PurposeThe purpose of the present study is to examine how perceived employability relates to job exhaustion, psychological symptoms and self‐rated job performance in involuntary and voluntary temporary employees compared to permanent employees.Design/methodology/approachThe study is based on a cross‐sectional design using a sample of university teachers and researchers (n=1,014) from two Finnish universities. Of the sample, 40 percent (n=408) are permanent employees, 49 percent (n=495) involuntary and 11 percent (n=111) voluntary temporary employees. Although the differential treatment of team members by their leader is at the heart of Leader–Member Exchange (LMX) theory, empirical studies exploring the role of within-team LMX differentiation in relation to team outcomes are still relatively scarce. This study among 269 Dutch secondary school teachers from 33 different teams tested the hypotheses that the relationship between LMX differentiation and team commitment, and team performance is moderated by LMX-quality median. The research is oriented towards the determination of personal and environmental factors that provide to explain several aspects of the construct. En este estudio exploratorio se evalúa el conocimiento didáctico del contenido (CDC) sobre pilas galvánicas de profesores de secundaria en formación y en ejercicio. Además, este conocimiento se ha relacionado con los enfoques de enseñanza que prefieren. Para este propósito, se ha adaptado el instrumento CoRe de Loughran, Mulhall y Berry (2004) considerando dos situaciones: pila Daniell y pila voltaica simple. La muestra se compuso de 25 profesores en formación y de 15 profesores en ejercicio.
