La filiera corta: una possibile strategia per migliorare la competitività dell'azienda agraria
2013
The paper aims to determine the possible competitive advantage for farms thatadopt a short supply-chain strategy. In particular, by carriying out an analysis of asample of fruit and vegetable farms, we wanted to find out how the business relatesto the market and the reasons that induced the entrepreneur to move into a shortsupply-chain set up. The study was prompted by the wish to determine, empirically, the economic benefits arising from the adoption of the short supply chain. In fact, there is a vast literature on the economic benefits produced by the short supply chainsuch as the demand stability due to customer loyalty and the ability to influencedirectly the price through the reduction o…
Kultūras ietekmes analīze uz 27 ES valstu Globālās Konkurētspējas indeksa vērtējumiem: Hofstedes kultūru dimensiju modelis
2019
Diplomdarba nosaukums ir “Kultūras ietekmes analīze uz 27 ES valstu Globālās Konkurētspējas indeksa vērtējumiem : Hofstedes kultūru dimensiju modelis”. Darba mērķis ir, izmantojot G. Hofstedes kultūru dimensiju modeli, izvērtēt valstu kultūrai raksturīgo īpašību ietekmi uz Pasaules Ekonomikas Foruma veidoto Konkurētspējas indeksa vērtējumu. Noskaidrot, kādas īpašības uzlabo un pasliktina valstu vērtējumu šajā indeksā. Darbs sastāv no 3 nodaļām.
Inhibitory activities of short linear motifs underlie Hox interactome specificity in vivo
2015
Hox proteins are well-established developmental regulators that coordinate cell fate and morphogenesis throughout embryogenesis. In contrast, our knowledge of their specific molecular modes of action is limited to the interaction with few cofactors. Here, we show that Hox proteins are able to interact with a wide range of transcription factors in the live Drosophila embryo. In this context, specificity relies on a versatile usage of conserved short linear motifs (SLiMs), which, surprisingly, often restrains the interaction potential of Hox proteins. This novel buffering activity of SLiMs was observed in different tissues and found in Hox proteins from cnidarian to mouse species. Although th…
Activation of gp 130 by IL-6/soluble IL-6 receptor induces neuronal differentiation
1998
Interleukin-6 (IL-6) on target cells binds to the specific IL-6 receptor (IL-6R) and subsequently induces homodimerization of the signal-transducing protein gp130. Cells which express gp130 but no IL-6R and which therefore do not respond to IL-6 can be stimulated by the complex of IL-6 and soluble IL-6R (slL-6R). Here we show that on rat pheochromocytoma cells (PC12), the combination of IL-6 and slL-6R but not IL-6 alone induces expression of c-fos, GAP-43 and neuron-specific enolase followed by neuron-specific differentiation and formation of a neuronal network. The differentiation was dose-and time-dependent and followed the same kinetics as nerve-growth factor (NGF)-induced differentiati…
Digital Transformation of Centru Region – Romania. Needs Assessment
2020
Abstract Competitiveness represents a never-ending moving target for any institution/entity, no matter the level of analysis (micro - companies /public administrations, mezzo - industries / national regions, or macro - countries / world regions); but its determinants (or key success factors) are changing, as ages go by, asking for continuous watch and strategic flexibility. With digital technology nowadays disrupting (almost) every aspect of human life, while framing a new age - of digitalization being both a source of competitiveness (for the industry leaders - whatever the “industry” might be), and (just) a prerequisite for survival (or doing business) for almost everyone else, the Europe…
Indexes as Business Environment Characterizing Instruments
2017
Every year several world organizations evaluate countries according different criteria and determine their indexes, such as KOF Index of Globalization, Corruption Perception Index, Global Competitiveness Index, Global Innovation Index, and others. These indexes later are used for analysis of the aspects of entrepreneurship activities in specific countries. One particular application of indexes is related to analysis and evaluation of the business environment of the country. The entrepreneurship is affected by many factors; to research all of them is very time and effort consuming process. The proposed approach (i.e., use of indexes) is targeted and can yield results of the practical signifi…
Effects of network market orientation on new ventures' international performance
2013
By combining international entrepreneurship and marketing aspects, this work attempts to emphasise the importance of relational knowledge in international new ventures by studying the influence of network market orientation on the international results obtained by these firms. The results obtained in the comparison with the proposed structural equations model confirm that network market orientation is a determining factor for firms to achieve better international results. This influence is observed both directly and indirectly with the mediating effect on the differentiation– and cost–based competitive advantages developed by INVs.
Business Sustainable Competitiveness a Synergistic, Long-Run Approach of a Company's Resources and Results
2018
Abstract Business sustainable competitiveness is a very complex concept. This complexity generates a variety of possibilities to define, to measure and to test it. The purpose of the paper is to develop the concept of businessness (for business sustainable competitiveness) by leveraging productivity, profitability, effectiveness and sustainability, at firm level. The interrelations between them, in terms of revenues per employee, return on assets, total assets turnover and Dow Jones Sustainability Index, were integrated into models/functions in order to develop, test and apply businessness. The article is about proposing functions (by using multiple discriminant analysis) in order to measur…
From The Lisbon Strategy To Europe 2020
2015
Abstract The idea of a Western Europe economic recovery occurs after World War II. First as a common market, and later, after enlargement towards Central and Eastern Europe as the single internal market. Due to the new challenges with which the global economy was faced, the longterm and short-term European economy needs a coherent growth economic strategy; the success of this strategy depends on joint action. Expanding the European economy is a continuous and irreversible process, yet it advances too slowly. The Lisbon strategy is a commitment to revive the European economy in all sectors. At 5 years after implementation of this strategy it was found that the results are insufficient, so me…
EMNCS– Lessons On The Way To An Innovation-based Development. Setting The Backgrounds
2015
Abstract The main focus of (the two parts of) this article is on the emerging countries and their development paths. Particularly, it emphasizes on the role and contribution of innovation (of all kinds, in all its forms) for multinational companies from emerging economies (EMNC); the entire research endeavor is placed under the auspices of the knowledge-based society - the one that makes knowledge the ultimate source of power, enabling entities to use and potentially multiply it at the same time at global scale. Analyzing the situation of some emerging economies (starting from their best ranked multinationals), the article draws some empirical and theoretical conclusions on the ways knowled…
