Was there a lunar eclipse that could have influenced the outcome of the Battle of Alesia? This is the argument developed in the book by Alain Deyber and David Romeuf, «Les Derniers Jours du Siège d'Alésia». Having verified the existence of an eclipse on the date given by the authors and based on the latest publications as well as on the scientific consensus, we conduct a critical study on the chronology of the siege and on the ethnological arguments, even ethno-astronomical of the authors.

Lots of lithic tools are present in Metal Ages, but few are studied. In metal production, they are especially constitued by strike supports, abrasives, burnishers, sharpening tools and crushing tools. A part of them are in metal ( strike supports) or in ceramic (abrasives, sharpening tools). Contemporary forms of these tools are too different to permit a dierct comparison. The 8th Augustan Legion was installed at Mirebeau-sur-Bèze (Côte-d'Or) after 70 AD following the troubles that arose with the Lingons. It remained there until the time of Domitian, a period of roughly twenty years, during which time the soldiers produced tiles stamped with the name of the legion. Analysis of the dispersion of the tiles in the region around Mirebeau shows that they followed the communication routes. Cavaillon (84), Ancienne cathédrale Notre-Dame-et-Saint-Véran. Suivi archéologique de sondages géotechniques

Pour les besoins de l’étude géotechnique, six sondages ont été creusés dans et autour de l’ancienne cathédrale de Cavaillon en février 2020. Ils avaient pour objectif de comprendre les désordres structurels observés sur l’édifice en mettant à jour les fondations des différentes constructions (chapelles, chevet, nef et annexe). Compte-tenu du contexte archéologique, le Service Régional de l’Archéologie de PACA a prescrit leur suivi archéologique. L’objectif était de documenter les niveaux d’occupation mis au jour sans détruire les vestiges remarquables, en particulier les maçonneries et les sépultures. Le diagnostic de l’avenue du Général de Gaulle se situe au sud-est du village actuel de Laudun. Malgré un environnement archéologique relativement riche, cette intervention n’aura livré, sur les 16 000 m² testés, qu’une fosse de l’âge du Bronze, témoin le plus méridional de l’occupation identifiée sous le lotissement de l’Oppidum, deux fossés encadrant peut-être un chemin antique et une fosse récente contenant les restes d’un équidé. Au nord, la présence marquée de mobiliers antiques dans les sédiments de surface du lotissement de l’Oppidum laissait présager une occupation de cette période à proximité, qui n’a pas été confirmée sur l’emprise de ce nouveau diagnostic.
