ChemInform Abstract: Solution Synthesis of a New Thermoelectric Zn1+xSb Nanophase and Its Structure Determination Using Automated Electron Diffractio…

2010

Thermoelectric nanoparticles of the nominal composition Zn4Sb3 are prepared by heating Sb nanoparticles with a 9-fold excess of Zn particles (synthesized by reaction of SbCl3 or ZnCl2 with Li[Et3BH] in THF at room temperature, and about 65 °C, respectively) in trioctylamine at about 300 °C for 225 min.

Electro-organic Synthesis as a Sustainable Alternative for Dehydrogenative Cross-Coupling of Phenols and Naphthols

2016

The dehydrogenative cross-coupling of phenols and naphthols can be achieved by several oxidative methods. However, the key is the use of fluorinated alcohols such as 1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoroisopropanol. The direct application of electricity represents an alternative synthetic approach, which is superior to other oxidizers (e.g., peroxides). The method is sustainable, inherently safe, and easily scalable.

New Strategies in Chemical Synthesis and Catalysis

2012

Providing a comprehensive overview of the essential topics, this book covers the core areas of organic, inorganic, organometallic, biochemical synthesis and catalysis. The authors are among the rising stars in European chemistry, a selection of participants in the 2010 European Young Chemists Award competition, and their contributions deal with most of the frontier issues in chemical synthesis. They give an account of the latest research results in chemistry in Europe, as well as the state of the art in their field of research and the outlook for the future. © 2012 Wiley-VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. Organic synthesis of high added value molecules with MOF catalysts

2020

Recent examples of organic synthesis of fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals in confined spaces of MOFs are highlighted and compared with silica-based ordered porous solids, such as zeolites or mesoporous (organo)silica. These heterogeneous catalysts offer the possibility of stabilizing the desired transition states and/or intermediates during organic transformations of functional groups and (C-C/C-N) bond forming steps towards the desired functional high added value molecular scaffolds. A short introduction on zeolites, mesoporous silica and metal-organic frameworks is followed by relevant applications in which confined active sites in the pores promote single or multi-step organic synthesis…

‘One-Pot’ Synthesis of Raumacline from Ajmaline

1993

For the alkaloid raumacline (2), which is a biotransformation product of ajmaline (1) in Rauwolfia serpentina cell cultures, an efficient ‘one-pot’ synthesis was developed using a NaBH4/riboflavin/light-mediated transformation of 1 into 2 with a total yield of 86%.
