The first silver(I) nitrate π-complexes with unsaturated organosilicons: Synthesis and structural characterization of [Ag(DADPS)xNO3] (DADPS=diallyld…
2011
Abstract Tetraethylene glycol dimethyl ether (tetraglyme) was used for the first time to induce the activation of silver nitrate resulting in the step-by-step formation of complexes with diallyldiphenylsilane (DADPS). Two crystal compounds of this series were examined by FTIR spectroscopy and X-ray diffraction. The analysis of the obtained data showed that the Ag (C C) η 2 -interaction is involved in the synergistic effect of intra and intermolecular forces. In particular the interlayer π–π stacking interactions promoted by asymmetric weak Ag C(phenyl) bond have a significant influence on the thermal behavior and stability of the synthesized products. It was also found that a decrease of si…
Committenze ospitaliere d'arte decorativa siciliana. Coralli barocchi e argenti rococò
2016
Il contributo analizza manufatti d'arte decorativa siciliana, in particolare coralli barocchi e argenti rococò, commissionati da Cavalieri dell'Ordine di Malta che oggi si trovano in importanti collezioni melitensi. The essay deals with Sicilian decorative artefacts, in particular baroque corals and rococo silverware, commissioned by Knights of the Order of Malta, which are now found in important collections in Malta.
Presentazione
2018
The volume by Calogero Ridulfo is presented, highlighting the news that enriches the knowledge of the artistic heritage of the last part of the Middle Ages in Corleone when important painters worked there, from Tommaso De Vigilia to Pietro Ruzzolone, alongside other skilled artists now stolen from oblivion
The benedictine church and monastery of Santa Maria Maddalena of Corleone. Works of art and documents
2019
This work examines the different phases of construction of the church and the monastic complex of Santa Maria Maddalena of Corleone, an important centre in the Sicilian hinterland, focusing in par…
<title>Primary radiation defect formation in silver halides</title>
1998
Under irradiation the formation of primary intrinsic defects in silver halide solid solutions AgBr1-xClx take place via strong exciton-phonon interaction. Efficiency of these defects formation depend on solid solution composition and within 0 <EQ x <EQ 0.15 dependence on temperature was observed too. Estimation shows efficiency of defects creation is approximately 0.01 for AgCl and noticeably higher for AgBr.© (1998) COPYRIGHT SPIE--The International Society for Optical Engineering. Powder X-ray diffraction data for potassium silver thiocyanate, AgK(SCN)2 and dipotassium silver thiocyanate, AgK2(SCN)3
2002
Previously unpublished powder X-ray diffraction data for potassium silver thiocyanate, AgK(SCN)2 and dipotassium silver thiocyanate, AgK2(SCN)3 are presented. F30 values for AgK(SCN)2 and AgK2(SCN)3 are 80(0.0075, 50) and 53(0.0089, 63), respectively. The Rietveld refinement of the patterns is also performed. For AgK(SCN)2Rp=6.98, Rwp=11.84, and RBragg=2.9. For AgK2(SCN)3Rp=7.22, Rwp=10.79, and RBragg=5.0.
Insights into the Mechanism of Cumene Peroxidation Using Supported Gold and Silver Nanoparticles
2013
Due to the considerable industrial implications, an in-depth study of cumene peroxidation using supported gold and silver nanoparticles was carried out to gain more insight into the mechanism of this reaction. Supported gold nanoparticles were found to efficiently catalyze the decomposition of cumene hydroperoxide with a selectivity of 25% at 80 °C when using gold supported on hydrotalcite (AuNP@HT), and 2-phenyl-2-propanol (i.e., cumyl alcohol) was the main product. Further, silver nanoparticles supported on hydrotalcite (AgNP@HT) converted cumene to cumene hydroperoxide at 80 °C with 80% selectivity. Both benchtop and oxygen-uptake experiments were used to probe the reaction mechanism and…
PCR testing for Treponema pallidum in paraffin-embedded skin biopsy specimens: test design and impact on the diagnosis of syphilis
2007
Background: Syphilis, a chronic infection caused by Treponema pallidum (T. pallidum), is a disease which is increasing in incidence, and thus more and more becoming a differential diagnosis in routine pathology. Aim: Since histological changes are not specific, we sought to develop a polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based molecular assay for the detection of T. pallidum in formalin-fixed, paraffin-embedded tissues, and evaluate its diagnostic power, especially in comparison with other ancillary methods, i.e. immunohistochemistry and Dieterle staining. Methods: 36 skin biopsies with the clinical and /or serological diagnosis of syphilis were evaluated by morphology, immunohistochemistry and s…
