Study ofJ/ψ→pp¯andJ/ψ→nn¯

The decays J/psi -> p (p) over bar and J/psi -> n (n) over bar have been investigated with a sample of 225.2 x 10(6) J/psi events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII e(+)e(-) collider. The branching fractions are determined to be B(J/psi -> p (p) over bar) = (2.112 +/- 0.004 +/- 0.031 x 10(-3) and B(J/psi -> n (n) over bar) =(2.07 +/- 0.01 +/- 0.17) x 10(-3). Distributions of the angle theta between the proton or antineutron and the beam direction are well described by the form 1 + alpha cos(2)theta, and we find alpha = 0.595 +/- 0.012 +/- 0.015 for J/psi -> p (p) over bar and alpha = 0.50 +/- 0.04 +/- 0.21 for J/psi -> n (n) over bar. Probing the Quantum Interference between Singly and Doubly Resonant Top-Quark Production in pp Collisions at s=13  TeV with the ATLAS Detector

This Letter presents a normalized differential cross-section measurement in a fiducial phase-space region where interference effects between top-quark pair production and associated production of a single top quark with a W boson and a b-quark are significant. Events with exactly two leptons (ee, μμ, or eμ) and two b-tagged jets that satisfy a multiparticle invariant mass requirement are selected from 36.1  fb^{-1} of proton-proton collision data taken at sqrt[s]=13  TeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC in 2015 and 2016. Observation of electroweak W±Z boson pair production in association with two jets in pp collisions at s=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

An observation of electroweak W±Z production in association with two jets in proton–proton collisions is presented. The data collected by the ATLAS detector at the Large Hadron Collider in 2015 and 2016 at a centre-of-mass energy of s=13 TeV are used, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.1fb−1 . Events containing three identified leptons, either electrons or muons, and two jets are selected. Search for high-mass dilepton resonances using 139 fb−1 of pp collision data collected at s=13 TeV with the ATLAS detector

A search for high-mass dielectron and dimuon resonances in the mass range of 250 GeV to 6 TeV is presented. The data were recorded by the ATLAS experiment in proton–proton collisions at a centre-of-mass energy of s=13 TeV during Run 2 of the Large Hadron Collider and correspond to an integrated luminosity of 139 fb −1 . A functional form is fitted to the dilepton invariant-mass distribution to model the contribution from background processes, and a generic signal shape is used to determine the significance of observed deviations from this background estimate. Tests of General Relativity with GW170817

The recent discovery by Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo of a gravitational wave signal from a binary neutron star inspiral has enabled tests of general relativity (GR) with this new type of source. This source, for the first time, permits tests of strong-field dynamics of compact binaries in presence of matter. In this paper, we place constraints on the dipole radiation and possible deviations from GR in the post-Newtonian coefficients that govern the inspiral regime. Erratum: “Searches for Gravitational Waves from Known Pulsars at Two Harmonics in 2015–2017 LIGO Data” (2019, ApJ, 879, 10)

Two analysis errors have been identified that affect the results for a handful of the high-value pulsars given in Table 1 of Abbott et al. (2019). One affects the Bayesian analysis for the five pulsars that glitched during the analysis period, and the other affects the 5n-vector analysis for J0711-6830. Updated results after correcting the errors are shown in Table 1, which now supersedes the results given for those pulsars in Table 1 of Abbott et al. (2019). Search for Coherent Elastic Scattering of Solar B8 Neutrinos in the XENON1T Dark Matter Experiment

We report on a search for nuclear recoil signals from solar $^8$B neutrinos elastically scattering off xenon nuclei in XENON1T data, lowering the energy threshold from 2.6 keV to 1.6 keV. We develop a variety of novel techniques to limit the resulting increase in backgrounds near the threshold. No significant $^8$B neutrino-like excess is found in an exposure of 0.6 t $\times$ y. For the first time, we use the non-detection of solar neutrinos to constrain the light yield from 1-2 keV nuclear recoils in liquid xenon, as well as non-standard neutrino-quark interactions. Electron and photon performance measurements with the ATLAS detector using the 2015-2017 LHC proton-proton collision data

This paper describes the reconstruction of electrons and photons with the ATLAS detector, employed for measurements and searches exploiting the complete LHC Run 2 dataset. An improved energy clustering algorithm is introduced, and its implications for the measurement and identification of prompt electrons and photons are discussed in detail. Corrections and calibrations that affect performance, including energy calibration, identification and isolation efficiencies, and the measurement of the charge of reconstructed electron candidates are determined using up to 81 fb−1 of proton-proton collision data collected at √s=13 TeV between 2015 and 2017.

Search for inelastic scattering of WIMP dark matter in XENON1T

We report the results of a search for the inelastic scattering of weakly interacting massive particles (WIMPs) in the XENON1T dark matter experiment. Scattering off $^{129}$Xe is the most sensitive probe of inelastic WIMP interactions, with a signature of a 39.6 keV de-excitation photon detected simultaneously with the nuclear recoil. Using an exposure of 0.89 tonne-years, we find no evidence of inelastic WIMP scattering with a significance of more than 2$\sigma$. A profile-likelihood ratio analysis is used to set upper limits on the cross-section of WIMP-nucleus interactions. Observation of Two NewN*Resonances in the Decayψ(3686)→pp¯π0

2013

Based on 106 x 10(6)psi(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII facility, a partial wave analysis of psi(3686) -> p (p) over bar pi(0) is performed. The branching fraction of this channel has been determined to be B psi(3686) -> p (p) over bar pi(0) = (1.65 +/- 0.03 +/- 0.15) x 10(-4). In this decay, 7 N* intermediate resonances are observed. Among these, two new resonances, N(2300) and N(2570) are significant, one 1/2(+) resonance with a mass of 2300(-30-0)(+40+109) MeV/c(2) and width of 340(-30-58)(+30+110) MeV/c(2), and one 5/2(-) resonance with a mass of 2570(-10-10)(+19+34) MeV/c(2) and width of 250(-24-21)(+14+69) MeV/c(.)(2) For the remaining 5 N* intermediate r…

First narrow-band search for continuous gravitational waves from known pulsars in advanced detector data

Spinning neutron stars asymmetric with respect to their rotation axis are potential sources of continuous gravitational waves for ground-based interferometric detectors. In the case of known pulsars a fully coherent search, based on matched filtering, which uses the position and rotational parameters obtained from electromagnetic observations, can be carried out. Matched filtering maximizes the signal-to-noise (SNR) ratio, but a large sensitivity loss is expected in case of even a very small mismatch between the assumed and the true signal parameters. Determination of the number of J/psi events with J/psi -> inclusive decays

The number of J/psi events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPC II from June 12 to July 28, 2009 is determined to be (225.3 +/- 2.8) x 10(6) using J/psi -> inclusive events, where the uncertainty is the systematic error and the statistical one is negligible.

Constraining the p -Mode– g -Mode Tidal Instability with GW170817

We analyze the impact of a proposed tidal instability coupling p modes and g modes within neutron stars on GW170817. This nonresonant instability transfers energy from the orbit of the binary to internal modes of the stars, accelerating the gravitational-wave driven inspiral. We model the impact of this instability on the phasing of the gravitational wave signal using three parameters per star: An overall amplitude, a saturation frequency, and a spectral index. Incorporating these additional parameters, we compute the Bayes factor (lnB!pgpg) comparing our p-g model to a standard one. Measurement of thett¯production cross section inpp¯collisions ats=1.96  TeVusing soft electronb-tagging

The authors present a measurement of the t{bar t} production cross section using events with one charged lepton and jets from p{bar p} collisions at a center-of-mass energy of 1.96 TeV. A b-tagging algorithm based on the probability of displaced tracks coming from the event interaction vertex is applied to identify b quarks from top decay. Combination of Searches for Invisible Higgs Boson Decays with the ATLAS Experiment

Dark matter particles, if sufficiently light, may be produced in decays of the Higgs boson. This Letter presents a statistical combination of searches for H → invisible decays where H is produced according to the standard model via vector boson fusion, Z(ℓℓ)H, and W/Z(had)H, all performed with the ATLAS detector using 36.1  fb⁻¹ of pp collisions at a center-of-mass energy of √s = 13  TeV at the LHC. In combination with the results at √s = 7 and 8 TeV, an exclusion limit on the H → invisible branching ratio of 0.26(0.17-0.05+0.07) at 95% confidence level is observed (expected).

Search for resonant WZ production in the fully leptonic final state in proton–proton collisions at s=13TeV with the ATLAS detector

A search for a heavy resonance decaying into WZ in the fully leptonic channel (electrons and muons) is performed. It is based on proton–proton collision data collected by the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider at a centre-of-mass energy of 13 TeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36.1 fb −1 . First Observation of theM1Transitionψ(3686)→γηc(2S)

Using a sample of 106×10(6) ψ(3686) events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring, we have made the first measurement of the M1 transition between the radially excited charmonium S-wave spin-triplet and the radially excited S-wave spin-singlet states: ψ(3686)→γη(c)(2S). Analyses of the processes ψ(3686)→γη(c)(2S) with η(c)(2S)→K(S)(0)K(±)π(∓) and K(+)K(-)π(0) give an η(c)(2S) signal with a statistical significance of greater than 10 standard deviations under a wide range of assumptions about the signal and background properties. Precise Measurement of the e+e−→π+π−J/ψ Cross Section at Center-of-Mass Energies from 3.77 to 4.60 GeV

The cross section for the process e(+)e(-)-> pi(+) pi(-) J/psi is measured precisely at center-of-mass energies from 3.77 to 4.60 GeV using 9 fb(-1) of data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. Two resonant structures are observed in a fit to the cross section. The first resonance has a mass of (222.0 +/- 3.1 +/- 1.4) MeV/ c(2) and a width of (44.1 +/- 4.3 +/- 2.0)MeV, while the second one has a mass of (4320.0 +/- 10.4 +/- 7.0)MeV/c(2) and a width of (101.4(- 19.7)(+25.3) +/- 10.2) MeV, where the first errors are statistical and second ones are systematic. All-sky search for continuous gravitational waves from isolated neutron stars using Advanced LIGO O2 data

We present results of an all-sky search for continuous gravitational waves (CWs), which can be produced by fast-spinning neutron stars with an asymmetry around their rotation axis, using data from the second observing run of the Advanced LIGO detectors. We employ three different semi-coherent methods ($\textit{FrequencyHough}$, $\textit{SkyHough}$, and $\textit{Time-Domain $\mathcal{F}$-statistic}$) to search in a gravitational-wave frequency band from 20 to 1922 Hz and a first frequency derivative from $-1\times10^{-8}$ to $2\times10^{-9}$ Hz/s. Gravitational-wave Constraints on the Equatorial Ellipticity of Millisecond Pulsars

We present a search for continuous gravitational waves from five radio pulsars, comprising three recycled pulsars (PSR J0437-4715, PSR J0711-6830, and PSR J0737-3039A) and two young pulsars: the Crab pulsar (J0534+2200) and the Vela pulsar (J0835-4510). We use data from the third observing run of Advanced LIGO and Virgo combined with data from their first and second observing runs. On the measured lifetime of light hypernuclei 3ΛH and 4ΛH

A statistical combination of the experimental lifetime estimations available in the literatures is performed for 3 Λ H and 4 Λ H, including several recent measurements. The combined average values of the lifetime for 3 Λ H and 4 Λ H are respectively 216−16+19 ps and 192−18+20 ps with a reduced χ2 of 0.89 and 0.48. A new insight into the lifetime estimation of the HypHI Phase 0 experiment by a Bayesian approach is also presented. In this approach, several different prior distributions including the combination of previous lifetime data and a Jeffrey prior are used. A Gravitational-wave Measurement of the Hubble Constant Following the Second Observing Run of Advanced LIGO and Virgo

This paper presents the gravitational-wave measurement of the Hubble constant (H 0) using the detections from the first and second observing runs of the Advanced LIGO and Virgo detector network. The presence of the transient electromagnetic counterpart of the binary neutron star GW170817 led to the first standard-siren measurement of H 0. Here we additionally use binary black hole detections in conjunction with galaxy catalogs and report a joint measurement. Our updated measurement is H 0 = km s-1 Mpc-1 (68.3% of the highest density posterior interval with a flat-in-log prior) which is an improvement by a factor of 1.04 (about 4%) over the GW170817-only value of km s-1 Mpc-1. Search for a light exotic particle inJ/ψradiative decays

Using a data sample containing 1.06x10^8 psi' events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII electron-positron collider, we search for a light exotic particle X in the process psi' -> pi^+ pi^- J/psi, J/psi -> gamma X, X -> mu^+ mu^-. This light particle X could be a Higgs-like boson A^0, a spin-1 U boson, or a pseudoscalar sgoldstino particle. In this analysis, we find no evidence for any mu^+mu^- mass peak between the mass threshold and 3.0 GeV/c^2. We set 90%-confidence-level upper limits on the product-branching fractions for J/psi -> gamma A^0, A^0 -> mu^+ mu^- which range from 4x10^{-7} to 2.1x10^{-5}, depending on the mass of A^0, for M(A^0)<3.0 GeV/c^2. Search for Subsolar-Mass Ultracompact Binaries in Advanced LIGO's First Observing Run

We present the first Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo search for ultracompact binary systems with component masses between 0.2 $M_\odot$ - 1.0 $M_\odot$ using data taken between September 12, 2015 and January 19, 2016. We find no viable gravitational wave candidates. Precise Measurement of the e+e− → π+π−J/ψ Cross Section at Center-of-Mass Energies from 3.77 to 4.60 GeV

The cross section for the process e(+)e(-)-> pi(+) pi(-) J/psi is measured precisely at center-of-mass energies from 3.77 to 4.60 GeV using 9 fb(-1) of data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage ring. Using $15.6$ $\rm fb^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at twenty-four center-of-mass energies from $4.0$ to $4.6$ GeV with the BESIII detector, the helicity amplitudes of the process $e^+e^-\to \pi^{+}\pi^{-}\omega$ are analyzed for the first time. Born cross section measurements of two-body intermediate resonance states with statistical significance greater than 5$\sigma$ are presented, such as $f_{0}(500)$, $f_{0}(980)$, $f_{2}(1270)$, $f_{0}(1370)$, $b_{1}(1235)^{\pm}$, and $\rho(1450)^{\pm}$. Measurement of $\Lambda$ transverse polarization in $e^{+}e^{-}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}= 3.68-3.71$ GeV

With data samples collected with the BESIII detector at seven energy points at $\sqrt{s}= 3.68 - 3.71$ GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 333 pb$^{-1}$, we present a study of the $\Lambda$ transverse polarization in the $e^+e^-\to\Lambda\bar\Lambda$ reaction. The significance of polarization by combining the seven energy points is found to be 2.6$\sigma$ including the systematic uncertainty, which implies a non-zero phase between the transition amplitudes of the $\Lambda\bar\Lambda$ helicity states. We report the updated study of $D_s^+\to \tau^+\nu$ via $\tau^+\to\pi^+\bar{\nu}_\tau$ with a boosted decision trees analysis, with $7.33$ fb$^{-1}$ of $e^{+}e^{-}$ collision data collected by the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between $4.128$ and $4.226$~GeV. The branching fraction of $D_s^+\to \tau^+\nu_\tau$ is determined to be $(5.41\pm0.17_{\rm stat}\pm0.13_{\rm syst})\%$. A search for a massless dark photon $\gamma^{\prime}$ is conducted using 4.5 $\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at center-of-mass energies between 4.600 and 4.699 $\mathrm{GeV}$ with the BESIII detector at BEPCII. No significant signal is observed, and the upper limit on the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(\Lambda^{+}_{c}\to p \gamma^{\prime})$ is determined to be $8.0\times 10^{-5}$ at 90% confidence level.

Measurement of $Λ$ transverse polarization in $e^{+}e^{-}$ collisions at $\sqrt{s}= 3.68-3.71$ GeV

With data samples collected with the BESIII detector at seven energy points at $\sqrt{s}= 3.68 - 3.71$ GeV, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 333 pb$^{-1}$, we present a study of the $Λ$ transverse polarization in the $e^+e^-\toΛ\barΛ$ reaction. The significance of polarization by combining the seven energy points is found to be 2.6$σ$ including the systematic uncertainty, which implies a non-zero phase between the transition amplitudes of the $Λ\barΛ$ helicity states. Improved measurement of the absolute branching fraction of inclusive semileptonic Λc+ decay

Using 4.5 fb−1 of e+e− annihilation data samples collected at center-of-mass energies ranging from 4.600 to 4.698 GeV with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII collider, we measured the absolute branching fraction for the inclusive semileptonic decay Λc+→Xe+νe, where X refers to any possible particle system. The branching fraction of the decay is determined to be B(Λc+→Xe+νe)=(4.06±0.10stat±0.09syst)%. Our result improves the precision of previous measurements of B(Λc+→Xe+νe) by more than threefold. First simultaneous measurement of $\Xi^0$ and $\bar{\Xi}^0$ asymmetry parameters in $\psi(3686)$ decay

The decay of $J/\psi$ to three photons is studied using $\psi(3686)\to\pi^+\pi^-J/\psi$ in a sample of $1.0641\times10^8$ $\psi(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector. Evidence of the direct decay of $\eta_c$ to two photons, $\eta_c\to\gamma\gamma$, is reported, and the product branching fraction is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(J/\psi\to\gamma\eta_c,\eta_c\to \gamma\gamma)=(4.5\pm1.2\pm0.6)\times10^{-6}$, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. The branching fraction for $J/\psi\to3\gamma$ is measured to be $(11.3\pm1.8\pm2.0)\times 10^{-6}$ with improved precision.

Performance of the upgraded PreProcessor of the ATLAS Level-1 Calorimeter Trigger

The PreProcessor of the ATLAS Level-1 Calorimeter Trigger prepares the analogue trigger signals sent from the ATLAS calorimeters by digitising, synchronising, and calibrating them to reconstruct transverse energy deposits, which are then used in further processing to identify event features. During the first long shutdown of the LHC from 2013 to 2014, the central components of the PreProcessor, the Multichip Modules, were replaced by upgraded versions that feature modern ADC and FPGA technology to ensure optimal performance in the high pile-up environment of LHC Run 2. This paper describes the features of the newMultichip Modules along with the improvements to the signal processing achieved.

The cross section of the process $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow����^{0}��^{0}$ is measured at nineteen center-of-mass energies from 2.0 to 3.08 GeV using data collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII storage ring. A resonant structure around 2.20 GeV is observed with significance larger than 5$��$. Using a coherent fit to the cross section line shape, the mass and width are determined to be $M=2223\pm16\pm11~{\rm MeV}/c^2$ and $\varGamma=51\pm29\pm21~{\rm MeV}$, respectively, where the first uncertainties are statistical and the second ones are systematic.

Precision Measurement of the Decay $\Sigma^{+} \rightarrow p\gamma$ in the Process $J/\psi\rightarrow \Sigma^{+}\bar{\Sigma}^{-}$

Using $(10\:087\pm44)\times10^{6}$ $J/\psi$ events collected with the BESIII detector, the radiative hyperon decay $\Sigma\rightarrow p\gamma$ is studied at an electron-positron collider experiment for the first time. The absolute branching fraction is measured to be $\left(0.996 \pm 0.021_{\rm stat.}\pm 0.018_{\rm syst.}\right)\times 10^{-3}$, which is lower than its world average value by $4.2$ standard deviations. Its decay asymmetry parameter is determined to be $-0.652 \pm 0.056_{\rm stat.}\pm 0.020_{\rm syst.}$. The branching fraction and decay asymmetry parameter are the most precise to date, and the accuracies are improved by $78\%$ and $34\%$, respectively.

Using a data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 11.3 $\rm fb^{-1}$ collected at center-of-mass energies from $4.23$ to $4.70$~GeV with the BESIII detector, we observe the process $e^+e^-\toπ^0π^0ψ_2(3823)$ for the first time with a statistical significance of $6.0σ$. The ratio of average cross sections for $e^+e^-\toπ^0π^0ψ_2(3823)$ over $π^+π^-ψ_2(3823)$ is determined to be $\mathcal{R}=\frac{σ[e^+e^-\toπ^0π^0ψ_2(3823)]}{σ[e^+e^-\toπ^+π^-ψ_2(3823)]}=0.57\pm 0.14\pm0.05$, which is consistent with expectations from isospin symmetry. The observation of forward proton scattering in association with lepton pairs (eþe− þ p or μþμ− þ p) produced via photon fusion is presented. The scattered proton is detected by the ATLAS Forward Proton spectrometer, while the leptons are reconstructed by the central ATLAS detector. Study of the $f_{0}(980)$ through the decay $D_{s}^{+} \to \pi^{+} \pi^{-} e^{+} \nu_{e}$

Using $e^+e^-$ collision data corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 7.33 ${\rm fb^{-1}}$ recorded by the BESIII detector at center-of-mass energies between 4.128 and 4.226 ${\rm GeV}$, we present an analysis of the decay $D_{s}^{+} \to f_{0}(980)e^{+}\nu_{e}$ with $f_{0}(980) \to \pi^{+}\pi^{-}$, where the $D_s^+$ is produced via the process $e^+e^- \to D_{s}^{*\pm}D_{s}^{\mp}$. Measurement of the branching fraction of $D_s^+\to \tau^+ \nu_{\tau}$ via $\tau^+ \to \mu^+ \nu_{\mu}\bar{\nu_{\tau}}$

Utilizing $7.33~\mathrm{fb}^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data taken at the center-of-mass energies of 4.128, 4.157, 4.178, 4.189, 4.199, 4.209, 4.219, and 4.226 GeV with the BESIII detector, the branching fraction of the leptonic decay $D_s^+\to\tau^+\nu_\tau$ via $\tau^+\to\mu^+\nu_\mu\bar \nu_\tau$ is measured to be $\mathcal{B}_{D_s^+\to\tau^+\nu_\tau}=(5.34\pm0.16_{\rm stat}\pm0.10_{\rm syst})\%$. Search for $\eta$ and $\eta'$ Invisible Decays in $J/\psi\to\phi\eta$ and $\phi\eta'$

Using a sample of $(225.3\pm 2.8)\times 10^{6}$ $J/\psi$ decays collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, searches for invisible decays of $\eta$ and $\eta^\prime$ in $J/\psi\to\phi\eta$ and $\phi\eta^\prime$ are performed. Decays of $\phi \to K^{+}K^{-}$ are used to tag the $\eta$ and $\eta^\prime$ decays. No signals above background are found for the invisible decays, and upper limits at the 90% confidence level are determined to be $2.58\times10^{-4}$ for the ratio $\frac{\mathcal{B}(\eta\to\rm{invisible})}{\mathcal{B}(\eta\to\gamma\gamma)}$ and $2.39\times10^{-2}$ for $\frac{\mathcal{B}(\eta^\prime\to\rm{invisible})}{\mathcal{B}(\eta^\prime \to\gamma\gamma)}$.

Based on a data sample of 106 M $\psi^{\prime}$ events collected with the BESIII detector, the decays $\psi^{\prime}\ar\gamma\chi_{c0, 2}$,$\chi_{c0, 2}\ar\gamma\gamma$ are studied to determine the two-photon widths of the $\chi_{c0, 2}$ states. Based on electron positron collision data collected with the BESIII detector operating at the BEPCII storage rings, the differential cross sections of inclusive $\pi^0$ and $K^0_S$ production as a function of hadron momentum, normalized by the total cross section of the $e^{+}e^{-} \to$ hadrons process, are measured at six center-of-mass energies from 2.2324 to 3.6710 GeV. Our results with a relative hadron energy coverage from 0.1 to 0.9 significantly deviate from several theoretical calculations based on existing fragmentation functions, especially at lower energies.

Measurement of the $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow\Lambda\bar{\Lambda}$ cross section from threshold to 3.00 GeV using events with initial-state radiation

Using initial-state radiation events from a total integrated luminosity of 11.957 fb$^{-1}$ of $e^+e^-$ collision data collected at center-of-mass energies between 3.773 and 4.258 GeV with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, the cross section for the process $e^{+}e^{-}\rightarrow\Lambda\bar{\Lambda}$ is measured in 16 $\Lambda\bar{\Lambda}$ invariant mass intervals from the production threshold up to 3.00 GeV$/c^{2}$. The results are consistent with previous results from BaBar and BESIII, but with better precision and with narrower $\Lambda\bar{\Lambda}$ invariant mass intervals than BaBar.

Measurement of the branching fraction and decay asymmetry of $Λ\to nγ$

The radiative hyperon decay $Λ\to nγ$ is studied using $(10087\pm44)\times 10^6$ $J/ψ$ events collected with the BESIII detector operating at BEPCII. The absolute branching fraction of the decay $Λ\to nγ$ is determined with a significance of 5.6$σ$ to be $[0.832\pm0.038(\rm stat.)\pm0.054(\rm syst.)]\times10^{-3}$, which lies significantly below the current PDG value. By analyzing the joint angular distribution of the decay products, the first determination of the decay asymmetry $α_γ$ is reported with a value of $-0.16\pm0.10(\rm stat.)\pm0.05(\rm syst.)$.

Search for hyperon $ΔS=ΔQ$ violating decay $Ξ^{0}\toΣ^{-}e^{+}ν_{e}$

Using a data sample of $(1.0087\pm0.0044)\times10^{10}$ $J/ψ$ decay events collected with the BESIII detector at the center-of-mass energy of $\sqrt{s}=3.097$ GeV, we present a search for the hyperon semileptonic decay $Ξ^{0}\toΣ^{-}e^{+}ν_{e}$ which violates the $ΔS=ΔQ$ rule. No significant signal is observed, and the upper limit on the branching fraction $\mathcal{B}(Ξ^{0}\toΣ^{-}e^{+}ν_{e})$ is determined to be $1.6\times10^{-4}$ at the 90% confidence level. This result improves the previous upper limit result by about one order of magnitude.

No significant signals are observed, and the upper limits on the decay branching fractions are set to be $\mathcal{B}(\Lambda_c^+ \to \Lambda \pi^+ \pi^- e^+ \nu_e)<3.9\times10^{-4}$ and $\mathcal{B}(\Lambda_c^+ \to p K_S^0 \pi^- e^+ \nu_e)<3.3\times10^{-4}$ at the 90% confidence level, respectively.

Observation of the decay $\chi_{cJ} \to \Omega^- \bar{\Omega}^+$

Using an $e^+e^-$ collision data sample of $(27.08 \pm 0.14) \times 10^{8}$ $\psi(3686)$ events collected by the BESIII detector, we report the first observation of $\chi_{cJ} \to \Omega^- \bar{\Omega}^+$ ($J=0,\,1,\,2$) decays with significances of $5.6\sigma$, $6.4\sigma$, and $18\sigma$, respectively, where the $\chi_{cJ}$ mesons are produced in the radiative $\psi(3686)$ decays. Search for Gravitational-wave Signals Associated with Gamma-Ray Bursts during the Second Observing Run of Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo

We present the results of targeted searches for gravitational-wave transients associated with gamma-ray bursts during the second observing run of Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo, which took place from 2016 November to 2017 August. We have analyzed 98 gamma-ray bursts using an unmodeled search method that searches for generic transient gravitational waves and 42 with a modeled search method that targets compact-binary mergers as progenitors of short gamma-ray bursts. Both methods clearly detect the previously reported binary merger signal GW170817, with p-values of <9.38 10-6 (modeled) and 3.1 10-4 (unmodeled). We present a search for prompt gamma-ray counterparts to compact binary coalescence gravitational wave (GW) candidates from Advanced LIGO's first observing run (O1). As demonstrated by the multimessenger observations of GW170817/GRB 170817A, electromagnetic and GW observations provide complementary information about the astrophysical source and, in the case of weaker candidates, may strengthen the case for an astrophysical origin. Evidence for the Direct Two-Photon Transition from $\psi(3686)$ to $J/\psi$

The two-photon transition $\psi(3686)\to\gamma\gamma J/\psi$ is studied in a sample of 106 million $\psi(3686)$ decays collected by the BESIII detector. The branching fraction is measured to be $(3.1\pm0.6(\unit{stat})^{+0.8}_{-1.0}(\unit{syst})) \times10^{-4}$ using $J/\psi\to e^+e^-$ and $J/\psi\to\mu^+\mu^-$ decays, and its upper limit is estimated to be $4.5\times10^{-4}$ at the 90% conference level. This work represents the first measurement of a two-photon transition among charmonium states. Precision measurement of the matrix elements for $\eta\to\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0$ and $\eta\to\pi^0\pi^0\pi^0$ decays

A precision measurement of the matrix elements for $\eta\to\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0$ and $\eta\to\pi^0\pi^0\pi^0$ decays is performed using a sample of $(10087\pm44)\times10^6$ $J/\psi$ decays collected with the BESIII detector. The decay $J/\psi \to \gamma \eta$ is used to select clean samples of 631,686 $\eta\to\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0$ decays and 272,322 $\eta\to\pi^0\pi^0\pi^0$ decays. The matrix elements for both channels are in reasonable agreement with previous measurements. The non-zero $gX^2Y$ term for the decay mode $\eta\to\pi^+\pi^-\pi^0$ is confirmed, as reported by the KLOE Collaboration, while the other higher-order terms are found to be insignificant. Search for GW signals associated with GRBs

We present the results of targeted searches for gravitational-wave transients associated with gamma-ray bursts during the second observing run of Advanced LIGO and Advanced Virgo, which took place from 2016 November to 2017 August. We have analyzed 98 gamma-ray bursts using an unmodeled search method that searches for generic transient gravitational waves and 42 with a modeled search method that targets compact-binary mergers as progenitors of short gamma-ray bursts. Both methods clearly detect the previously reported binary merger signal GW170817, with p-values of <9.38x10^-6^ (modeled) and 3.1x10^-4^ (unmodeled).
