Teorijas apskatā aplūkots ģenētiskā algoritma konstrukcijas elementi: derīguma (fitness) funkcijas izveide, reproducēšanās, krustošanās un mutāciju operatori. Strong gamma-ray emission from neutron unbound states populated in beta-decay: Impact on (n,gamma) cross-section estimates

Total absorption gamma-ray spectroscopy is used to measure accurately the intensity of gamma emission from neutron-unbound states populated in the β-decay of delayed-neutron emitters. From the comparison of this intensity with the intensity of neutron emission one can deduce information on the (n,γ) cross section for unstable neutron-rich nuclei of interest in r process abundance calculations. A surprisingly large gamma branching was observed for a number of isotopes. The results are compared with Hauser-Feshbach calculations and discussed.

Symptoms of Depression and Status in the European Labour Market

This study uses three rounds of European Social Survey to study the effects from the status in the labour market of individuals from general population on the strength of their depression symptoms. Particular interest is in the comparison of the mismatched (over- and undereducated) to other kinds of status. Mismatch is defined by a normative (ISCO-based) measure. The main result is that not only overeducation but also (though to a smaller extent) undereducation is associated with an increased presence of depression symptoms. Health, income, personality, religion, the frequency of watching news on TV and partner’s status in the labour market are among the independent variables.

International audience; In 1872, G. Darboux defined a family of curves on surfaces of $\mathbb{R}^3$ which are preserved by the action of the Mobius group and share many properties with geodesics. Here, we characterize these curves under the view point of Lorentz geometry and prove that they are geodesics in a 3-dimensional sub-variety of a quadric $\Lambda^4$ contained in the 5-dimensional Lorentz space $\mathbb{R}^5_1$ naturally associated to the surface. Gene-environment interactions between education and body mass: Evidence from the UK and Finland

More education is associated with a lower body mass index (BMI) and likelihood of being overweight. However, since a large proportion of the variation in body mass is due to genetic makeup, it has been hypothesized that education may moderate the genetic risk. We estimate main associations between (i) education, (ii) genetic risk, and (iii) interactions between education and genetic risk on BMI and the probability of being overweight in the UK and Finland. The estimates show that education is negatively associated with BMI and overweightness, and genetic risk is positively associated. The magnetization evolution is modeled with Bloch equations, which defines a dynamic system that can be controlled via the application of the Pontryagin Maximum Principle (PMP).
