Bicyclo[2.2.2]octane-1,4-dicarboxylic acid: towards transparent metal–organic frameworks
2017
The preparation of transparent porous materials can offer a different access towards the study of molecules under solid confined space. Metal-organic frameworks represent a unique opportunity due to their tunable pore size, however aromatic linkers present strong absorption and reduce the transparency. Herein, we report the first example of a MOF with bicyclic organic dicarboxylic linkers and its use as a solid solvent.
Controlled Synthesis of Reactive Polymeric Architectures Using 5-Norbornene-2-carboxylic Acid Pentafluorophenyl Ester
2007
Exo-5-norbornene-2-carboxylic acid pentafluorophenyl ester was synthesized from 5-norbornene-2-carboxylic acid and polymerized by ring-opening metathesis polymerization. The obtained polymers were soluble polymeric active esters that could be used for the preparation of multifunctional polymers. The molecular weight of the polymers was controlled by variation of the monomer to initiator ratio. The precursor polymers reacted quantitatively with primary and secondary amines. Time resolved FT-IR studies at different temperatures of the polymer analogous reactions were performed and rate constants were determined.
Stereoselective synthesis and properties of 1,3-bis(dicyanomethylidene)indane-5-carboxylic acid acceptor fragment containing nonlinear optical chromo…
2016
A series of organic push–pull type chromophores using indane-1,3-dione 5-carboxylic acid (IDCA) and novel 1,3-bis(dicyanomethylidene)indane 5-carboxylic acid (CICA) electron acceptor fragments have been synthesized and characterized. NMR and X-ray analysis revealed that condensation reactions with the CICA fragment were stereoselective and yielded benzylidenes and azomethines with E double bond configurations. Due to the non-planar geometry these compounds are chiral and were acquired as a racemic mixture. The subsequent functionalization of the carboxylic acid group with 5,5,5-triphenylpentan-1-ol yielded solution-processable glass forming materials (6, 8, 10, 13) with glass transition tem…
Fluidizing efficiency of comb-like superplasticizers: The effect of the anionic function, the side chain length and the grafting degree
2015
Superplasticizers and especially polycarboxylate grafted polyethylene oxide (PCE) demonstrated their efficiency to fluidify concrete. The aim of this work is to investigate the evolution of the fluidity as a function of adsorption in a sulfated solution with a wide variety of comb-like superplasticizers and at incomplete adsorption rate. Polymers with various side chain lengths, grafting ratios and also with modified anionic functions (carboxylate, dicarboxylate and phosphate) were synthesized. Inert calcite suspensions were used to mimic early age cementitious materials avoiding the cement hydration. Models of polymer conformation and yield stress prediction have been tested. But the most …

Mass spectra of halogenated esters 6—Methyl esters of some trihalogenated propanoic and butanoic acids
1984
The mass spectral fragmentation of trihalogenated methyl esters, formed in the reactions of monochlorinated methyl propenoates and 2-butenoates with Cl2, BrCl and Br2, have been investigated. In most cases α-cleavage gives the base peak, [COOCH3]+, the peaks originating from the subsequent losses of one or two halogen atoms also being abundant. The primary loss of a halogen atom is more prominent in the C4 derivatives, Br˙ and Cl˙ being preferentially lost from the 2- and 3-positions, respectively. The McLafferty rearrangement yields in one case the base peak; the 2-halo compounds could in general be distinguished by that fragmentation. Typical for all 2-bromo-substituted methyl butanoates …
1,3-Dimethylimidazolium-2-carboxylate: the unexpected synthesis of an ionic liquid precursor and carbene-CO2 adductElectronic supplementary informati…
2002
1,3-Dimethylimidazolium-2-carboxylate is formed in good yield, rather than the anticipated organic salt, 1,3-dimethylimidazolium methyl carbonate, as the reaction product resulting from both N-alkylation and C-carboxylation of 1-methylimidazole with dimethyl carbonate; the crystal structure of the zwitterion exhibits π-stacked rings and two-dimensional sheets constructed by hydrogen-bonds from imidazolium-ring hydrogens to the carboxylate group.
Production of Dicarboxylic Acids and Flagrances by Yarrowia lipolytica
2013
Yeasts are excellent biocatalysts in the field of alkane and fatty acids transformation into dicarboxylic acids and lactones. Their ability to produce some diacids through simple, less expensive and more environment friendly routes than chemical pathways and to produce particular diacids (e.g. unsaturated ones) but also to transform natural substrates into lactones with a natural label has made them the subject of many researches. Although Candida species were often first studied, the development of genetic tools, the knowledge of the genome and some genomic and biotechnological particularities of Yarrowia lipolytica resulted to interesting developments with this species. This chapter aims …
Acid Carboxypeptidases in Grains and Leaves of Wheat, Triticum aestivum L
1986
Extracts of resting and germinating (3 days at 20 degrees C) wheat (Triticum aestivum L. cv Ruso) grains rapidly hydrolyzed various benzyloxycarbonyldipeptides (Z-dipeptides) at pH 4 to 6. Similar activities were present in extracts of mature flag leaves. Fractionation by chromatography on CM-cellulose and on Sephadex G-200 showed that the activities in germinating grains were due to five acid carboxypeptidases with different and complementary substrate specificities. The wheat enzymes appeared to correspond to the five acid carboxypeptidases present in germinating barley (L Mikola 1983 Biochim Biophys Acta 747: 241-252). The enzymes were designated wheat carboxypeptidases I to V and their …
