Students’ Opinions on Financial Compensation from Project Work

Project-based learning with real customers arguably offer value for all stakeholders. This value has been discussed in literature both from the viewpoint of customers and the related economic value, and the enhanced learning of students. This paper presents the results from an empirical study on students who have completed a multidisciplinary project course with real customers. A qualitative survey was focused on how students see the value of project-based learning and whether there should be financial compensation to students. Klases projektos balstīta mācīšanās skolēnu komunikācijas prasmju uzlabošanai 8. klasē

Šajā diplomdarbā tā autors pēta projektos balstītu mācīšanos kā skolēnu orālo komunikācijas prasmju uzlabošanas metodi. Šīs prasmes skolēniem nepieciešamas, jo 9. klases noslēgumā viņiem jākārto valsts eksāmens, kura vērtēšanas kritērijos iekļautas komunikācijas prasmes. Pētījumā laikā tika izmantots gadījuma pētījums, kurš koncentrējās uz divām 8. klašu grupām. Pirms un pēc gadījuma pētījuma skolēni aizpildīja aptaujas, kuras, kopā ar aizpildītajām pašrefleksijām atklāja, ka skolēnuprāt, projekta laikā uzlabojās gan viņu komunikācijas, gan grupu darba organizēšanas prasmes. Mathematical modelling and activation – a study on a large class, a project-based task and students' flow

International audience; We studied how engineering students in a large class (n=346) can be activated by a project-based task, in which they have to model mathematically the motion of an object. The students had to throw an object, use (1) their smart phones for filming, and (2) tracker software for capturing the motion. Through a poster, they had to report their video analysis. We framed activation through the concept of flow, which is a state of being fully absorbed by an activity. We administered a web-based questionnaire (response rate 69%).
