Abstract In this paper the buckling and post-buckling behaviour of unidirectional and cross-ply composite laminated plates with multiple delaminations has been studied. Finite elements analyses have been performed, using a linear buckling model, based on the solution of the eigenvalues problem, and a non-linear one, based on an incremental-iterative method. With non-linear method large displacements have been taken into account and also contact constraints between sublaminates have been added to avoid their interpenetration. Chinese hamster V79-derived cell lines, stably expressing cytochromes P4501A1, 1A2, and 2B1 activities, were constructed by genetic engineering in continuation of our work to establish a battery of V79 derived cell lines designed to study the metabolism of xenobiotics. 2. Cell lines XEM1 and XEM2, expressing cytochrome P4501A1, were capable of the O-dealkylation of 7-ethoxycoumarin and the hydroxylation of benzo[a]pyrene. 3. Molecular basis of the functional distinction between Cln1 and Cln2 cyclins

Cln1 and Cln2 are very similar but not identical cyclins. In this work, we tried to describe the molecular basis of the functional distinction between Cln1 and Cln2. We constructed chimeric cyclins containing different fragments of Cln1 and Cln2 and performed several functional analysis that make it possible to distinguish between Cln1 or Cln2. We identified that region between amino acids 225 and 299 of Cln2 is not only necessary but also sufficient to confer Cln2 specific functionality compared with Cln1. Ectodomain shedding of the amyloid precursor protein (APP) is a key regulatory step in the generation of the Alzheimer disease amyloid beta peptide (Abeta). The molecular mechanisms underlying the control of APP shedding remain little understood but are in part dependent on the low density lipoprotein receptor-related protein (LRP), which is involved in APP endocytosis. Here, we show that the APP homolog APLP1 (amyloid precursor-like protein 1) influences APP shedding. Baculoviruses are enveloped insect viruses that can carry large quantities of foreign DNA in their genome. Baculoviruses have proved to be very promising gene therapy vectors but little is known about their transduction mechanisms in mammalian cells. We show in this study that Autographa californica multiple nuclear polyhedrosis virus capsid is compatible with the incorporation of desired proteins in large quantities. The human T-cell leukemia virus type I is associated with adult T-cell leukemia-lymphoma in humans, a disease which is induced by a malignant transformation of T lymphocytes. Retrovirus vectors carrying human T-cell leukemia virus type I-derived sequences in reversed transcriptional orientation were used to express antisense RNA transcripts in primary human leukocytes. Human T-cell leukemia virus type I replication and virus-mediated immortalization were inhibited in cells harboring antisense constructs. This study suggests that retrovirus-mediated antisense RNA inhibition can be used to protect primary human T-lymphocytes from human T-cell leukemia virus type I-mediated cell transformation.

Tumor necrosis factor-alpha converting enzyme (TACE or ADAM17) is a member of the ADAM (a disintegrin and metalloproteinase) family of type I membrane proteins and mediates the ectodomain shedding of various membrane-anchored signaling and adhesion proteins. TACE is synthesized as an inactive zymogen, which is subsequently proteolytically processed to the catalytically active form. We have identified the proprotein-convertases PC7 and furin to be involved in maturation of TACE.
