Abstract Series of novel N-(fluorophenyl)piperazine derivatives of phenylboronic compounds including benzoxaboroles, phenylboronic acids and phenylboronic methyl monoester have been obtained by facile synthetic methods starting from 2-formylphenylboronic acid. Molecular and crystal structures of those novel derivatives have been investigated by single crystal X-ray diffraction method. The Bond Valence Vector Model was used to describe strains in the boron coordination sphere. This work is a detailed summary of the newest findings on the bioinorganic chemistry of silver, with a special focus on the applications of Ag+ complexes and nanoparticles. Mosaic Qβ coats as a new presentation model

The new protein carrier was developed on the basis of recombinant RNA phage Qbeta capsid. C-terminal UGA extension of the short form of Qbeta coat, so-called A1 extension, served as a target for presentation of foreign peptides on the outer surface of mosaic Qbeta particles. In conditions of enhanced UGA suppression, the proportion of A1-extended to short coats in mosaic particles dropped from 48% to 14%, with an increase of the length of A1 extension. A model insertion, short preS1 epitope 31-DPAFR-35 of hepatitis B surface antigen, demonstrated superficial location on the mosaic Qbeta particles and ensured specific antigenicity and immunogenicity.

A Cryptosporidium parvum sporozoite and oocyst lambda gt11 cDNA library was screened with a hyperimmune rabbit serum that was developed against insoluble fragments of ultrasonicated oocysts. A clone named Cp22.4.1 encoding a protein of 231 amino acids with 4 zinc-finger domains characterized by a Cys-X2-Cys-X4-His-X4-Cys motif was isolated and characterized. There was a complete match between the sequencing data of the coding region of Cp22.4.1 and the corresponding gene at chromosomal level. CD26 (Tp103) is a proteolytic enzyme (dipeptidyl peptidase IV) expressed on the T cell surface that defines an alternative activation signal for human T lymphocytes. It is absent from or present in only low amounts on resting T cells but it is expressed strongly after activation. Crosslinking of CD26/Tp103 via the monoclonal antibody CB.1 triggers functional activities in preactivated T cells. In order to assess the effects of combining two antimetabolites used separately to treat human leukemias, we carried out an experimental study by exposing V79 Chinese hamster cells, a 6-thioguanine (6-tG)-sensitive cell line, to sequential and concurrent treatments with 5-azacytidine (5-azaC) and 6-tG. In this paper, we demonstrate that there is a clear dependency for the way in which this combination was tested. Cytoprotective organoselenium compounds for oligodendrocytes

Abstract Herein we report the synthesis of peptide-like and tetrazole-based organoselenium compounds via Ugi and Ugi-azide reactions, respectively. The organoselenium compounds' intrinsic cytoprotective and antioxidant capacities were evaluated in 158 N and 158JP murine oligodendrocytes. Furthermore, their redox properties were theoretically evaluated using Molecular Operating Environment-docking studies. Most of the compounds did not exhibit any cytotoxicity against the 158JP and 158 N cells.
