Electric and dielectric properties of nanostructured stoichiometric and excess-iron Ni–Zn ferrites

In this paper, we report a study of the effect of excess iron on structural, microstructural, electric and dielectric properties of the nanostructured Ni–Zn ferrites Ni1−xZnxFe2+zO4−δ of different compositions with x = 0, 0.3, 0.5, 0.7, 1 and z = 0, 0.1. The structural and microstructural properties are estimated from x-ray diffraction and atomic force microscopy (AFM) data. The average grain size, evaluated from AFM topographical analysis, is found to be below 70 nm. The samples exhibit low values of dielectric constant and dielectric loss and a high resistivity. Controlling the Formation of Sodium/Black Phosphorus IntercalationCompounds Towards High Sodium Content

The solid-state synthesis of pure sodium-black phosphorus intercalation compounds (Na-BPICs) has been optimized in bulk for two stoichiometric ratios. Specifically, in-situ X-Ray diffraction (XRD) allowed the precise identification of the optimal temperature range for the formation of Na-BPICs: 94°C–96°C. Moreover, as the undesired formation of Na3P takes place at this very same range, we succeeded in introducing a new synthetic route based on a fast-thermal ball milling implementation that results in the bulk production of BPIC without Na3P in 9 out of 10 cases. Abstract A ‘green’ ARGET-ATRC, for the CuCl[PMDETA] catalysed cyclo -isomerization of N -allyl-α-polychloroamides to γ-lactams is described. The process works efficiently (yields 78–96%), uses a bio-solvent, as ethanol, and exploits the reducing feature of ascorbic acid to limit, at a low level (2–4%), the amount of catalyst. To preserve the efficacy of the catalytic cycle, addition of Na 2 CO 3 is essential, which quenches the HCl released during the CuCl[PMDETA] regeneration step. Synthesis of nicotinamide and fumaric acid supramolecular cocrystals with 1 : 1 and 2 : 1 amide to acid stoichiometries results in the formation of an amide–acid heterosynthon (1 : 1 stoichiometry) and an amide–amide homosynthon (2 : 1 stoichiometry) and different conformations of the fumaric acid moieties.

AbstractThree isoforms of the major light-harvesting chlorophyll (Chl) a/b complexs of photosystem II (LHCIIb) in the pea, namely, Lhcb1, Lhcb2, and Lhcb3, were obtained by overexpression of apoprotein in Escherichia coli and by successfully refolding these isoforms with thylakoid pigments in vitro. The sequences of the protein, pigment stoichiometries, spectroscopic characteristics, thermo- and photostabilities of different isoforms were analysed. Comparison of their spectroscopic properties and structural stabilities revealed that Lhcb3 differed strongly from Lhcb1 and Lhcb2 in both respects. C2-2-methylresorcinarene forms host–guest complexes with pyridine N-oxide and quinoline N-oxide. In solution the NMR studies support the 1 : 1 host–guest complexes while in the solid state, the single crystal X-ray diffraction studies reveal dimeric capsule-like assemblies with 2 : 3 and 2 : 2 host–guest stoichiometry.

Abstract The interdependence of the titanium oxide amount and the anisotropic growth of mullites prepared from single-phase gels were investigated. Gels with stoichiometries 3(Al2−xTixO3)·2(SiO2) and 2(Al2−xTixO3)·(SiO2), with 0 ≤ x ≤ 0.15 were prepared by the semialkoxide method. Gels and specimens heated at temperatures between 1200 and 1600 °C were characterized by using infrared spectroscopy (IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission and field emission scanning electron microscopies (TEM and FESEM). The configuration of the bonding environment of tin in the complexes [R2Sn(SCH2CH2SO3)2]2− (R = Me, Ph) and [Me3Sn(SCH2CH2SO3)]− has been determined to be tetrahedral both in the solid state and in aqueous solution (for the methyl derivatives). The coordination number of tin increases to five in aqueous solutions for the Me2Sn(IV) complexes in Hepes buffer (N-2-hydroxyethylpiperazine-N′-2-ethanesulfonic acid; at least in fivefold excess, at pH 7.4) due to coordination by the tertiary amino nitrogen atom.
