Higher order chromatin structure is not only required to compact and spatially arrange long chromatids within a nucleus, but have also important functional roles, including control of gene expression and DNA processing. Mutant p53 induces Golgi tubulo-vesiculation driving a prometastatic secretome

TP53 missense mutations leading to the expression of mutant p53 oncoproteins are frequent driver events during tumorigenesis. p53 mutants promote tumor growth, metastasis and chemoresistance by affecting fundamental cellular pathways and functions. Here, we demonstrate that p53 mutants modify structure and function of the Golgi apparatus, culminating in the increased release of a pro-malignant secretome by tumor cells and primary fibroblasts from patients with Li-Fraumeni cancer predisposition syndrome. Comparison between iMSD and 2D-pCF analysis for molecular motion studies on in vivo cells: The case of the epidermal growth factor receptor.

Image correlation analysis has evolved to become a valuable method of analysis of the diffusional motion of molecules in every points of a live cell. Here we compare the iMSD and the 2D-pCF approaches that provide complementary information. The iMSD method provides the law of diffusion and it requires spatial averaging over a small region of the cell. The 2D-pCF does not require spatial averaging and it gives information about obstacles for diffusion at pixel resolution. We show the analysis of the same set of data by the two methods to emphasize that both methods could be needed to have a comprehensive understanding of the molecular diffusional flow in a live cell.

Lipidomic analysis is able to measure simultaneously thousands of compounds belonging to a few lipid classes. In each lipid class, compounds differ only by the acyl radical, ranging between C10:0 (capric acid) and C24:0 (lignoceric acid). Although some metabolites have a peculiar pathological role, more often compounds belonging to a single lipid class exert the same biological effect. Portable remote photoplethysmography device for monitoring of blood volume changes with high temporal resolution

The compact remote photoplethysmography device for monitoring of blood volume pulsations from human skin were developed. The prototype device comprises electronics board with twelve circullary oriented bright near-infrared LED illuminators, which are precisely controlled, high-speed video camera and battery charging circuit. Device was tested in laboratory and could be used for non-contact monitoring of human blood volume changes in palm.

This study presents a new way to study bacterial colonies and interactions between bacteria and their viruses, bacteriophages (phages), in situ on agar plates using helium ion microscopy (HIM). CAMKIIγ suppresses an efferocytosis pathway in macrophages and promotes atherosclerotic plaque necrosis

Atherosclerosis is the underlying etiology of cardiovascular disease, the leading cause of death worldwide. Atherosclerosis is a heterogeneous disease in which only a small fraction of lesions lead to heart attack, stroke, or sudden cardiac death. A distinct type of plaque containing large necrotic cores with thin fibrous caps often precipitates these acute events. Here, we show that Ca2+/calmodulin-dependent protein kinase gamma (CaMKII gamma) in macrophages plays a major role in the development of necrotic, thin-capped plaques.
