Comparison of microextraction procedures to determine pesticides in oranges by liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry.

A liquid chromatographic-mass spectrometric method has been developed for the determination of bitertanol, carbendazim, fenthion, flusilazole, hexythiazox, imidacloprid, methidathion, methiocarb, pyriproxyfen and trichlorfon. Two procedures, based on stir bar sorptive extraction (SBSE) and matrix solid-phase dispersion (MSPD), have been evaluated for the extraction of these compounds in oranges. Their respective advantages and disadvantages are also discussed. The recoveries obtained by MSPD ranged from 47 to 96% and the relative standard deviations (RSDs) ranged from 1 to 15%, whereas with the SBSE method the recoveries were between 8 and 84% and the RSDs between 4 and 16%. Two procedures based on solid-phase extraction (SPE) and stir-bar sorptive extraction (SBSE) in combination with micellar electrokinetic chromatography (MEKC)--diode array detection (DAD) were compared for the simultaneous extraction of acrinathrin, bitertanol, cyproconazole, fludioxonil, flutriafol, myclobutanil, pyriproxyfen, and tebuconazole in lettuce, tomato, grape, and strawberry. Improving the solid-phase extraction of “quat” pesticides from water samples

A novel strategy, based on the addition of a cationic surfactant, for preventing the interferences associated with a diminution in the efficacy of solid-phase extraction (SPE) with silica cartridges of diquat, paraquat and difenzoquat in water is developed. Conditions for extraction are optimised with respect to pH, cationic surfactant and its concentration. Humic acids, anionic surfactants, inorganic salts and other organic contaminants like pesticides, phenols, polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and polychlorinated biphenyls produce the studied interferences. Critical study of and improvements in chromatographic methods for the analysis of type B trichothecenes

Various analytical methods used in the analysis of type B trichothecenes (deoxynivalenol, nivalenol, 3- and 15-acetyldeoxynivalenol) in cereals were compared and optimised in this work. These methods use either GC-electron-capture detection (ECD) of trimethylsilyl, trifluoroacetyl and heptafluorobutyryl derivatives or HPLC with UV or photodiode array detection of analytes. Solid-Phase Extraction of Organochlorine Pesticides from Water Samples

Abstract A procedure for the accumulation of organochiorine pesticides by reversed-phase adsorption on octadecylsilica glass microcolumns was used for the isolation and concentration from spiked distilled and natural waters. The pesticides were eluted from the octadecylsilica with light petroleum, and analyzed by gas chromatography using an electron capture detector. The average recovery was over 90% in spiked water samples at 0.1 ng/ml. The performance of the octadecylsilica when applied to the analysis of water samples were compared with the Rodier and the APHA solvent extraction methods.

Effect of solvents on the selectivity of terbutylazine imprinted polymer sorbents used in solid-phase extraction

A solid-phase extraction sample preparation method using a molecularly imprinted polymer (MIP) selective for the triazine type pesticide terbutylazine has been developed. The method involves preconcentration from large volumes of water samples on a C18 disk coupled to selective clean-up on the MIP. The method has been optimised by studying the recovery and retention of terbutylazine and some other structurally related triazine derivates as a function of the selective washing solvent used. Extraction of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons from cookies: a comparative study of ultrasound and microwave-assisted procedures.

The chromatographic determination of 15 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) in cookies has been improved in order to obtain a fast method with a low limit of detection through the combination of microwave-assisted extraction (MAE), oil saponification and solid-phase extraction clean-up before the injection of purified extracts in a C18 201TP52 (5 microm, 250 x 2.1 mm) column. Abstract The presence of (±)α-pinene, (+)β-pinene, (+)3-carene, and R-(+)limonene terpenes in wastewater of a citrus transformation factory was detected and analyzed, in a previous study, by using Solid Phase Micro-extraction (SPME) followed by GC analyses. Purpose of that research was to compare the genotoxic responses of mixtures of terpenes with the genotoxicity of the individual compounds, and the biological effects of actual wastewater.
