15. Functional mapping of monaural auditory brainstem responses
2012
Background and aims: The pedunculopontine nucleus (PPN) is a new deep brain stimulation (DBS) target, thought to be particularly for useful in ameliorating gait disturbance in Parkinson’s disease. Recent evidence shows a prominent theta (4–7 Hz) rhythm in the PPN (Tsang et al., Neurology, 2010; Simon et al., J. Neurophysiol., 2010; Shimamoto et al., JNNP, 2010). Given that theta activity is modulated by vestibular signals elsewhere in the brain, e.g. hippocampus, (Shin, Synapse, 2010; Chen et al., Neuroimage, 2010), we assessed whether vestibular signals modulate PPN theta activity. Methods: We recorded local field potentials (LFPs) in three patients with implanted bilateral subthalamic nuc…
Functional brain imaging of peripheral and central vestibular disorders.
2008
This review summarizes our current knowledge of multisensory vestibular structures and their functions in humans. Most of it derives from brain activation studies with PET and fMRI conducted over the last decade. The patterns of activations and deactivations during caloric and galvanic vestibular stimulations in healthy subjects have been compared with those in patients with acute and chronic peripheral and central vestibular disorders. Major findings are the following: (1) In patients with vestibular neuritis the central vestibular system exhibits a spontaneous visual-vestibular activation–deactivation pattern similar to that described in healthy volunteers during unilateral vestibular sti…
Comparative study of the effect of gentamicin on the vestibulo-ocular and visual vestibulo-ocular reflexes in the cat.
1991
The ototoxic effect of an aminoglycoside, gentamicin, on the vestibular system was investigated in cats given daily doses of 40 mg/kg i.m. for 14 days. Periodically, measurements were made of the vestibulo-ocular reflex (VOR) and visual vestibulo-ocular reflex (ViVOR) responses induced by rotatory stimuli at various frequencies from 0.0125 Hz to 0.8 Hz. After the cessation of drug administration, a progressively declining response to VOR stimuli continued, manifested by gain (ratio of peak response to peak stimulus amplitude) and phase relationships. The ViVOR was affected only in the gain measurements. The changes in the response amplitude (gain) were greater for the VOR than for the ViVOR…
Understanding distortions of inorganic substructures in chloridobismuthates(III)
2021
The molar ratio variations of organic and inorganic reactants of chloridobismuthates(III) with N,N-dimethylethane-1,2-diammonium, [(CH3)2NH(CH2)2NH3]2+, and N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylguanidinium, [NH2C{N(CH3)2}2]+, cations lead to the formation of four different products, namely, tris(N,N-dimethylethane-1,2-diammonium) bis[hexachloridobismuthate(III)], [(CH3)2NH(CH2)2NH3]3[BiCl6]2 (1), catena-poly[N,N-dimethylethane-1,2-diammonium [[tetrachloridobismuthate(III)]-μ-chlorido]], {[(CH3)2NH(CH2)2NH3][BiCl5]} n (2), tris(N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylguanidinium) tri-μ-chlorido-bis[trichloridobismuthate(III)], [NH2C{N(CH3)2}2]3[Bi2Cl9] (3), and catena-poly[N,N,N′,N′-tetramethylguanidinium [[dichloridobismutha…
Screening of ligands for the Ullmann synthesis of electron-rich diaryl ethers
2012
In the search for new ligands for the Ullmann diaryl ether synthesis, permitting the coupling of electron-rich aryl bromides at relatively low temperatures, 56 structurally diverse multidentate ligands were screened in a model system that uses copper iodide in acetonitrile with potassium phosphate as the base. The ligands differed largely in their performance, but no privileged structural class could be identified.
Double-CO32− Centered [CoII5] Wheel and Modeling of Its Magnetic Properties
2010
A high-spin Co(II) cluster with a rare pentagonal molecular structure and formula [Co(5)(CO(3))(2)(bpp)(5)]ClO(4) (1; Hbpp is 2,6-bis(phenyliminomethyl)-4-methylphenolate) has been synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. This topology arises from fusing five [Co(2)(bpp)] moieties in a cyclic manner around two CO(3)(2-) central ligands, resulting in propeller-like configuration. The irregular coordination of the carbonate ions to the metal centers results in a combination of coordination numbers (CNs) of the Co(II) ions of five and six. The bulk magnetization of this complicated magnetically exchanged system has been modeled successfully by employing a matrix diago…
Crystal structure of a low-spin poly[di-μ3-cyanido-di-μ2-cyanido-bis(μ2-2-ethylpyrazine)dicopper(I)iron(II)]
2019
In the title metal–organic framework, [Fe(C6H8N2)2{Cu(CN)2}2] n , the low-spin FeII ion lies at an inversion centre and displays an elongated octahedral [FeN6] coordination environment. The axial positions are occupied by two symmetry-related bridging 2-ethylpyrazine ligands, while the equatorial positions are occupied by four N atoms of two pairs of symmetry-related cyanide groups. The CuI centre is coordinated by three cyanide carbon atoms and one N atom of a bridging 2-ethylpyrazine molecule, which form a tetrahedral coordination environment. Two neighbouring Cu atoms have a short Cu...Cu contact [2.4662 (7) Å] and their coordination tetrahedra are connected through a common edge between…
Crystal structure of catena-poly[[[(2-ethoxypyrazine-κN)copper(I)]-di-μ2-cyanido] [copper(I)-μ2-cyanido]]
2019
The title compound, {[Cu(EtOpz)(CN)2][CuCN]}n, where EtOpz is 2-ethoxypyrazine, is a two-dimensional polymeric copper complex with different coordination environments of the two CuI ions. One Cu atom is coordinated to the 2-ethoxypyrazine molecule and two bridging cyanide ligands, equally disordered over two sites. The second Cu atom is coordinated by two disordered over two sites bridging cyanide groups. Two copper–cyanide chains are connected through Cu⋯Cu contact.
Środkowy z rodzeństwa jako potencjalny nauczyciel - w świetle teorii kolejności narodzin
2019
The Born–Oppenheimer equilibrium bond distance of GeO from millimetre- and submillimetre-wave spectra and quantum-chemical calculations
2014
The millimetre- and submillimetre-wave spectra of the five common isotopologues of (GeO)-O-16 in their electronic and vibrational ground state have been recorded in the spectral region 115-732GHz; for (GeO)-Ge-74-O-16, the rotational spectrum in the v = 1 state has been detected as well. Exploiting the high precision of the measurements, the Born-Oppenheimer breakdown parameter Delta(Ge)(01) could be determined from a Dunham analysis of the spectral data, whereas Delta(O)(01) was obtained from quantum-chemical calculations, because of the lack of high-precision measurements for the (GeO)-O-18 isotopologues. From the rotational equilibrium constant, the Born-Oppenheimer equilibrium distance …
