Entanglement entropy in a periodically driven quantum Ising chain
2016
We numerically study the dynamics of entanglement entropy, induced by an oscillating time periodic driving of the transverse field, h(t), of a one-dimensional quantum Ising chain. We consider several realizations of h(t), and we find a number of results in analogy with entanglement entropy dynamics induced by a sudden quantum quench. After short-time relaxation, the dynamics of entanglement entropy synchronises with h(t), displaying an oscillatory behaviour at the frequency of the driving. Synchronisation in the dynamics of entanglement entropy, is spoiled by the appearance of quasi-revivals which fade out in the thermodynamic limit, and which we interpret using a quasi-particle picture ada…
Energy transfer in LH2 of Rhodospirillum Molischianum, studied by subpicosecond spectroscopy and configuration interaction exciton calculations.
2001
Two color transient absorption measurements were performed on a LH2 complex from Rhodospirillum molischianum by using several excitation wavelengths (790, 800, 810, and 830 nm) and probing in the spectral region from 790 to 870 nm at room temperature. The observed energy transfer time of ∼1.0 ps from B800 to B850 at room temperature is longer than the corresponding rates in Rhodopseudomonas acidophila and Rhodobacter sphaeroides. We observed variations (0.9-1.2 ps) of B800-850 energy transfer times at different B800 excitation wavelengths, the fastest time (0.9 ps) was obtained with 800 nm excitation. At 830 nm excitation the energy transfer to the B850 ring takes place within 0.5 ps. The m…
Removing the saturation assumption in Bank-Weiser error estimator analysis in dimension three
2020
International audience; We provide a new argument proving the reliability of the Bank-Weiser estimator for Lagrange piecewise linear finite elements in both dimension two and three. The extension to dimension three constitutes the main novelty of our study. In addition, we present a numerical comparison of the Bank-Weiser and residual estimators for a three-dimensional test case.
Effective strain manipulation of the antiferromagnetic state of polycrystalline NiO
2021
As a candidate material for applications such as magnetic memory, polycrystalline antiferromagnets offer the same robustness to external magnetic fields, THz spin dynamics, and lack of stray field as their single crystalline counterparts, but without the limitation of epitaxial growth and lattice matched substrates. Here, we first report the detection of the average Neel vector orientiation in polycrystalline NiO via spin Hall magnetoresistance (SMR). Secondly, by applying strain through a piezo-electric substrate, we reduce the critical magnetic field required to reach a saturation of the SMR signal, indicating a change of the anisotropy. Our results are consistent with polycrystalline NiO…
Multi-application Based Fault-Tolerant Network-on-Chip Design for Mesh Topology Using Reconfigurable Architecture
2019
In this paper, we propose a two-step fault-tolerant approach to address the faults occurred in cores. In the first stage, a Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) based approach has been proposed for the fault-tolerant mapping of multiple applications on to the mesh based reconfigurable architecture by introducing spare cores and a heuristic has been proposed for the reconfiguration in the second stage. The proposed approach has been experimented by taking several benchmark applications into consideration. Communication cost comparisons have been carried out by taking the failed cores as user input and the experimental results show that our approach could get improvements in terms of communicati…
Operating a cesium sputter source in a pulsed mode
2020
A scheme is presented for pulsing of a cesium sputter negative ion source by periodically switching on and off the high voltage driving the sputtering process. We demonstrate how the pulsed ion beam can be used in combination with a pulsed laser (6 ns pulse length) that has a 10 Hz repetition rate to study the photodetachment process, where a negative ion is neutralized due to the absorption of a photon. In such experiments, where the ion beam is used only for a small fraction of the time, we show that the pulsed mode operation can increase the lifetime of a cathode by two orders of magnitude as compared with DC operation. We also investigate how the peak ion current compares with the ion c…
Multi-pulse characterization of trapping/detrapping mechanisms in AlGaN/GaN high electromobility transistors
2019
GaN high-electro mobility transistors (HEMTs) are among the most promising candidates for use in high-power, high-frequency, and high-temperature electronics owing to their high electrical breakdown threshold and their high saturation electron velocity. The applications of these AlGaN/GaN HEMTs in power converters are limited by the surface trapping effects of drain-current collapse. Charge-trapping mechanisms affect the dynamic performance of all GaN HEMTs used in power switching applications. This study analyzes the dynamic resistance of GaN HEMTs and finds that the effects of dynamic resistance can be suppressed by controlling switching conditions and on-off cycles.

Run-time scalable NoC for FPGA based virtualized IPs
2017
The integration of virtualized FPGA-based hardware accelerators in a cloud computing is progressing from time to time. As the FPGA has limited resources, the dynamic partial reconfiguration capability of the FPGA is considered to share resources among different virtualized IPs during runtime. On the other hand, the NoC is a promising solution for communication among virtualized FPGA-based IPs. However, not all the virtualized regions of the FPGA will be active all the time. When there is no demand for virtualized IPs, the virtualized regions are loaded with blank bitstreams to save power. However, keeping active the idle components of the NoC connecting with the idle virtualized regions is …
The ensemble switch method and related approaches to obtain interfacial free energies between coexisting phases from simulations: a brief review
2015
The accurate estimation of the excess free energy due to an interface between coexisting phases of a model system by computer simulation often is a challenging task. We review here two methods, whi...
