Gas Emissions From the Western Aleutians Volcanic Arc

The Aleutian Arc is remote and highly active volcanically. Its 4,000 km extent from mainland Alaska to Russia’s Kamchatka peninsula hosts over 140 volcanic centers of which about 50 have erupted in historic times. We present data of volcanic gas samples and gas emission measurements obtained during an expedition to the western-most segment of the arc in September 2015 in order to extend the sparse knowledge on volatile emissions from this remote but volcanically active region. Some of the volcanoes investigated here have not been sampled for gases before this writing. c-MYC Triggers Lipid Remodelling During Early Somatic Cell Reprogramming to Pluripotency.

AbstractMetabolic rewiring and mitochondrial dynamics remodelling are hallmarks of cell reprogramming, but the roles of the reprogramming factors in these changes are not fully understood. Here we show that c-MYC induces biosynthesis of fatty acids and increases the rate of pentose phosphate pathway. Time-course profiling of fatty acids and complex lipids during cell reprogramming using lipidomics revealed a profound remodelling of the lipid content, as well as the saturation and length of their acyl chains, in a c-MYC-dependent manner. We examine affordances in a simulation-based collaborative learning environment from the learners’ viewpoint. Our analysis focuses on three types of affordances: technological, organisational and socio-interactional. The findings show how teams of learners employ the different types of affordances in their collaborative tasks. PP2A is inhibited by endogenous inhibitor proteins in several pathological conditions including cancer. A PP2A inhibitor protein, ARPP-19, has recently been connected to several human cancer types. Accordingly, the knowledge about ARPP-19—PP2A inhibition mechanism is crucial for the understanding the disease development and the therapeutic targeting of ARPP-19—PP2A. Darba mērķis : Novērtēt faktorus, kuri ietekmē miopijas progresēšanu. Pētījuma ietvaros tika izveidotas divas aptaujas. Aptaujā iegūtie dati tika apkopoti no 71 respondenta. Lai salīdzinātu un analizētu aptaujā iegūto dalībnieku datus un noskaidrotu, kā miopija progresē, papildus tika izmantots arī miopijas kalkulators. This contribution proposes an integrated approach making use of Fuzzy Cognitive Maps (FCMs) to organise in a flexibleway human knowledge about decision-making (DM) problems of interest in industry. By modelling human reasoning, FCMs allow to represent real phenomena on the basis of spontaneous human brainstorming on relations between pairs of relevant DM elements. An approach for controlled protein immobilization on laser-induced two-photon (2P) oxidation patterned graphene oxide (GO) surfaces is described. Selected proteins, horseradish peroxidase (HRP) and biotinylated bovine serum albumin (b-BSA) were successfully immobilized on oxidized graphene surfaces, via non-covalent interactions, by immersion of graphene-coated microchips in the protein solution.
