Assessment of Adult Mouse Brain Neuroanatomical Phenotypes Using Quantitative and Precision Histology
2022
Modelling human neurodevelopmental disorders is important in biomedical research since the brain cannot be easily accessed in humans. In this chapter, we describe a series of standardized procedures for the reliable analysis of neuroanatomical phenotypes (NAPs) of the adult mouse brain using quantitative 2D histological practices. Our goal is to provide the reader an experimental pipeline, ranging from experimental work through to data analysis, which can be performed in any academic research setting with or without access to a histology platform. Depending on the type of sections studied, parasagittal or coronal, the assessment of brain neuroanatomy is performed at stereotaxic sections, at…
Technosols to reclaim industrial wastelands: depth distribution of abundance and activity of N-cycling microbial communities
2012
International audience; Construction of Technosols through assemblage of treated soil and recycled wastes is an innovative option for the restoration of degraded lands and re-use of industrial wastes. Recent studies have evidenced that Technosols could support soil functions such as primary production but the knowledge about other ecosystemic services, such as nutrient cycling, is limited. In this work, we investigated the abundance and the activity of microbial communities involved in N-cycling in different horizons (0–15, 15–35, 35–70 cm) of two types of Technosols constructed to reclaim an industrial wasteland. The estimation by real-time PCR of the abundances of the different microbial …

The distribution of sodium within cooked food and sodium interactions with the matrix depends on both food matrices and salting practices
2021
The quantitative maps results show that the sodium distribution is more heterogeneous in the carrot salted after cooking than in the carrot salted during cooking The salt diffusion during 5 hours after the 20 minutes of cooking for cooked carrot either salted during cooking or salted after cooking show an homogenization of the sodium
Development of a knowledge graph framework to ease and empower translational approaches in plant research: a use-case on grain legumes
2023
Legumes, and especially pulses, are an important source of protein for food and feed, and are appreciated for their positive impact on the “one health”. However, their unstable yields and their susceptibility to biotic and abiotic stresses highlight the need for varietal improvement in order to increase the cultivated areas and productivity. With the advent of sequencing technologies, a large pool of genetic and -omics resources, heterogeneous at the inter- and intra-species scale, is emerging. Thus, it is important to capitalize on these scattered heterogeneous data to develop translational research to boost breeding projects and crop diversification. To meet this need, we undertook the de…
Impact of a new bio-pesticide produced by Paenibacillus sp. strain B2 on the genetic structure and density of soil bacterial communities
2007
The effect of paenimyxin, a new biopesticide produced by Paenibacillus sp. strain B2, on the density of soil bacterial communities was assessed by colony counting and by 16S rDNA and nirK quantitative polymerase chain reaction (PCR). Paenimyxin had a negative effect on the bacterial colony-forming unit (CFU) number, which was significantly reduced 2 and 4 days after treatment. The effect of paenimyxin on cultivatable bacteria was negligible 7 days after treatment. Approximately 107 16S rDNA sequences per gram of soil (dry weight) were detected by quantitative PCR in all samples. Paenimyxin did not affect the quantification of 16S rDNA or of the denitrifying bacterial community. In addition,…

Recovery and stress states: Did perceived control and goal attainment matters during tapering period?
2019
IF: 1.148 (Q2); International audience; We examined whether perceived control predict recovery and stress states during an ecological tapering period of 2-weeks that led to the target competition of the year for 39 expert adolescent swimmers (13 women and 26 men; Mage = 17.56; SD = 2.09 years). Swimmers completed quantitative measures (RESTQ-36-R-Sport; Perceived control; A-SAGS) before (Pre_Tapering) and after (Post_Tapering) the tapering period in order to monitor their recovery and stress states, perceived control and goal attainment. Regression analyses integrated perceived control and goal attainment as explicative variables, and Pre_Tapering covariates were included to the model. One …
