It is a PH2O vs. T diagram which gives the pre-reactional domain between the stability domains of calcium hydroxide and calcium oxide. Chemical reactions are proposed as an interpretation of the observed pre-reactional transformations.

Films of Me-Ce oxide (Me: Ti, Zr, Sn, W) and of Ni-Ce hydroxide were produced by reactive magnetron co-sputtering. Li intercalation in Me-Ce oxide, and H exchange in Ni-Ce hydroxide, were accomplished electrochemically. Electrochromism was quenched in proportion with the Ce content in Me-Ce oxide. Films of Zr-Ce (and to some extent Ti-Ce) oxide were able to serve as fully transparent counter electrodes, of much interest for transparent electrochromic devices. In Ni-Ce hydroxide, the Ce addition enhanced the capacity for charge exchange.

Single crystals of Na40K6[Ni(H2O)6]3 [K@K7Ce24Ge12W120O456 (OH)12(H2O)64]· 178H2O are synthesized by addition of KCl to a NaOAc/AcOH buffer solution containing Ce(NO3)3, GeO2, Na2WO4, and NiCl2 followed by slow evaporation at room temperature (24% yield).
