Discrimination of nerve gases mimics and other organophosphorous derivatives in gas phase using a colorimetric probe array.
2012
A colorimetric array for the chromogenic discrimination of organophosphorous derivatives in gas phase has been developed. The array allows us to classify the nerve agent simulants DFP, DCP and DCNP.
Dopamine interaction with a polyamine cryptand of 1H-pyrazole in the absence and in the presence of Cu(ii) ions. Crystal structure of [Cu2(H−1L](ClO4…
2000
The crystal structure of the binuclear Cu2+ complex [Cu2(H−1L)](ClO4)3 ·2H2O of the cryptand L = 1,4,7,8,11,14,17,20,21,24,29,32,33,36-tetradecaazapentacyclo[12.12.12.1 6,9.119,22,1,31,34]hentetraconta-6,9(41), 19(40), 21,31,34(39)-hexaene is presented; evidence for the formation in solution of binary L–dopamine and ternary Cu2+–L–dopamine complexes is presented.
Strong donor–acceptor couplings in a special pair-antenna model
2010
A special pair model composed of two cofacial zinc porphyrins (acceptor) linked to a free base (donor) acts as an energy transfer dyad. Despite the absence of conjugation, ππ*/charge transfer excited states and ultrafast energy transfer (∼5 ps) are noted.
Synergistic effect of ligating and ionic functions, prearranged on a calix[4]arene.
2006
The covalent attachment of two CMPO-functions and two anionic Cosan groups to the narrow rim of tert-butylcalix[4]arene leads to a dramatic increase of the extraction efficiency for the cone isomer; Am(3+) is removed from 5 x 10(-8) M solution to more than 99% by a single extraction step with a 3 x 10(-6) M solution of the calixarene.
Extraction of lanthanides and actinides by a magnetically assisted chemical separation technique based on CMPO-calix[4]arenes
2001
A novel particulate system carrying CMPO ligands pre-organised on a calixarene scaffold has been synthesised and demonstrated to extract Eu3+, Am3+ and Ce3+ at high efficiency from simulated nuclear waste streams.
Folding and dimerization of resorcarene tetrasulfonates
2001
In the solid state and in CDCl3 resorcarene tetramesitylsulfonates fold by intramolecular SO⋯H–O hydrogen bonds and dimerise via intermolecular O–H⋯OH hydrogen bonding.
Investigations of TiO2 films deposited by different techniques
1991
High refractive TiO2 films deposited by reactive electron beam evaporation, reactive ion plating and dip coating have been characterized by optical spectroscopy, electron spectroscopy for chemical analysis, Rutherford backscattering spectroscopy, nuclear reaction analysis and Raman spectroscopy. The spectral refractive index n exhibits a strong dependence on the deposition conditions. These findings will be connected to variations in density, stoichiometry, hydrogen content (H2O) and binding structure of the layers. A strong correlation is found between optical quantities and microscopic properties of TiO2 films.
Paramagnetic aluminium β-diketiminate
2012
The β-diketiminate ligand framework is shown to undergo reduction to form a neutral main group radical stabilized by spiroconjugation of the unpaired electron over the group 13 element centre. The synthesized paramagnetic complex was characterized by EPR spectroscopy and computational chemistry.
Probing optical and magnetic properties via subtle stereoelectronic effects in mononuclear DyIII-complexes
2021
Tapping into the secondary coordination environment of mononuclear DyIII-complexes leads to drastic changes in luminescence and magnetism. Visualization of effects induced by stereoelectronics on the opto-magnetic properties was achieved through subtle modifications in the ligand framework.
Soluble oligo(phenylenevinylene)s with electron withdrawing substituents for the use in light emitting diodes
2000
Poly(p-phenylenevinylene) (PPV) and its derivatives are one of the most widely used classes of phosphors in light emitting diodes. Central problems are the imbalanced charge carrier injection and transport properties due to the high lying conduction band. A series of good soluble oligo(phenylenevinylene)s (OPV) with five benzene rings and a variety of electron withdrawing and accepting substituents have been prepared and may serve as model compounds for PPV with increased electron affinity. The central ring of the OPVs is substituted with two octyloxy groups to ensure good solubility and the lateral styrene units carry further chromophoric groups of different electronic character. The synth…
