While the detrimental effects of a chronic positive energy balance due to a sedentary lifestyle have been well established, the impacts of a short period of abruptly reduced physical activity and overeating arising from strict confinement due to the COVID-19 pandemic will soon start to emerge. Nutritional parameters associated with prognosis in non-critically ill hospitalized covid-19 patients: the nutri-covid19 study

Background & aims: To investigate the association between the parameters used in nutritional screening assessment (body mass index [BMI], unintentional weight loss [WL] and reduced food intake) and clinical outcomes in non-critically ill, hospitalized coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) patients. Methods: This was a prospective multicenter real-life study carried out during the first pandemic wave in 11 Italian Hospitals. In total, 1391 patients were included. Resume En 1981 et 1989, deux enquetes nationales decrivaient l'evolution de la consommation alimentaire des nourrissons francais. En 1997, une troisieme enquete a ete realisee par les memes equipes suivant la meme methode. Population et methodes L'echantillon, representatif, est constitue de 660 enfants de 1 a 30 mois. Lifetime total and beverage specific - alcohol intake and prostate cancer risk: a case-control study

Abstract Background We investigated lifetime alcohol consumption and prostate cancer risk in a case-control study conducted in Buffalo, NY (1998–2001). Methods The study included 88 men, aged 45 to 85 years with incident, histologically-confirmed prostate cancer and 272 controls. We conducted extensive in-person interviews regarding lifetime alcohol consumption and other epidemiologic data. Ageing and COPD affect different domains of nutritional status: the ECCE study

Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and ageing may contribute to malnutrition. We aimed to explore whether COPD and ageing determine malnutrition in different manners. 460 stable COPD outpatients (376 males and 84 females) from the Extrapulmonary Consequences of COPD in the Elderly (ECCE) study database were investigated (age 75.0±5.9 yrs; forced expiratory volume in 1 s 54.7±18.3% predicted).
