Comparative studies on the detection of benzodiazepines in serum by means of immunoassays (FPIA).
Serum was tested for benzodlazeplnes by fluorescence polarlzatlon Immunoassay (FPIA) on Abbott's ADx system uslng the benzodlazeplne serum reagents (Benzo S) and the benzodlazeplne urine reagents (Benzo U) after pretreatment of speclmens by means of acetone preclpltatlon. The followlng sera were included for comparing the two methods: negatlve sera spiked with varlous benzodlazeplnes; 80 sera randomly selected out of a total of 8654 serum specimens from Impalred drlvers; and blood speclmens from Indlvlduals who stated that they had taken benzodlazeplnes. The different benzodlazeplnes were added to serum st concentratlons of 25, 75, and 300 ng/mL. The low-dose benzodlazeplnes flunltrazepam a…
Interdisciplinary experiments with polarized 3He
Abstract Optical pumping of metastable 3 He atoms is a very efficient method to produce large quantities of nuclear spin-polarized 3 He. Recent developments in mechanical compression of the gas, its storage and transport allow for its flexible use in different fields of physics and applied science. Among these are (1) scattering experiments of polarized beams from polarized 3 He-targets, (2) 3 He as neutron spin filter to polarize neutron beams at research reactors, and (3) polarized 3 He gas inhaled into the lungs to perform magnetic resonance imaging. The paper discusses the different topics along with results obtained in a first round of experiments.

Partial wave analysis of $\psi(2S) \to p \bar{p}\eta$
Using a sample of $1.06 \times 10^{8}$ $\psi(2S)$ events collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, the decay $\psi(2S) \to p \bar{p}\eta$ is studied. A partial wave analysis determines that the intermediate state N(1535) with a mass of $1524\pm5^{+10}_{-4}$ MeV/$c^2$ and a width of $130^{+27+57}_{-24-10}$ MeV/$c^2$ is dominant in the decay; the product branching fraction is determined to be $B(\psi(2S) \to N(1535)\bar{p})\times B(N(1535)\to p\eta)+c.c. = (5.2\pm0.3^{+3.2}_{-1.2})\times 10^{-5}$. Furthermore, the branching fraction of $\psi(2S) \to \eta p \bar{p}$ is measured to be $(6.4\pm0.2\pm0.6)\times 10^{-5}$.
Measurement of the integrated luminosities of the data taken by BESIII at √ s = 3.650 and 3.773 GeV
Data sets were collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPC II collider at the center-of-mass energy of root s=3.650 GeV during May 2009 and at root s=3.773 GeV from January 2010 to May 2011. By analyzing the large angle Bhabha scattering events, the integrated luminosities of the two data sets are measured to be (44.49 +/- 0.02 +/- 0.44) pb(-1) and (2916.94 +/- 0.18 +/- 29.17) pb(-1), respectively, where the first error is statistical and the second error is systematic.

First measurement of the polarisation transfer on the proton in the reactions $$H(\vec e,e'\vec p)$$ and $$D(\vec e,e'\vec p)$$
The measurement of the polarisation transfer to the proton in the reactions\(H(\vec e,e'\vec p)\) and\(D(\vec e,e'\vec p)\) performed with longitudinally polarised electrons in quasi-free kinematics is presented. The coincidence measurement was executed atQ2≈8fm−2 using the 855 MeV, c.w. beam of the Mainz Microtron MAMI. The recoil polarisation was determined by means of a carbon analyser. The experiment shows that the binding of the nucleon does not modify the polarisationPx of the recoil proton within an error ofΔPx/Px≈10%. The measured polarisation agrees with recent theoretical predictions. Implications for the measurement of the electric form factor of the neutron using the\(D(\vec e,e…
SARS-CoV-2 vaccination modelling for safe surgery to save lives: data from an international prospective cohort study
Abstract Background Preoperative SARS-CoV-2 vaccination could support safer elective surgery. Vaccine numbers are limited so this study aimed to inform their prioritization by modelling. Methods The primary outcome was the number needed to vaccinate (NNV) to prevent one COVID-19-related death in 1 year. NNVs were based on postoperative SARS-CoV-2 rates and mortality in an international cohort study (surgical patients), and community SARS-CoV-2 incidence and case fatality data (general population). NNV estimates were stratified by age (18–49, 50–69, 70 or more years) and type of surgery. Best- and worst-case scenarios were used to describe uncertainty. Results NNVs were more favourable in su…
Realization of a broad band neutron spin filter with compressed, polarized 3He gas
The strongly spin dependent absorption of neutrons in nuclear spin polarized 3He opens the possibility to polarize beams of thermal and epithermal neutrons. An effective 3He neutron spin filter (NSF) requires high 3He nuclear polarization as well as a filter thickness corresponding to a gas amount of the order of 1 barl. We realized such a filter using direct optical pumping of metastable 3He∗ atoms in a 3He plasma at 1 mbar. Metastable exchange scattering transfers the angular momentum to the whole ensemble of 3He atoms. At present 3 × 1018 3He-atoms/s are polarized up to 64%. Subsequent polarization preserving compression by a two stage compressor system enables to prepare NSF cells of ab…
Evidence for $\eta_{c} \rightarrow \gamma\gamma$ and Measurement of $J/\psi\rightarrow 3\gamma$
The decay of $J/\psi$ to three photons is studied using $\psi(3686)\to\pi^+\pi^-J/\psi$ in a sample of $1.0641\times10^8$ $\psi(3686)$ events collected with the BESIII detector. Evidence of the direct decay of $\eta_c$ to two photons, $\eta_c\to\gamma\gamma$, is reported, and the product branching fraction is determined to be $\mathcal{B}(J/\psi\to\gamma\eta_c,\eta_c\to \gamma\gamma)=(4.5\pm1.2\pm0.6)\times10^{-6}$, where the first error is statistical and the second is systematic. The branching fraction for $J/\psi\to3\gamma$ is measured to be $(11.3\pm1.8\pm2.0)\times 10^{-6}$ with improved precision.
Global burden of 87 risk factors in 204 countries and territories, 1990–2019: a systematic analysis for the Global Burden of Disease Study 2019
Background Rigorous analysis of levels and trends in exposure to leading risk factors and quantification of their effect on human health are important to identify where public health is making progress and in which cases current efforts are inadequate. The Global Burden of Diseases, Injuries, and Risk Factors Study (GBD) 2019 provides a standardised and comprehensive assessment of the magnitude of risk factor exposure, relative risk, and attributable burden of disease. Methods GBD 2019 estimated attributable mortality, years of life lost (YLLs), years of life lived with disability (YLDs), and disability-adjusted life-years (DALYs) for 87 risk factors and combinations of risk factors, at the…
Search for Baryonic Decays of \psi(3770) and \psi(4040)

Search for $\eta$ and $\eta^\prime\to \pi^+ e^- \bar{\nu}_e +c.c.$ decays in $\jpsi \to \phi \eta$ and $\phi \eta^\prime$
Using a sample of 225.3 million $\jpsi$ events collected with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII $e^+e^-$ collider in 2009, searches for the decays of $\eta$ and $\eta^\prime\to\pi^+ e^- \bar{\nu}_e +c.c.$ in $\jpsi \to \phi \eta$ and $\phi\eta^\prime$ are performed. The $\phi$ signals, which are reconstructed in $K^+K^-$ final states, are used to tag $\eta$ and $\eta^\prime$ semileptonic decays. No signals are observed for either $\eta$ or $\eta^\prime$, and upper limits at the 90% confidence level are determined to be $7.3\times 10^{-4}$ and $5.0\times 10^{-4}$ for the ratios $\frac{{\mathcal B}(\eta\to \pi^+ e^- \bar{\nu}_e +c.c.)}{{\mathcal B}(\eta \to \pip\pim\piz)}$ and $\frac{{\mathca…
Measurement of $\eta^\prime\rightarrow \pi^+\pi^- e^+e^-$ and $\eta^\prime\rightarrow \pi^+\pi^-\mu^+\mu^-$
Based on a sample of 225.3 million J/\psi events accumulated with the BESIII detector at the BEPCII, the decays of \eta' to pi+pi-l+l- are studied via J/\psi to \gamma\eta'. A clear \eta' signal is observed in the pi+pi-e+e- mass spectrum, and the branching fraction is measured to be \BR(\eta' to pi+pi-e+e-) = (2.11\pm0.12 (stat.)\pm0.15 (syst.))\times10^{-3}, which is in good agreement with theoretical predictions and the previous measurement, but is determined with much higher precision. No \eta' signal is found in the pi+ pi- mu+ mu- mass spectrum, and the upper limit is determined to be \BR(\eta' to pi+ pi- mu+ mu-)<2.9\times10^{-5} at the 90% confidence level.

Fatal cerebellar haemorrhage due to phenprocoumon poisoning.
A 32-year-old patient died of a cerebellar haemorrhage and the blood coagulation analysis before death suggested defective synthesis of vitamin K-dependent clotting factors due to vitamin K deficiency. The post-mortem toxicological examination of different tissues revealed phenprocoumon poisoning as the cause of death. The differential diagnosis of vitamin K deficiency and the toxicology of hydroxycoumarins are discussed.
Determination of the neutron electric form factor in the D(e,e′n)p reaction and the influence of nuclear binding
The electric form factor of the neutron GE,n has been determined at the Mainz Microtron MAMI at the low momentum transfer Q2= 0.15 (GeV/c)2 in a measurement of the recoil polarisation ratio Px/Pz in the quasifree reaction D(e,e′n)p. At this Q2 the influence of the nuclear binding is strong. A purely kinematical model is used to get some insight into the effect of the initial Fermi momentum distribution of the neutron. The influence of the final state interaction is determined quantitatively by a model of Arenhovel et al.. After the corresponding corrections a value of GE,n(0.15 (GeV/c)2) = 0.0481±0.0065stat±0.0053syst is obtained.
Search for $\eta$ and $\eta'$ Invisible Decays in $J/\psi\to\phi\eta$ and $\phi\eta'$
Using a sample of $(225.3\pm 2.8)\times 10^{6}$ $J/\psi$ decays collected with the BESIII detector at BEPCII, searches for invisible decays of $\eta$ and $\eta^\prime$ in $J/\psi\to\phi\eta$ and $\phi\eta^\prime$ are performed. Decays of $\phi \to K^{+}K^{-}$ are used to tag the $\eta$ and $\eta^\prime$ decays. No signals above background are found for the invisible decays, and upper limits at the 90% confidence level are determined to be $2.58\times10^{-4}$ for the ratio $\frac{\mathcal{B}(\eta\to\rm{invisible})}{\mathcal{B}(\eta\to\gamma\gamma)}$ and $2.39\times10^{-2}$ for $\frac{\mathcal{B}(\eta^\prime\to\rm{invisible})}{\mathcal{B}(\eta^\prime \to\gamma\gamma)}$.
In vitro production of GHB in blood and serum samples under various storage conditions
Abstract The in vitro production of GHB was observed in freshly collected, untreated whole blood samples using glass BD-Vacutainers and polypropylene S-monovettes. GHB concentrations were determined daily over a period of one week and after 3, 6 and 9 weeks again. Furthermore, the GHB concentration in 40 untreated random whole blood samples stored at 4 °C for a longer period of time (10 samples 12 month, 10 samples 24 month and 20 samples 36 month) was also determined. For comparison, the in vitro production of GHB in freshly collected and prepared serum samples was observed. GHB serum concentrations were determined three times over a period of one week and once again after six weeks. Sampl…
The Electric Formfactor of the Neutron Determined by Quasielastic Scattering of Longitudinally Polarized Electrons from 3He and 2D
The recent availability of polarized electron beams at electron accelerator laboratories adds another technique to probing the electromagnetic structure of nuclear matter [1]. The present paper discusses the application of polarized electron scattering to the determination of the electric formfactor of the neutron. Its value at medium energies is only poorly known hitherto. Electron scattering is dominated by interaction with the neutron magnetic moment. Therefore the contribution of the charge distribution to the scattering cross section is scarcely detectable in case of unpolarized collision partners. The elastic scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons from a polarized neutron ta…
Two-photon widths of the $\chi_{c0, 2}$ states and helicity analysis for $\chi_{c2}\ar\gamma\gamma$}
Based on a data sample of 106 M $\psi^{\prime}$ events collected with the BESIII detector, the decays $\psi^{\prime}\ar\gamma\chi_{c0, 2}$,$\chi_{c0, 2}\ar\gamma\gamma$ are studied to determine the two-photon widths of the $\chi_{c0, 2}$ states. The two-photon decay branching fractions are determined to be ${\cal B}(\chi_{c0}\ar\gamma\gamma) = (2.24\pm 0.19\pm 0.12\pm 0.08)\times 10^{-4}$ and ${\cal B}(\chi_{c2}\ar\gamma\gamma) = (3.21\pm 0.18\pm 0.17\pm 0.13)\times 10^{-4}$. From these, the two-photon widths are determined to be $\Gamma_{\gamma \gamma}(\chi_{c0}) = (2.33\pm0.20\pm0.13\pm0.17)$ keV, $\Gamma_{\gamma \gamma}(\chi_{c2}) = (0.63\pm0.04\pm0.04\pm0.04)$ keV, and $\cal R$ $=\Gamma…

Vergleich der lokalen Effektivität und des Metastasierungsverhaltens nach Resektion, Kryotherapie und Lasertherapie an einem colorectalen Tumormodell in der Leber der Ratte
A rat colon cancer cell line (CC531) was implanted into the livers of 85 WAG rats and in animals surviving the implantation the liver tumour was subsequently treated with sham laparotomy (n = 15), resection (n = 20), cryotherapy (n = 19) or laser therapy (n = 20). Local recurrence or persistence of the tumour in animals surviving the procedure was observed in 15 of 15 following sham laparotomy, in 0 of 15 following resection, in 3 of 17 following cryotherapy and in 10 of 14 following laser therapy. However, peritoneal disease and lung metastases were more frequent and extensive following resection as compared to cryotherapy or laser therapy.

First measurement of the electric formfactor of the neutron in the exclusive quasielastic scattering of polarized electrons from polarized 3He
Abstract A first measurement of the asymmetry in quasielastic scattering of longitudinally polarized electrons from a polarized 3 He gas target in coincidence with the knocked out neutron is reported. This measurement was made feasible by the cw beam of the 855 MeV Mainz Microtron MAMI. It allows a determination of the electric formfactor of the neutron G E n independent of binding effects to first order. At Q 2 =0.31 ( GeV /c) 2 two asymmetries A ∥ ( S He ∥ q ) and A ⊥ ( S He ⊥ q ) have been measured giving A ∥ =(−7.40±0.73)% and A ⊥ =(0.89±0.30)% . The ratio A ⊥ / A ∥ is independent of the absolute value of the electron and target polarization and yields G E n =0.035±0.012±0.005.
Ultrastructural alterations and environmental exposure influence the opiate concentrations in hair of drug addicts
Hair samples were taken at autopsy from the head of 1 male and 1 female subject both known as drug abusers. Some of the strands were bleached by in-vitro cosmetic treatment. The bleached hair as well as the original hair samples were partly exposed to water or soil prior to further investigations and drug monitoring. The exposure times were 4 weeks or 6 months for water and 6 months for soil. The hair fibers were examined by transmission electron microscope (TEM) and by scanning electron microscope (SEM) investigations. The electron microscope studies confirmed that all experimental conditions had produced morphological alterations in the hair fibers. After exposure to water or to soil for …
Determination of the neutron electric form factor from the reaction 3 He(e,e'n) at medium momentum transfer
The electric form factor of the neutron GEn has been determined in double polarized exclusive 3He(e,e'n) scattering in quasi–elastic kinematics by measuring asymmetries A⊥, A∥ of the cross section with respect to helicity reversal of the electron, with the nuclear spin being oriented perpendicular to the momentum transfer q in case of A⊥ and parallel in case of A∥. The experiment was performed at the 855 MeV c. w. microtron MAMI at Mainz. The degree of polarization of the electron beam and of the gaseous 3He target were each about 50%. Scattered electrons and neutrons were detected in coincidence by detector arrays covering large solid angles. Quasi–elastic scattering events were reconstruc…
First observation of the isospin violating decay $J/\psi\rightarrow \Lambda\bar{\Sigma}^{0}+c.c.$
Using a sample of $(225.2\pm 2.8)\times 10^6$ $J/\psi$ events collected with the BESIII detector, we present results of a study of $J/\psi\rightarrow \gamma\Lambda\bar{\Lambda}$ and report the first observation of the isospin violating decay $J/\psi\rightarrow\Lambda\bar{\Sigma}^{0}+c.c.$, in which $\bar{\Sigma}^{0}$ decays to $\gamma \bar{\Lambda}$. The measured branching fractions are $\mathcal{B}(J/\psi\rightarrow\bar{\Lambda}\Sigma^{0}$) = $(1.46\pm0.11\pm0.12) \times10^{-5}$ and $\mathcal{B}(J/\psi\rightarrow\Lambda\bar{\Sigma^{0}}$) = $(1.37\pm0.12\pm0.11) \times10^{-5}$. We search for $\Lambda(1520) \rightarrow \gamma \Lambda$ decay, and find no evident signal, and an upper limit for…
Evidence for the Direct Two-Photon Transition from $\psi(3686)$ to $J/\psi$
The two-photon transition $\psi(3686)\to\gamma\gamma J/\psi$ is studied in a sample of 106 million $\psi(3686)$ decays collected by the BESIII detector. The branching fraction is measured to be $(3.1\pm0.6(\unit{stat})^{+0.8}_{-1.0}(\unit{syst})) \times10^{-4}$ using $J/\psi\to e^+e^-$ and $J/\psi\to\mu^+\mu^-$ decays, and its upper limit is estimated to be $4.5\times10^{-4}$ at the 90% conference level. This work represents the first measurement of a two-photon transition among charmonium states. The orientation of the $\psi(3686)$ decay plane and the $J/\psi$ polarization in this decay are also studied. In addition, the product branching fractions of sequential $E1$ transitions $\psi(3686…

Supplementary Material for: Online Self-Help as an Add-On to Inpatient Psychotherapy: Efficacy of a New Blended Treatment Approach
Background: Depression is one of the most frequent and costly mental disorders. While there is increasing evidence for the efficacy of online self-help to improve depression or prevent relapse, there is little evidence in blended care settings, especially combined with inpatient face-to-face psychotherapy. Therefore, we evaluated whether an evidence-based online self-help program improves the efficacy of inpatient psychotherapy. Methods: A total of 229 depressed patients were randomly allocated either to an online self-help program (intervention group [IG]; Deprexis) or an active control group (CG; weekly online information on depression) in addition to inpatient psychodynamic psychotherapy…
