A rare polymeric azido-bridged copper(II) chain with a pentameric repeating unit: Synthesis, structure and magnetic properties

2013

International audience; The novel polymeric chain copper(II) complex [Cu4(μ-Mesalpn)2(μ1,1,1-N3)2(μ1,1-N3)2Cu]n (1) was prepared by the reaction of Cu(NO3)2·3H2O with Mesalpn in the presence of an excess of NaN3. A single-crystal X-ray diffraction study showed an unusual 1D polymeric chain based on pentanuclear Cu5 units with both μ1,1,1-N3 and μ1,1-N3 bridges, and with three independent Cu(II) ions presenting three different coordination numbers (4, 5 and 6). The magnetic susceptibility data show the presence of dominant anti-ferromagnetic interactions.

Base-Controlled Regiospecific Mono-Benzylation/Allylation and Diallylation of 4-Aryl-5-indolyl-1,2,4-triazole-3-thione : Thio-Aza Allyl Rearrangement

2023

The regiospecific S-benzylation/allylation of two 4-aryl-5-indolyl-1,2,4-triazole-3-thione precursors was carried out using Et3N as a base. Allyl group migration from exocyclic sulfur to the triazole nitrogen (N3) was successfully achieved in a short time via thermal fusion without the need for any catalyst. The allylation of indole nitrogen, along with exocyclic sulfur or triazole nitrogen (N3), was carried out using K2CO3 as stronger base. S,N-Diallylated products were converted to N,N-diallylated analogues using a simple fusion approach. Structural analyses of the two newly synthesized hybrids 2b and 5b investigated via the X-ray diffraction of a single crystal combined with Hirshfeld ca…

Crystal structure of sinhalite MgAlBO4 under high pressure

2015

We report on high-pressure angle-dispersive X-ray diffraction data up to 27 GPa for natural MgAlBO4 sinhalite mineral and ab initio total energy calculations. The experimental bulk modulus of sinhalite is B-0 = 171(3) GPa with a first-pressure derivative of B-0' = 4.2(3). A comparison with other olivine-type compounds shows that the value for B0 is 27% larger than that of Mg2SiO4 forsterite and 29% smaller than that of Al2BeO4 chrysoberyl. These differences are interpreted, on the basis of our ab initio calculations, in terms of the relative incompressibility of Al-O bonds in AlO6 octahedra (with a calculated bulk modulus of 250(1) GPa) as compared to Mg-O bonds in MgO6 octahedra (with a ca…

4,4-Di-fluoro-2,3;5,6-bis-(tetra-methylene)-4-bora-3a,4a-di-aza-s-indacene (LD540).

2014

The title compound, C18H21BF2N2, is a lipophilic dye based on a BODIPY fluorophore backbone, which was developed for microscopic imaging of lipid droplets; the molecule has a planar BODIPY core [dihedral angle between the pyrrole rings = 2.3 (3)°] and two tetramethylene substituents at the 2,3- and 5,6-positions in a half-chair conformation. One of the tetramethylene substituents is disordered over two two sets of sites with site occupancies of 0.5. In the crystal, pairs of C—H...F interactions link the molecules into inversion dimers. Neighbouring dimers are linked by further C—H...F interactions, forming an infinite array. C—H...π and π–π [centroid–centroid distance = 4.360 (3) Å] interac…

N-[2-(2,2-Dimethylpropanamido)pyrimidin-4-yl]-2,2-dimethylpropanamide n-hexane 0.25-solvate hemihydrate

2013

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C14H22N4O2·0.25C6H14·0.5H2O, contains two independent molecules of 2,4-bis(pivaloylamino)pyrimidine (M) with similar conformations, one water molecule and one-halfn-hexane solvent molecule situated on an inversion center. In one independentMmolecule, one of the twotert-butyl groups is rotationally disordered between two orientations in a 3:2 ratio. Then-hexane solvent molecule is disordered between two conformations in the same ratio. The water molecule bridges two independentMmoleculesviaO—H...O, N—H...O and O—H...N hydrogen bonds into a 2M·H2O unit, and these units are further linked by N—H...N hydrogen bonds into chains running in the [010] dire…

EPR on Radiation-Induced Defects in SiO2

2014

Continuous-wave electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) spectroscopy has been the technique of choice for the studies of radiation-induced defects in silica (SiO2) for 60 years, and has recently been expanded to include more sophisticated techniques such as high-frequency EPR, pulse electron nuclear double resonance (ENDOR), and pulse electron spin echo envelope modulation (ESEEM) spectroscopy. Structural models of radiation-induced defects obtained from single-crystal EPR analyses of crystalline SiO2 (alfa-quartz) are often applicable to their respective analogues in amorphous silica (a-SiO2), although significant differences are common.

Microwave harmonic emission in MgB2 superconductor: Comparison with YBA2CU3O7

2006

We report results of microwave second-harmonic generation in ceramic samples of MgB2, prepared by different methods. The SH signal has been investigated as a function of the temperature and the static magnetic field. The results are discussed in the framework of models reported in the literature. We show that the peculiarities of the SH signal are related to the specific properties of the sample. A comparison with the results obtained in ceramic and crystalline YBa2Cu3O7 shows that the second-harmonic emission in MgB2 is weaker than that observed in ceramic YBa2CuO7. Crystal structure of the tetraaquabis(thiocyanato-kappa N)cobalt(II)-caffeine-water (1/2/4) co-crystal

2017

In the structure of the title compound, [Co(NCS)2(H2O)4]·2C8H10N4O2·4H2O, the cobalt metal lies on an inversion centre and is coordinated in a slightly distorted octahedral geometry. In the crystal, the complex molecules interact with the caffeine molecules through O—H⋯N, O—H⋯O, C–H⋯S hydrogen bonds and π–π interactions.

Polymer/metal hybrid multilayers modified Schottky devices

2013

Insulating, polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA), and semiconducting, poly(3-hexylthiophene) (P3HT), nanometer thick polymers/Au nanoparticles based hybrid multilayers (HyMLs) were fabricated on p-Si single-crystal substrate. An iterative method, which involves, respectively, spin-coating (PMMA and P3HT deposition) and sputtering (Au nanoparticles deposition) techniques to prepare Au/HyMLs/p-Si Schottky device, was used. The barrier height and the ideality factor of the Au/HyMLs/p-Si Schottky devices were investigated by current-voltage measurements in the thickness range of 1-5 bilayers. It was observed that the barrier height of such hybrid layered systems can be tuned as a function of bilayers …

Refractory metal reactivity towards oxide surface : W/TiO2(1 1 0) case.

2006

International audience; Reactivity of deposited tungsten towards TiO2(1 1 0) surface was studied using synchrotron radiation photoemission spectroscopy (both core levels, valence band and resonant photoemission) on Materials Science Beamline at ELETTRA. W depositions carried out at room temperature on TiO2(1 1 0) surface give rise to an interfacial reaction which leads to a metastable situation due to kinetic limitations. Annealing induces chemical changes which are function of the initial coverage; for fractional coverage, annealing induces completion of oxidation of deposit whereas reduction to metallic tungsten occurs for highest coverage. These results demonstrate that interaction of W …
