El proyecto mapa escolar de Valencia: Análisis de la zonificación educativa de la ciudad de Valencia
2018
The research project Mapa Escolar de Valencia (School Map of Valencia) was born out of an agreement between the City Council and the University of Valencia in order to carry out an investigation of the compulsory education system of the city and propose, if necessary, modifications to the current school zoning. The project is structured in several research areas. An analysis of the specialized scientific literature and public policies concerning education and schooling has been done, and it is currently analysing the evolution of quantitative and qualitative data on compulsory schooling in Valencia, its school zoning, the representations of education and the school climate in the city schoo…
Aortic stiffness in patients with early sepsis
2014
Acute and chronic systemic inflammatory conditions are associated with aortic stiffening. Carotid-femoral pulse wave velocity (PWV), a marker of aortic stiffness, increases in patients with inflammatory diseases and independently correlates to levels of C-reactive protein (CRP). The effects of massive inflammatory response in early sepsis on mechanical properties of the aorta have not been investigated. The objective of the current study was to prospectively assess aortic stiffness in patients with early severe sepsis and septic shock and relate it to inflammatory and haemodynamic variables and outcome.
Acute aortic dissection type A
2012
Abstract Background Acute aortic dissection type A (AADA) is a life-threatening vascular emergency. Clinical presentation ranges from pain related to the acute event, collapse due to aortic rupture or pericardial tamponade, or manifestations of organ or limb ischaemia. The purpose of this review was to clarify important clinical issues of AADA management, with a focus on diagnostic and therapeutic challenges. Methods Based on a MEDLINE search the latest literature on this topic was reviewed. Results from the German Registry for Acute Aortic Dissection Type A (GERAADA) are also described. Results Currently, the perioperative mortality rate of AADA is below 20 per cent, the rate of definitive…
Sturmian words and overexponential codimension growth
2018
Abstract Let A be a non necessarily associative algebra over a field of characteristic zero satisfying a non-trivial polynomial identity. If A is a finite dimensional algebra or an associative algebra, it is known that the sequence c n ( A ) , n = 1 , 2 , … , of codimensions of A is exponentially bounded. If A is an infinite dimensional non associative algebra such sequence can have overexponential growth. Such phenomenon is present also in the case of Lie or Jordan algebras. In all known examples the smallest overexponential growth of c n ( A ) is ( n ! ) 1 2 . Here we construct a family of algebras whose codimension sequence grows like ( n ! ) α , for any real number α with 0 α 1 .
Blocks with Equal Height Zero Degrees
2009
We study blocks all of whose height zero ordinary characters have the same degree. We suspect that these might be the Broue-Puig nilpotent blocks.
Children’s Engagement with Mathematics in Kindergarten Mediated by the Use of Digital Tools
2013
The purpose of this chapter is to study children’s engagement with mathematics in kindergarten mediated by digital tools within the context of interactive whiteboard (IWB). Our study reports from a research project aiming at analysing in what ways digital tools may nurture children’s appropriation processes relative to mathematics. In adopting a sociocultural perspective on learning and development, observations together with video recordings have been analysed. Our study shows that the children make sense of the digital tools and are able to apply the tools purposefully due to the interaction with an adult within the zone of proximal development (ZPD). The children externalise their reason…
Investigating the Impact of Radiation-Induced Soft Errors on the Reliability of Approximate Computing Systems
2020
International audience; Approximate Computing (AxC) is a well-known paradigm able to reduce the computational and power overheads of a multitude of applications, at the cost of a decreased accuracy. Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs) have proven to be particularly suited for AxC because of their inherent resilience to errors. However, the implementation of AxC techniques may affect the intrinsic resilience of the application to errors induced by Single Events in a harsh environment. This work introduces an experimental study of the impact of neutron irradiation on approximate computing techniques applied on the data representation of a CNN.
Hop: Histogram of patterns for human action representation
2017
This paper presents a novel method for representing actions in terms of multinomial distributions of frequent sequential patterns of different length. Frequent sequential patterns are series of data descriptors that occur many times in the data. This paper proposes to learn a codebook of frequent sequential patterns by means of an apriori-like algorithm, and to represent an action with a Bag-of-Frequent-Sequential-Patterns approach. Preliminary experiments of the proposed method have been conducted for action classification on skeletal data. The method achieves state-of-the-art accuracy value in cross-subject validation.
Julma ja kiehtova itä : muslimit englanninkielisissä maantieteen teoksissa 1700-luvun jälkimmäisellä puoliskolla
2010
