Casi di corruzione nei Rerum Gestarum libri di Ammiano Marcellino

The paper provides food for thought on the issue of corruption in Ammianus Marcellinus’ History pointing out the need for revising the criteria of valuation of this phenomenology in order to assess it in modern conceptual terms. As a consequence Ammianus’ Res Gestae have to be analysed moving from the political, economic and social contexts as they stem not only from historiographical sources, but also from the Codes, enabling scholars to test the level of bias of the historian who was stubbornly anchored to the values of tradition that, in his opinion, coincided with the ordo’s privileges.
‘Philonikia’ e ‘timoria’ nel ‘logos’ di Ermocrate a Gela e nell’‘Olimpico’ di Lisia

The aim of the paper is to underline that some themes are both in the logos of Hermocrates of Syracuse in Gela and in the Olimpic Oration of Lysias. Purposely, two of these are the theme of philonikia , which Thucydides defined «insane», and the theme of timoria , when the revenge is legitimate and advantageous at same time. The use of such slogans by the Attic orator (even if his father was from Syracuse), testifies the desire to evoke the feeling pansikeliote awaked during the Peace of Gela, in order to spread these themes and values in Mainland Greece too.

Zusammenfassung Vinicius de Moraes’ Musiktheaterstück Orfeu da Conceição. Tragédia carioca em três atos (1954) kann sowohl als Klassiker brasilianischer Literatur als auch als Weltliteratur betrachtet werden. Vinicius verknüpft den griechischen Stoff mit afrobrasilianischer Kultur, Musikstücken, die später zu Bossa Nova-Klassiker wurden und inszeniert einen schwarzen Orpheus auf einem Favelahügel in Rio de Janeiro. What Creates Interactivity in Online News Discussions? An Exploratory Analysis of Discussion Factors in User Comments on News Items

While the social, political, and journalistic relevance of user comments on online news items has been discussed intensively, no study has tried to examine why some online news discussions are more interactive than others. Based on the rationale of news value theory, this study argues that so-called discussion factors in user comments indicate general relevance to later users to respond to them. Qualitative interviews with users who comment on news stories online and a quantitative content analysis of 1,580 user comments showed that the discussion factors uncertainty, controversy, comprehensibility, negativity, and personalization can explain interactivity in news discussions. Accordingly, a human being also lives and exists poetically in this common world. This being so, the primacy of the mother tongue refers to the lived language, which mediates the possibility for us of carving out our own unique imprint on existence. Similarly, the native land signifies a milieu where a human being takes on a reality amidst other objects, surrounded by them and as one of them.
